BADCOCK, James Guy - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, April 21, 1998 James Guy Badcock, Kelligrews, age 61 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Rosalind (Roz); three sons: Philip, Jimmy (Lillian) and Andrew; his mother Phyllis Badcock; one brother Peter Badcock, St. John's; mother-in-law Peg Ploughman, St. John's; also other relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visiting hours: 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10-12 noon Thursday. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, April 23rd at 2 p.m. from the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Cremation to follow.

Passed suddenly away April 26th, 1998, age 74. Veteran of World War 11. Served overseas; worked on Lake Boats 35 years. Leaving to mourn sister Nellie and niece Mary Theresa Brassard at Sudbury, Ontario; two nephews; Pat Sullivan, St. John’s. Peter Sullivan, Renews. Cremation already taken place, burial Mass will be Thursday, May 21st, 1998 , 11 am at Holy Apostles Church in Renews.

Bennett, Helen
Passed peacefully away on Monday, April 20th, 1998, aged 79 years. Leaving to mourn, brother William Bennett, wife Marjorie; sister Paula, Mrs. Gordon Nurse of Perth, Ontario; nieces and nephews; Lillian Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, William Sullivan, wife Marion, Regina, Sask., Patricia, Mrs. James Windsor, Paul Bennett, wife Ellen, Ontario, John Bennett, wife Patsy, Vancouver, B.C., Mike Nurse, wife Greer, Ottawa, Ontario and Clyde Guy; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; Sean, Robert, Joseph and Matthew Windsor, Shannon and Steven Sullivan, Charlotte Shaw, Patti Sullivan, Scott, Carmen and Rebeccah Nurse, Mark Crysta and Carrie Bennett; also other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road. Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 23rd, 1998 at 9:30 am from St. Teresa’s Church. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

DOYLE, Gregory John - (Korean War Veteran) Member of Ironworkers Local 721 for 40 years. Lived and worked in Toronto, Ontario until his early Retirement in 1990 where he returned to the land he loved so much NEWFOUNDLAND. Greg was also a 26 mile marathoner and was involved in the Terry Fox walks from Marysvale to Holyrood raising money for Cancer research. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family, at the Pallative Care Unit, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, April 7th, 1998 Gregory John Doyle, in his 64th year of Middle Arm, Avondale. Predeceased By his Father George Doyle, Sr , his mother Mary Doyle, his brothers James, Patrick and Edward. Left with fond and loving memories are his devoted Wife of 28 years Shirley Marie at Avondale, his son Glenn at Toronto, and his step-children Sandra Howard, Peter Howard (Holly) all at Kelligrews; his Seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; his sisters Kay, Mary and Betty all in the United States and his sister Madeline at Middle Arm, Avondale; his brothers Chris in Toronto and George at Middle Arm, Avondale; also a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. At Greg's request, he will Be cremated after the 3:00 p.m. service at the Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon. His ashes will be carried to the place he loved the most, BALLAHACK And thrown to the wind. Following the service, you are invited to a reception to celebrate Greg's life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Holyrood.**

GREEN, Amelia Ann - Passed peacefully away at her residence, in the presence of her loving family, on Wednesday, April 29, 1998, Amelia Ann Green. Aged 102 years. Predeceased by her husband Eleazer, 1964; and daughter-in-law Gertrude, 1995. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, three sons: Cluny (Ivy), John and Rev. Charles (Loretta); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Mabel Moores, Badgers Quay; also a number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, Thursday: 7-10 p.m.; Friday: 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 1998 from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail. Interment to follow at the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery, Topsail. HAYES, Margaret M. - Died peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home April 30th, Margaret M. Hayes (Corbett) of St. John's, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Richard Hayes. She leaves to mourn son Richard, wife Christine Mousseau, Upper Gullies; granddaughters: Angelina and Adrienne Hayes; brothers: Terrence Corbett, wife Mary, Ronald Corbett, wife Pauline, and Francis Corbett, wife Marjorie; sisters-in-law: Pauline Corbett and Joan Dunphy; and brother-in-law Jim Walsh; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens' Rehabilitation Centre or the Janeway Hospital. Waking at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road with visitations between 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. The Funeral will be held at St. Pius X Church on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Passed peacefully away, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, April 23, 1998 at the Health Sciences Centre, Madge MacDonald of Portugal Cove, aged 72 years. Predeceased by her husband Walter MacDonald on April 23, 1988. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughter Betty Lou (Howard) Churchill, Portugal Cove; son Douglas (Marilyn) MacDonald, Portugal Cove; three granddaughters; Arlene (Rick ) Martin, St. John's, Dena (Philippe) Pautel, Halifax and Jody Churchill, Portugal Cove; grandson John (fiancee Angela) MacDonald; great-granddaughter Victoria Martin; great-grandson Dominic Pautel; mother Louise Somerton (Hoyles-Escasoni); sister Jean Somerton, Portugal Cove; brothers; Charles "Chuck" (Phyllis) Somerton and Austin (Gen) Somerton, both of Toronto; aunt Madeline Tucker, St. Philips; three sisters-in-law; Tina Davis, Olive Ruthledge and Nina MacDonald, all of Nova Scotia; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and members of the Memorial United Church Choir. PYNN, Lewis C. - Passed peacefully away at the Grace Hospital on Tuesday, April 28th, 1998, age 72 years, of Bell Island. Predeceased by his daughter Vivian; his parents: Joseph and Julia Pynn; brothers: Gerald, Wilson and Fred; sister Myrtle. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 52 years, Jean (nee Dwyer); daughters: Myrtle (Chris Parsley), Leady (John Nolan), Kathleen (Ken Reid), Ginny (Ed Dunn), Leslie (Brian Reid), Lori (Dwayne Yetman). Loved by grandchildren: Crystal, Brad, Alison, Kerry, Jeff, CJ, Adam and Greg; brother Joe; sisters: Margaret Leonard, Jean Mulrooney, Alethia Hennessey; and special relative Ruth O'Rourke; also a large circle of other relatives and friends.
