Aged 60 years. Formerly of Port au Choix, longtime employee of FPI. Predeceased by his father Vergus in 1969. Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville, on February 19, 2000, Sidney H. Ash of Port Rexton; aged 84 years. Predeceased by his wife, Emma, in 1974. Predeceased by husband Thomas, 1993 and daughter Phyllis Hancock, 1997. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, February 19, 2000, in the presence of his loving family, John Michael Bartlett of Marysvale, aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Enid; 3 sons; Wayne (Helen), Winnipeg, Harry (Linda), David (Carol); 3 daughters; Maxine Leonard (Jerry), Judy Smart (Reginald), Robin Manuel (Robert); 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; one brother Harrison in Ontario. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on February 27, 2000. Age 75. Brown, Keith Douglas (Bruno)
Age 40. Passed away tragiclly in Montreal on February 8, 2000. Leaving to mourn his loss, besides his immediate family in Montreal, Fort Erie and Torbay; a large circle of relatives and friends. Clarke, Stirling Peter
Passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at home, in his 56th year. Stirling, beloved husband of Heather. He will be sadly missed by his son Dean; his mother-in-law Irene; and brother-in-law Brian. Predeceased by his parents Pim and Lizzie of Buchans, Nfld. He will be sadly missed by his sisters; Betty (Bill Collins), Maxine (Same Lane) and Ross (Betty) of Nfld; brothers; Roland (Jean) and Gerald (Julie) of Oshawa; also a special aunt (Helen Higdon), Victoria, Carbonear. Sadly remembered by his many nieces and nephews on Ontario and Nfld. He will be treasured in our hearts always.

Colbert, Cory Joseph
Born February 18, 1978. Passed away tragically in Alberta on February 23, 2000. Predeceased by his grandfather John Colbert of Calvert. Leaving to mourn his mother Lois Romney of Alberta; father Joe and wife Charlene Colbert of Witless Bay; one sister Marie, also of Alberta; two step-brothers Joshua and Kyle White; grandparents Margaret Colbert of Calvert, Mr. and Mrs. Al Comstock of Alberta; very special friend Jennifer, also of Alberta; and a large circle of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, and a very special great-aunt, Rita Sullivan. Passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 10, 2000, age 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Bruce, son Francis and brother, Leo. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, February 1st, 2000, at the Health Sciences Center, Violet Winnifred Cook. Aged 76 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, her beloved husband of 50 years, Arthur; and devoted daughter and best friend Heather. James Crowley of Medford, Joan and her husband Allan Peeke of Acton, Leo Crowley and his wife Isabel of Winchester, Dennis Crowley of Bradford, Edward and his wife Andrea Crowley of Medford. Passed pecefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Friday, February 4, 2000, at the age of 97, a beloved and beautiful lady. Miss Nellie Cullen, born in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland. Dr. Fanning was appointed Medical Director of the Salvation Army Grace General Hospital in November 1983 and later returned to private practice. His love of music, poetry and the "great outdoors" were favorite pastimes. His faithful, four-legged pal "Schnauzer Joey" was a steadfast companion. Cremation has taken place and a Public Funeral Mass will be held at corpus Christi Church on Thursday, February 17th, 2000 at 2 pm.. She attended school at the Rockingham School and graduated from Halifax West High School. She attended Mount St. Vincent University and was employed for a number of years at the Halifax shipyards. She is survived by her loving husband, Tyrone Fitzmorris and a step-son, Travis. Also surviving are her brothers; Glen (Heather) Langin, Summerside, PEI., and Scott Langin, Halifax, nephew Chance Langin; nieces; Jillann and Janelle Langin. Holly was a granddaughter of the Hon. Passed away on February 9, 2000, Robert A. Robertson on Wickham, N.B.. Bob was a graduate of the UNB, Faculty of Engineering (Civil) in 1952. He was employed by the Montreal Engineering Company where he remained for  his entire career. At his retirement, in 1989, he had served as President of Shawmont Nfld. Ltd; President of SBR Offshore Ltd, and Vice-President of Monenco Company Ltd.. In 1983-1984 he served as the first non-academic Chairman of the Canadian Accreditation Board and in 1984 he received the Award of Merit from the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of Newfoundland for "Having made an outstanding contribution to the Engineering  Profession and the Community". He is survived by his loving wife Helen, two sons; Jim (Rosalind), St. John's, Brett (Sharon), Fredericton, NB; one daughter Nancy (Dan), Maine; five grandchildren; Amy, Rebecca, Sarah, Evan and Andrew; one brother John. Uncle Pat passed away with his loving family and caregivers for 10½ years. Niece Jeanette and husband Len Mercer and their family by his side, Carrrie and Gerard, Shelly Hiscock, Tony and Jennifer (Leduc, Alberta), Frank and Tracy; grandchildren; Stephen Gulliver, Andrea and Robyn Hiscock, the newest addition to our family, 4 weeks old, Nicholas Mercer. They all loved and adored Uncle Pat and he loved and adored them. Also leaving to mourn a loving and special niece, who was always there when needed, Lorraine Dinn. Also loving niece and first cousin, Betty Squires. Uncle Pat was a very quiet and private man in life, his Funeral Mass and burial was private with few family members and close friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 10 am - 12 noon, and 2-9 pm on Thursday and from 10 am - 12 Friday. Funeral Service to take place from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 24, 2000 at 2 pm with a private family interment at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to The Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.

Yard, Jerome
Passed peacefully away, after a short illness, on February 22nd, 2000, Jerome Yard, age 68 years, of Witless Bay. Leaving to mourn four sisters; Mary Bell, Rita Boulos, Kathleen Dunne and Bridget Newbury; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4:30 pm and 7-9 pm.. Funeral from St. Patrick's Church, Witless Bay, following Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am., Thursday, February 24th, 2000. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Witless Bay. Flowers gratefully accepted.
