DALY, Nicholas, M.D., FRCSC, (1925-2006) - A true Irish gentleman has died. On April 1, Dr. Nicholas Daly, originally from Midleton, Co. Cork, joined Margaret in heaven. With Irish music in the background, Mary Peggy, Eithne, Paddy and Nora said good-bye. To quote Nick, "I came in '54, got married in '55, had Mary in '56, and Peggy in '57." His plan was to stay for one year, working at the Cottage Hospital in Placentia, but he met Margie Connors, and decided to stay. Nick and Marg lived and worked throughout Canada while he was in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and in 1961, they came back to Newfoundland. For Nicholas, medicine was an art form and a calling. There wasn't a day of his life that he didn't love his work. And that is his legacy. Grateful for his decision to stay is his family: Mary, Peggy (Maggie, Paddy, and Aidan), Eithne and Carl (Nicholas, Brendan and Claire), Paddy (Erin, James, Kathleen and Michael), and Nora and Rod.
His spirit has touched not only them.
