Predeceased by his wife Stella, March 2, 1998. Leaving to mourn sons: Jim (Sandra), Ken (Dianne); daughter Julie; five adored and precious grandchildren: Jimmie, Tammy, Chris, Kelly and Tony; one brother Sam (Irene), Foxtrap; four sisters: Rachel Fagan, Sarah Bussey, Foxtrap, Nellie Dawe, Kelligrews, Evelyn Curnew (Jim), Bell Island; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Broderick of Mount Pearl, formerly of Freshwater, Carbonear, aged 43 years. Predeceased by father, Charles; sisters: Viola and Donna; brother Stanley. Leaving to mourn two sons: Justin and Nicholas and their mother, Sharon, all of Kilbride; mother Dorothy, Freshwater, Carbonear; one brother Raymond (Emily), Freshwater, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. GREENSLADE, Mabel - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Thursday, August 13th, 1998 Mabel Greenslade (nee Fowler), Long Pond, age 81 years. Predeceased by her husband Thomas, 1998; and son David 1995. Formerly of Duntara, Bonavista bay. Aged 84 years. Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Banks, NF on Saturday, August 22, 1998 following a lengthy illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard, in 1966. Also predeceased by brothers: Michael, Ambrose and Augustine; as well as sisters: Lucy, Mary and Sarah. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son Michael (wife Madge), Paradise, son Martin (wife Ann), Goulds, and son Bernard (wife Jean), Marystown; granddaughters: Sheri-lyn and Amy; and grandsons: David (wife Kim), Jay, Lee, Matthew and Michael. Also mourning her loss are sisters: Dorothy (husband Alphonsus Devereaux), Gander, Bernetta (husband Alphonsus Gallahue), Gander and Theresa Maloney, Mount Pearl. JANES, John J. - (Retired pioneer, businessman of Topsail Road), entered peacefully into God's keeping at the Health Science Centre on Friday, August 28, 1998, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Carbonear. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mrs. Hannah Mary Kennedy announce her passing on Saturday, August 8, 1998, at the Carbonerar Hospital, Carbonear. She was in her 85th year. She will be sadly missed by her two sons; Peter (wife Patricia), Etobicoke, Ontario, William (wife Rose), Carbonear, NF, three daughters; Margaret (husband Terry) Sullivan, Hr. Grace, Mary (husband Joseph) Greeley, St. John’s, NF, Josephine (husband David), Bridgewater, NS., 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband Nicholas; parents; Peter and Mary Crawford. The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, August 11th, 1998 from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Carbonear. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Carbonear. Marquis, Leo Arthur
Passed peacefully away in Cobourg, Ontario in his 68th year, attended by his beloved wife Helen Marquis (nee Young), his only child Renee Marquis-Antle, grandson Mark Leyton, son-in-law Paul Antle, nephew Cecil Young and good friend Edna Tucker. Predeceased by his father (Leo Rene) and mother (Irene Delma). A wonderful and honorable man who will be missed by many, especially his three brothers; Raymond (Caroline), Edward (Barbara) and Richard (Mary); and two sisters; Gloria Robichaud (Maurice) and Rita Cote, all of Athol, Massachusetts; of St. John’s; his brothers-in-law; Gordon (Anastasia), James (Geraldine), sister-in-law Louise Young and his many nieces and nephews. Mr. Marquis also leaves behind many friends, Masonic brethren and business colleagues, especially Carl Sullivan (Janet), Gary Chaytor (Debbie) and a dedicated staff at Marquis Limited (KFC). Died suddenly at home surrounded by family, after a short illness with cancer, on Sunday, August 23rd, 1998, age 44 years. Predeceased by his father, William, 1975 and sister, Eunice, 1995. Leaving to mourn his friends; Eileen and Cory; two loving sons; twins; Steven and Shawn and their mother Debbie Janes; mother Marie Morgan; brothers; William (Buck) (Diane), Donny, Leo, Rick (Sheila), Tony; sisters; Pauline Lucas (Jim), Cathy (Ken MacInnis), Barb; also a large number of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Passed away peacefully at his home on Monday August 24, 1998 at the age of 81 years (WWII Veteran, 59th Nfld Heavy Regiment Royal Artillery). Predeceased by parents: Jim and Julia; brother Cecil and sister, Sr. M. Redempta O'Brien. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Margaret (nee Donahue); his sons: Brian (Janet) and Sean (Deborah); his beloved grandchildren: Michael, Julie, Tim and Katie; his sisters: Lucy Glazebrook, Gertrude Keough, Madeline Stoyles, Ethel Boland, Sr. Marie O'Brien (PVBM), Joan Dyer, Barbara O'Brien, Margret O'Brien and Anna O'Brien; his brothers-in-law: Bill Keough, Joe Glazebrook, John Bindon and Jimmy Donahue and by sisters-in-law: Kitty O'Brien and Frances Bindon. Left with fond and everlasting memories is her loving husband and devoted companion of 33 years, Ed: her only daughter Darlene (Craig); her three sons: Eddie, Peter, and Paul; also four sisters: Jean, Elaine, (Calvin), Kathleen, Diane (Keith); and five brothers: Sam, Winston, (Joan), John (Madonna), Harold (Mary) and Lewis (Carol). She will sadly missed by many other relatives and a large circle of close friends.
