ABBOTT, Dorothy - of Pleasantville who passed away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Monday, August 13, 2012. Mrs. Abbott was 89 years old. She leaves to mourn her loving family: daughters: Judy (William (Bill)) Tetford, Harbour Grace, Deborah Abbott, St. John's; sister Wynn Fowlow; grandchildren: Robbie and Lori Tetford; sister-in-Law Ruby Butt; special niece Marilyn Toffoli. Predeceased by husband Harold Abbott; parents Clouston and Annie Butt. ALYWARD, Lorraine Anne - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of her loving family on August 10, 2012. Lorraine Anne Alyward, age 60. Predeceased by sister Marlene, parents Thomas and Mary Costello, mother and father-in-law Bernard and Catherine Alyward. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Dave; son Bernard (Jennifer); daughter Davena (Garon); brothers: Duncan (Sandra), Ian (Bride), Roddy (Carol Ann), Reg (Linda) and Keith (Carol); sisters: Martha, Noreen and Jeanette (Don); brother-in-law Ray (Josephine), as well as several nieces and nephews. ANTHONY, Reginald Samuel - (Retired Transport Canada Firefighter). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, August 4, 2012, Reg Anthony of Holyrood in his 66th year. Left with many fond and loving memories are his wife Rosemary (nee Mansfield)) of 42 years; his daughters: Joanne (David) Kelly and Jill (Darren) Hunt; his precious granddaughter Jaiden; two step-grandchildren: Erin and Joe Kelly; his brother Joe (Ethel): sisters: Grace (Fred), Pearl, Vida, Ivy (Frank) and Wavey (Peter): many nieces and nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends. BENNETT, William (Billy) Jr.
Passed on: August 30th, 2012
It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the tragic death of Billy at the young age of 29, in Cambridge, Ontario, August 30th, 2012. He is predeceased by his Grandparents, Edward and Emily Bennett, Leo Hamilton (Sr), and his Aunt Alice Hamilton. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his parents Bill and Bride, sisters Melita and Jackie (Chad) and two nephews Hunter and Jacob, Grandmother Madeline (Hamilton) Janes, (Gordon) and many aunts, uncles cousins and friends. A special thank you to Holly Young and her family (with whom he lived) who loved Billy and cared for him deeply. Cremation has taken place. Sleep, my little angel

BAILEY (nee Halfyard), Amy Eleander - 19 May 1917 - 21 August 2012. On 21 August, 2012 @ 3:11 a.m., Amy Eleander Bailey, neé Halfyard, passed peacefully away while a patient at The Health Sciences Centre. Amy was born in Curzon Village, Woody Point, Bonne Bay. She was a teacher; owned and operated an Amy's Bakery in Clarenville, NL; ran boarding houses in Clarenville & St. John's; worked as an assistant housekeeper at the Newfoundland Hotel until 1982; member of the LOBA and Rebecca's and the club at Masonic Park but above all she was a wife and mother. She left us a legacy of acceptance and love of her fellow creatures - two and four legged and on the wing - which has shaped our lives for the better. She leaves behind her daughters: Josephine Gazley, Jessie Fleming, Corinne (Paul) Moore and her son Geoffrey, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents, sisters Jessie, Julie and Martha, brothers Stewart, Albert and Job, brother-in-law Murdock, sisters-in-law Alma and Edith. Mom lived 95 good years, was strong and vital till the day of her stroke. We will miss her but take comfort in the things she taught us and the unconditional love she showed us. BAILEY, Florence - Passed peacefully away on August 22, 2012, Florence Bailey of Lethbridge, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Edward (Ned), son-in-law Harvey King and daughter-in-law Karen Bailey. BALDWIN, Tyler Duncan - Passed peacefully away surrounded by his family on August 21, 2012, at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre, Tyler Duncan Baldwin, aged 38 years. Predeceased by his father Duncan Baldwin (1996). Tyler spent his childhood on Petley, Random Island, Trinity Bay. From an early age, Tyler enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father to his four children. Tyler appreciated every moment with his family and created countless fun and loving memories with them over the years. Leaving to miss him are his loving wife Carly Gamberg - Baldwin; daughters: Madison and McKenna; step-daughters Paige and Hunter; mother Muriel Baldwin (Walter Pitcher); brother Trevor (Ronda); sister Tammy (Hans - Steffen); half-sister Judy; parents-in-law Terry and Gerarda Gamberg; sisters-in-law: Sasha (John) and Lindsay (David); brother-in-law Michael (Andrea); four nieces; four nephews; the entire Baldwin, Kelly and Gamberg Families; close friends and long-time work colleagues at Eastern Contracting. BALL, Jan "Christian" - September 8, 1972 - August 2, 2012. Christian Ball of Calgary, Alberta passed away tragically on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton at the age of 39 years.
Christian is survived by his mother Lindsay and her husband Patrick O'Dwyer of Eagle Bay, BC; his father Kenneth Ball and his wife Lise of Summerland, BC; his brother Jonathan Ball and sister-in-law Mikie Mork of Okotoks; his sister Lauren and brother-in-law Andrew Upper of Mission, BC, a niece Kristian Upper and twin nephews Arran and Matthew Upper. He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother Rosamond Duggan in 1996.
Chris moved to Calgary from Hampton N.B. with his family in 1980. He attended Midnapore Elementary School, Elboya Junior High and graduated from Western Canada High school.
He later attended Mount Royal College and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Criminology in 1998.
Following university, Chris worked at Hull Home for Boys for several years, and then formed his own slate and tile installation company, Barefoot Tile, which he owned and operated for ten years.
In December, 2011 Chris joined Weatherford Canada in the Drilling Services Division, with involvement in the drilling of horizontal and directional oil and gas wells.
Chris' life was multi-facetted. Chris was extremely creative, enjoying all kinds of art work, building, interior design, costume creations and funky mementoes from places he visited. He loved working on his various cars, especially his 1967 Pontiac Acadian which was his first car purchased at 15 and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Chris was a great friend to all those who knew him both past and present and was a special pal to his beloved big white dog Roxy. He was a "spark" in this world and could create humor out of the smallest bit of nothing. His smile was infectious.
Chris' violent and untimely death has caused unimaginable grief to his family and many friends who hope and pray that those responsible will be brought to justice.

BARRON, Peter - It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of our Dad and Pop, Peter Francis Barron, age 93 of Freshwater, Placentia Bay, on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 at Carbonear General Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Mary on December 25th, 2007. Peter was born on September 12th, 1918 in St. Joseph's, Placentia Bay. He was the last living member of the family of John & Bridget Barron. Predeceased by sisters Alice, Minnie, Elizabeth, Rhoda, Margaret, & Laura Maude and brothers Lar, John & Fergus. Peter was well known as a master accordion player, playing since the age of eight. His musical ability was admired by many. He was always up for playing a few tunes with friends and will be remembered for the way he shared his talents and love of music with the world. BENNETT (nee Winter), Brenda - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Bennett of Trepassey, age 50, on August 5th, 2012. After a courageous battle with cancer, Brenda passed away at her home in the presence of her loving family and friends. She worked with the American Forces, Memorial University, taught at the College of Trades and Technology in St. John's, then worked in the House of Commons, Ottawa until her retirement in 1986. Her early love of painting, photography, travel and joy of life was an inspiration to all who knew her. CAHILL (nee Fox), Nora - It is with great sadness and heart breaking sorrow that the family of Nora Cahill announce her passing on August 8th, 2012 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's surrounded by her family. Nora was born in St. John's and received her professional nursing designate from the Halifax Infirmary in Nova Scotia in 1947. She went on to join the Victorian Order of Nurses in St. John's. She will be remembered by all of us for her sincere kindness and consideration to others, her pride in her children and love of her family. COOK, Gordon D. - FCGA - It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Cook announce his passing on August 23rd, 2012 after a brief illness. Gordon is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Laura Cook of Waldegrove Farm, White Hills, and by his sister, Beverly (Cook) Gladney. Celebrating his life and love are his partner, Carol Strickland; Shirley (Taylor) Cook; his son, Chris (Devin), Ottawa; his daughter, Andrea (Terrance Purchase); and baby grandson, Max, Halifax. Gordon was a graduate of Bishop's College, the College of Trades & Technology and was a Certified General Accountant, a Registered Public Accountant and Justice of the Peace. He worked with Revenue Canada Agency for 17 years as Senior Auditor, Regional Chief of Collections and District Manager, Excise, NL. He went on to operate his own business, Gordon D. Cook & Co., Certified General Accountants, from 1988 to 2004 when he joined Belanger Clarke as Managing Director of Commodity Tax Consultants Inc. Currently he was Commodity Tax Senior Consultant with BDO Canada. Gordon's many interests included executive and community work with the CGA Assn. of NL & Canada, the St. John's YM-YWCA, NL. Handball Assn., and St. Thomas' Church. Gordon was a good friend who was kind, generous and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place at Gordon's request. DOHERTY, Ernest James - Jim passed peacefully away at home on August 19, 2012, at age 85. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Rita, and sister Ruth. Jim is well loved and will be missed very much by his five children: David (Dorothy), Fred (Karen), Kathleen Currie (Charlie), Betty Smith (Larry) and Nora Doherty (Edward Waldner). He adored his grandchildren Christopher, Jennifer, Liam, Geoffrey, Lacey, and Chelsea and was proud to say he was a great-grandfather to Brittany and Sophia. Jim is also survived by his brother Fred; sisters-in-law: Margaret, Una, Shirley and Joan; brothers-in-law: Irvin, Gerald, Tony, and Mike, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Jim was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and attended the school for the blind in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When he returned to St. John's he began working for the CNIB. While working at the CNIB, Jim met Rita and the two were married in 1950. They had 56 loving years of marriage before Rita passed away in 2006. Jim worked for the CNIB until his retirement in 1988 and in 1995 they moved to Regina, SK. Jim was an extraordinary man, who never let his handicap stop him from participating in life. He loved spending time with his family, especially if it involved a game of cards, darts, pool, playing music, or watching his Toronto Blue Jays. He was a member of the blind sports association which gave him the opportunity to play on the blind hockey team, the goal ball team and his favourite sport. bowling. He also played in a band with his brother Fred and loved jamming at the kitchen table. Dad had an amazing sense of humour and a wonderful outlook on life. He often told us about the times he got into trouble with the Head Master at the school for the blind, mostly because they didn't share the same ideas of what was classified as fun. Jim was a devoted husband. When Rita became ill he was there at her side and became her personal caregiver. According to his wishes there will be no formal service. He will be laid to rest with Rita in New Chelsea, Newfoundland at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Jim was born in Corner Brook, NL on the 20th of September, 1940 and raised in St. John's. He was educated at St. Bonaventure's College, St. John's, NL, graduating in 1957. After a short period with the Bank of Nova Scotia he joined the RCAF in 1958 and served at bases in Canada and Germany. He then joined the Newfoundland Constabulary and later the Metropolitan (now) Toronto Police service which he served for 31 years rising to the rank of Staff Superintendent. During his career with the MTP he attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute studying Psychology and Behavioural Sciences. In 1978 he was honoured by Ryerson with the George Korey Proficiency Medal Award. Jim graduated the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia in 1983. In 1991 he attended the National Defense College in Kingston, Ontario. During his year at NDC Jim travelled extensively as part of his training and visited 103 global destinations. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight Chapter #1467 Fr Ernie Deslippe, St. Thomas. KOLINSKY (Churchill), Doris - Passed peacefully away in her sleep on August 12, 2012, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA, Doris (Churchill) Kolinsky, aged 73, after a long and determined battle with emphysema.
A native Newfoundlander, Doris was the daughter of Harry and Lydia Churchill of Portugal Cove. She moved to the United States on Valentine's Day, 1960, with two of her aunts, and there met her loving husband of 50 years Joseph Kolinsky. They raised two daughters in the Tidewater area of Virginia, living both in Hampton, and later Newport News. Sherri and husband Steve Palopoli live in Allentown, PA, while Robin and husband Larry Ingels reside in Chesapeake, VA. Doris and Joe were also blessed with five grandchildren, Stephen, Nick, Brittany, Jessica and Tara. They all are left with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Doris is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brother William (Bill) Churchill, sister-in-law Lillian Churchill, and her Aunt Ruby Adkins, with whom she had moved to the U.S.
In addition to her immediate family, Doris is sadly missed and fondly remembered by a wide circle of family and friends throughout North America, including her brother's children, Craig (Yvonne) Churchill of Gander, Heather Churchill of St. John's and Trent Churchill of Bridgewater, NS, as well as Aunt Betsy D'Arca and husband Steve of Dana Point, CA.

LUTER, Charles Cecil - Originally from Portsmouth, England. Passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Health Science Complex, at age 88 years. Leaving to mourns his daughters Katie, Patsy and Donnie and four grandchildren Tina, Deirdre, Dustin and Dean and two great-grandchildren Michael and Aiden. Mr. Luter was a mechanical engineer with the ASARCO Mining Co. and resided in Buchans til 2009. He loved Buchans and the people of Buchans; his heart and soul will always remain there. Also known as "Chas", who was involved with many issues and discussions on the Open Line radio talk show and wrote many articles to The Telegram. He was reacquainted with his past as a Veteran in WWII when he lived at the Caribou Veteran's Memorial in 2009. There he met many of his brave comrades who he prided himself in knowing all of their names and where they came from, and where they served. He attended many formal events and was so excited to have shaken Lieutenant Governor John Crosbie's hand on Canada Day, and that the Lieutenant called him by his first name, "Mr. Charlie Luter". Thank you to all the staff of the Caribou Veteran's Memorial and also the Health Science Emergency and to 4NA for all of your kindness. He was indeed a humanitarian and will be sadly and ever remembered and ever loved. The Luter Family.

MALONEY, Dale Christopher Barton - It is with great sadness and heartbreak we announce the tragic death of Dale at the young age of 33, in Edmonton, Alberta, where he lived and worked. Dale was known for his big heart and kindness. He was always there to lend a helping hand and reached out to help others, especially people in need. MARTIN, Edward Michael (Obbie) - Died quickly and peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on August 13, 2012, at the age of 105 years. Predeceased by his wives, Ellen Gregory Martin and Angela Jackman Martin; infant son Michael; Brother Gerard; and Sisters Pauline Martin Dawson and Mary Martin. Leaving to celebrate his long and splendid life are his daughters: Sister Sheilagh Martin (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Mary Margaret Martin Rowe (Toronto, Ontario), and Joanne Fahey (Joe) (Kelligrews, NL). Beloved Grandad of Jennifer Thomas (Larry) (Labrador City, NL), Jillian MacLean (Charles) (Brantford, Ontario) and Caroline Martin-Rowe (Toronto, Ontario). Great-Grandad of Julia Thomas, Josie and Matthew MacLean. Also leaving to celebrate his life are Steve (Denise), Robin, Karen, David (Marie), Shirley and extended members of the Jackman Family. Nieces and nephews in the Dawson, Martin, Battcock and Gregory families, as well as many special friends from his long and rich life in Buchans and St. John's. Born in St. John's on July 9, 1907, he was educated at St. Bonaventure's College (St. John's, NL), St. Mary's University and Nova Scotia Technical College (Halifax, Nova Scotia) where he was graduated as a mining engineer. He was a charter member of the Newfoundland Branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy where his work was acknowledged provincially and nationally. Obbie spent 37 of his happiest years in Buchans, 16 of those as general manager, where he was a visionary leader of the development of a vibrant and healthy community. As a dedicated sportsman, he was a pioneer in the building and development of the Newfoundland Amateur Hockey Association. He was a lover of the arts, music, and nature, especially his garden. He was a man who made a difference by his time on this earth. Family wish to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, especially, 2 west and 2 north. MARTIN, John Thomas - On Sunday, August 5, 2012, heaven was filled with smiles and hugs when John met up with his mom Bridget and dad Andrew; his brothers: Alex and Ned and baby sister Bridgie. Far too soon his lifelong partner, friend and love Sharon, had to let him slip away after trying so hard to have him stay. PARSONS, Joseph R. - Passed peacefully away, following a prolonged illness, at his son's home in St. John's, surrounded by his family, on August 21, 2012, Joseph Rennison Parsons, aged 89 years, of Lumsden. Joe was born in Lumsden, Newfoundland, on January 4, 1923. He lived most of his life in Lumsden, a place he really loved. In their later years, Joe and his wife, Ivy, spent a major part of the year living in St. John's, first with their daughter, Wanda, and more recently with their son, Jeffrey, and their families. Leaving to mourn his beloved wife, Ivy, the love of his life for 70 years, who cared for him tirelessly during his long illness; his sons: Scott (Loretta Bradley, deceased) and Jeffrey (Katherine Gallagher); his daughters: Sandra (James Cooze) and Wanda (James Flynn); and his grandchildren, whom he adored: Karen Parsons, Kim Parsons, Jason Parsons (Vanessa Voss), James Cooze (Sandra Henning), Justin Cooze, Sandi Cooze, Sarah Flynn (Kevin Doyle), Lauren Flynn, Alanna Flynn, and James Flynn; his great-grandson, Milo; his brother Howard (Josephine Whalen) and his sister Ruth (Lemuel Goodyear, deceased); as well as a circle of other relatives and friends. Jack was born and resided on a small island in Bonavista Bay North, Sidney Cove until his family resettled in Wareham in 1957. He completed high school at Wareham, enrolled at Memorial University, St. John's and graduated with a BA degree and a BA (Ed.) degree. His 30 year teaching career included time in several communities including Isle Aux Morts, Wareham, Green Island Cove, Gambo, Badgers Quay, Lumsden and Trinity (Bonavista Bay). He was an active member of the Indian Bay Lion's Club for over 40 years and served as District Governor, District 41-S2 in 1995-96

POWER, Clarence William - On August 21, 2012, I lost my best friend and husband, Clarence Power. Born in Gander February 20, 1955. From 1957 - 2012 resided in his beloved Harbour Main. A sincere and special thank you to all of Thomas' caregivers in the Coronary Care Unit at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital especially cardiologist, Dr. Fallows and critical care nurses. Thomas was very involved with the sea cadet movement for most of his life. He served in various positions including Commanding Officer of RCSCC Terra Nova, HMCS Avalon, HMCS Gimli in Manitoba and HMCS Qu'appelle in Saskatchewan. He retired in June, 1995. Thomas also spent over 41 years with the Navy League of Canada. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus with a Fourth Degree honourary life membership. Prior to his death, Thomas was employed for over 17 years with the Corps Commissionaires of Newfoundland and Labrador at the House of Assembly in St. John's. Thomas was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour which he loved sharing with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Passed peacefully away at Brampton Civic Hospital (Brampton, Ontario), surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 16, 2012, after a lengthy and courageous battle with breast cancer. Susanna was born to Sadie and John Rose of St. John's, NL on July 1, 1970. Susanna is predeceased by her father John and brother Johnny. RYAN (nee MacLellan), Margaret - Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 after a four year battle with cancer, in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband John (1998). SPENCER, William (Bill) Robert - Pasadena, NL, August 26, 1949 - August 27, 2012. Passed peacefully away in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital with his family at his bedside on Monday, August 27, 2012 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer, William Robert Spencer of Pasadena, NL at the age of 63 years. Bill was born in Cul de Sac West, a small, now resettled community on the southwest Coast of the Province, son of the late Samuel and Esther Spencer (nee Hardy). He grew up in Port aux Basques and then worked for more than 35 years with the Provincial Department of Works, Services and Transportation. Bill was predeceased by his brother Sam and sister Millie. 86, New Ulm, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter, MN. The daughter of John and Agnes (Foley) Janes, was born December 11, 1925, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. She attended St. Patrick's Convent High School of St. John's, where she earned a Certificate of Music from the Trinity College of Music, London, England. Dorothy traveled to the United States in 1947 where she was employed as a book keeper at a major department store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She married John St. John, August 27, 1949 at St. Veronica Catholic Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Survived by daughters: Paula Marti and her husband Georg of New Ulm, MN; Carmel Liberman and her husband Michael of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; grandchildren: G. Adam Marti and his wife Barbara, New Ulm, MN; Frieda Marti and her husband Christopher, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; John Marti, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and Benjamin Marti, Mankato, MN; great-grandchildren: Toni Tauer, Griffin Marti, and Ava Marti all of New Ulm, MN; and siblings, Edward (Ned) Janes, Kavata, Ontario, Canada, Angela Burns, Dexter, Michigan, Marie Ryan and her husband John, of St. John's Newfoundland, John (Jack) Janes and his wife Rita of St. John's Newfoundland, and Carmel Olin and her husband, Richard of Arvada, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy retired from 20 years of service at Cooper Industries, Milwaukee and moved to New Ulm in 2000 where she began working in the family business, Morgan Creek Vineyards, helping in the kitchen until her health required her to reduce her physical activity. She continued book keeping at the winery until 2011. She enjoyed working with the winery staff immensely, everyone there called her "Grandma Dot". Dorothy loved playing the piano, singing - especially Irish Folk Songs - and she remembered the lyrics to every tune. She was an avid BBC News fan. Dorothy was feisty, fun and "tough as nails". Her strength and devotion to her family in the U.S. and overseas was a beautiful testament to her love of life and her faith. Her daily presence will be deeply missed, but her memory has sent its roots to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dermott and his wife, (Peg), Dorothy's childhood best friend, St. John's Newfoundland, and nephew Gerard Janes, St. John's, Newfoundland. A private memorial service is planned for September 30, 2012 at Morgan Creek Vineyards, New Ulm, MN. SUTTON, George E. - Of Milltown, Bay D'Espoir at the age of 97. Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012. Predeceased by his loving wife of over 60 years, Rita; brothers: Hubert, Gordon (Tilly), Clyde (Millie); sister Maggie Perry (George); son-in-law Mike Cheeseman and special friend Gladys Matchem. George will be lovingly remembered by his five children: Mack (Liz), Marina Cheeseman, George Jr. (Glenda), Kathy (Keith) Adams and Dave (Brenda). Also will be dearly missed by his brother Herb (Winnie), sister Millie (George) and sisters-in-law Charlotte Kendell and Evelyn Sutton. Pop's legacy will live on through his 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He will never be forgotten by the many relatives and friends who shared his life, including those residing at the Greenwood Manor in Milltown. George was a hard working man who was loyal to his faith and spent over 30 years as a dedicated lumberjack. He also worked numerous years for the Department of Highways, Bowaters and he retired from NL Hydro. He loved his family, friends, going to the cabin, playing cards, music, dancing and having a laugh. Much loved husband of Susan and loving father of their children: Jonathan of New York City and Andrea (Peter McGuire) of St. John's. Also father of Shari Beck (Wendy Breuls) of Ontario and Lyse Beck (Peter Connelly) of New Zealand. Beloved grandad of Cole and Rex McGuire. David also leaves sisters and brothers-in-law: Jane and Thomas Smith of St. John's and Jo and Ian Gray of Brighton, ON. Beside his family, David loved music, art, golf, and the theatre. He was cofounder of The Newfoundland Traveling Theatre Company and a longtime supporter of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. For the past 38 years David also loved the many trips to the family summer home in Eastport. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carnell's Funeral Home. In accordance with David's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. For those who wish to pay their respects, visitation will take place at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's on Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. David died as he had always hoped he would, very quickly while enjoying a round of golf with good friends at Terra Nova, but he will be so missed by all of us who loved him so much. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her children at St Patrick's Mercy Home, Agnes Wells of St John's, the last surviving child of Peter and Agnes Tremblett of St Joseph's, Salmonier. Agnes is predeceased by her parents and eight sisters, her first husband Ralph Brown (1969), second husband, Samuel Wells (2004), daughter Janice Scott (1993), and infant children Gerald and Charmin. Left to celebrate her life with loving memories are her children: Glenn Brown, Christine Cull (Phil), Gloria Dawe (Bob), Lorraine Bagg (Lloyd), Marcella Pittman (Malcolm), and Mary Lou Linehan (Jim). She also leaves to mourn three step-children: Ralph Wells (Shirley), Andy Wells (Brenda) and Suzanne Wells. Nanny will also be sadly missed by her many grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. WHALEN, Albert, Jr. - Dec. 9, 1948. Passed away suddenly at his residence on Bell Island, on August 22, 2012. Predeceased by his loving wife Gladys, parents Albert and Mary Whalen, in-laws Albert and Blanche Peddle and brother-in-law Dave Gosine. Leaving to mourn two sons: Joe (Hazel) and John (Laurie); four granddaughters: Natasha, Nicole, Chantelle and Autumn; three grandsons: Jonathan, Brandon and Brady; brothers: Jack (Sarah), Walt (Linda), Charl (Ann), Frank (Rhonda), Les (Anna); sisters: Mary Curnew (Walt), Frances Gosine (Dave), Rose Whalen (Craig), Tina Thorne (Craig), also a large circle of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and a special thank you to one of the best caregivers Lillian Mitchell, an angel in disguise. For the last 20 years since his accident he has endured constant unbearable pain, now he is with his beloved wife Gladys and hopefully he is at peace. Leaving to mourn wife Reinette; sons: Larry (Rosie), Australia and Rick (Sharon); daughter Janice; sister Isobel (Jack) Trahey; brother Peter (Judy); sisters-in-law: Shirley Woodford and Eileen Woodford and brother-in-law Edsel Langdon. Also leaving to mourn Reinette's children, Celeste, Michelle and Rene and their families; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place. WRICE, William (Billy) - of Luxury Estates, Carbonear who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Billy was 88 years old. He was a wonderful individual with a strong spirit and a smile for everyone he met. He leaves to mourn his loving family: sisters-in-law: Helen Wrice & Frances Wrice both of Carbonear, and a large number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews.
