Passed peacefully away at Interfaith Citizen's Home, Carbonear on Wednesday, August 4th, 1999, of Bay Roberts, aged 100 years. Predeceased by her husband Augustus in Sept. 1969; sisters; Lillian, Minnie, Mary, Bertha; and brother Jake. Mrs. Badcock was the mother of three sons; Augustus (Louise), Bay Roberts, Everett (Shirley), Bay Roberts, John (deceased); eight daughters; Pheobe (Ebenezer Gooose, deceased), St. John's, Lillian (Alex Noseworthy), St. John's, Mary (deceased ), Pearl (deceased), George Hayes, Mount Pearl, Nessie (Clarence Smith) (both deceased), Florida, Audrey (Hector Gulliver, deceased), St. John's, Stella (Roy Batten), Bareneed, Dorothy (Bill Casey), Florida. Also leaving to mourn sister Emily French (aged 98 years), Minnesota, USA: 50 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Baker, Georgina (nee Cunningham-Marsh)
Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family, at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Wednesday, August 25, 1999, Georgina Baker, at the age of 71. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters; Marjorie and Yvonne Coady (Mike); sons; Gary (Marie), Don (Norma), Cecil (Debbie), Bob (Mona) and Winston; 10 grandchildren; special family friends; LorraineVokey, Roseann Fillier, Barbie Prowse and Winnie Moran; also a number of other relatives and friends. BARNES, Patricia M. (nee Greenslade) - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Clare's Hospital on Monday, August 9, 1999, Patricia M. Barnes (nee Greenslade) of Manuels, age 64 years. Predeceased by her father Reginald, mother Gladys and sister Jean. Left with a legacy of love and cherished memories are her husband Gerald; son David (Colleen), Ottawa; daughter Nancy, Kingston, Ontario; two loving granddaughters: Deirdre and Keely at Ottawa; mother-in-law Hilda Barnes, Garnish; sister-in-law Sarah (Sidney), Fortune; brother-in-law Jacob (Norma), Garnish; brother-in-law Samuel (Sharon), Grand Bank; brother-in-law: Walter Sheib, Ocean Side, U.S.A.; two nephews: Walter and Carl Sheib, Washington, D.C.; also special aunt and friend Bessie Kennedy; as well as a large circle other relatives and friends. BARRON, Jerome Francis - Of St. John's, Nfld. (Formerly of Riverhead, St. Mary's), passed away suddenly at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, August 3, 1999. BENNETT, Francis - Passed away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, on Friday, August 6, 1999, in the presence of his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Francis served in WWII, 1940-1946, as a member of the Royal Navy, and was a special constable with the RCMP for 26 years. Francis Bennett, age 80 years. Leaving to mourn their sad loss are the love of his life, wife Agnes; two daughters: Linda (Wayne Button); Kory (Roger Power); one son Brendan (Eva); two stepchildren: Paula (Eugene Huntley) and Paul O'Brien (Michelle); grandchildren: Charlene, Kristy, Brendan, Robert, Elizabeth, Meghan, Sebastian, Hali; and a large circle of family and friends. BISHOP, Mary (Mamie) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at Gaskiers on August 6, 1999, Mary Bishop, aged 85 years. Predeceased by father Patrick Cole and mother Christine Tapper, sister Dorothy and loving grandparents Thomas and Anastasia Cole. Predeceased by her husband walter, daughter Edith and son Gerald. Passed peacefully away surrounded by family and friends at the Health Science Center on Sunday, August 15th, 1999, Magdalen Collins of Lamaline, aged 73 years. Predeceased by husband Nicholas, 1990. Passed away suddenly in Toronto, Ontario, on Tuesday, August 10th, 1999, Bill Croke, age 59 years, formerly of St. John's. Survived by wife Molly (O'Driscoll); sons; Billy and Peter; sisters; Jane, Joan, Rose and Carol Ann; brother Jerry; as well as many other relatives and friends. Stockwood, Annie Mildred (nee Morris)
Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg on the morning of August 11th, 1999. Annie was born in Lower Island Cove, Nfld, on February 24, 1920, where she spent her childhood. As a teen she moved to Montreal where she married George and raised their family. They retired in St. John's and Ottawa. Annie was predeceased in 1995 by her husband Allan George. She is survived by son Robert (Kathy) Stockwood of Winnipeg; daughter Judy (Norman) Robertson of Winnipeg and son Ronald (Ann) Stockwood of Ottawa; sisters; Carrie Tait of Antigonish, Minnie Clarke of St. John's, Marjorie MacDonald of Guelph and brother Harold Morris of Calgary. Nannie is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Stephen, Jessica, and Laura, and her many nieces and nephews. Annie enjoyed family life and relatives, and they were always welcome in her home. Many happy hours were spent at the cottage in Rawdon, Quebec and in Lower Island Cove where she enjoyed her passion for cards, conversation, and the company of family. Her greatest pride was her home and her ability to warmly welcome her guests. Annie's quiet generosity was warmly recognized by many churches and charities throughout her life. In her latter years, her grandchildren brought her great joy and happiness. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. On Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a courageous battle with cancer, Frank died peacefully at the age of 64 years. WEBBER, Rev. Robert Gordon "Ralph" - 71, Cape George, Antigonish County, died August 7, 1999 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born on Flat Island, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Rev. Cecil and Georgina (Dorey) Webber. He graduated from Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB and Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax and was ordained by the Maritime Conference of the United Church of Canad in 1951. He served pastoral charges in Sherbrooke-Glenelg, Brookfield, Lunenburg, Wesley (St. John's), Fairview (Halifax), and St. James (Antigonish). He also served as a military chaplain in Camp Borden and Calgary. Surviving are his wife Betty (Ballantyne); children: Andrew (Linda), Timothy, Susan (Richard), Gordon (Lee), Carolyn (David), Rev. Mary (Rev. Jim); sisters: Verna (rev. Doug) Gass, Pauline Benjamin; 5 grandchildren. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will take place on Sunday, August 15, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at St. James United Church, Antigonish, Rev. Keith Hagerman officiating, with reception to follow.
