BRENNAN Brother FRANCIS FABIAN, C.F.C.
The family of the late Brother Francis F. Brennan and his community of Christian Brothers would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who helped ease our sorrow at the passing of our beloved Brother Francis. A special thank you to relatives and friends for their many acts of kindness, prayers, Mass cards, etc. during this difficult time as well as to the bereavement team of the Basilica Parish for their welcome assistance. Particular thanks to the staff of 7th floor West of St. Clare's, to the staff of the Dr. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic, and to the V.O.N. for their care for Brother Francis during his illness, to Fathers Fred Brown and Francis Slattery, to Monsignor Denis Walsh and to the chaplaincy staff at St. Clare's for their spiritual ministrations which Brother Francis so much appreciated. A very special thank you to Archbishop Brendan O'Brien and Archbishop Penney, to Monsignor John Wallis and Monsignor Francis Coady, to Father Winston Rye, S.J. and Father Kevin McKenna, S.J., to Father Keith Goldrup, C.S.R. and Fr. Edward Walsh for their assistance at the Mass of Christian Burial as well as to the Patrician pallbearers, the organist, and cantor and the Basilica staff. Many thanks also to Caul's Funeral Home for their caring and expert services. To the Presentation Sisters at the Mother House in Cathedral Square a special thanks is due for their generous offer, at considerable sacrifice to themselves, of their own dining facilities for the use of the mourners after the Mass of Christian Burial. BURKE Stella (FOLEY) - July 6, 1918 - May 10, 2003
The family of the late Stella Burke of Tilting, Fogo Island would like to express their thanks for all the kindness shown to them during the recent illness and death of their mother. Our many friends and family members who called, visited, emailed, sent food, sympathy cards, Mass cards, donations to the Children's Wish Foundations, flowers, attended the wake and funeral - you all helped make a difficult time much easier to bear. Our grateful thanks to the wonderful staff of 7th Floor West, St. Clare's Hospital, Dr. Deirdre Sheahan, Sister Monica Hickey, Father Browne, Father Slattery, and her family physician, Dr. Mercedes Penton, all of whom went beyond the call of duty to make Mom's final days so comfortable. We also would like to express our appreciation to father John Adde-Nweah (Parish Priest, Tilting) and Father Kevin Barker and to all who participated in the beautiful Funeral Mass. Special thanks to our friends and relatives in Tilting who treated us so wonderfully during those trying days and to those who came from off the island to say their final good-bye. Thanks also to Susan at Barrett's Funeral Home and Gary and Janice Keats at Fogo Island Funeral Home. The family of the late Helen Butt wish to express our appreciation and thanks to the family and many friends who shared their sympathy and support during our time of great sadness and loss. CARTER Florence B. - April 17, 1932 - April 1, 2003
We, the family of the late Florence Carter (nee Bartlett), wish to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the many special people who helped alleviate the sorrow caused by the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother. To everyone who visited the funeral home, made donations in her memory, delivered gifts of food, extended support through sympathy cards, mass cards, telephone calls and prayers, we will always remember your kindness and the comfort it provided. A special thank you to the Sisters and staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home, especially to all those on 3 West who showed such gentleness and compassion during her stay and gave spiritual comfort during her last days. Your work truly is a calling. A special thank you to the Ven. Archdeacon Cyrus Pitman, rector of St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church for the tremendous support provided to our family during those difficult days and for the beautiful final service. CASHIN AUGUSTINE (GUS) M. - August 23, 1937 - May 9, 2003
We, the family of the late Augustine (Gus) Cashin, would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to relatives and friends who helped to make our loss a little easier to bear. We gratefully acknowledge the many phone calls, Mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers, food, and monetary donations that were made in his memory. To Drs. Kirby, Smith, Ganguly, and the staff of the Cancer Clinic, the staff of the ENT Unit of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Nurses Davis, Mutford and Beckett, Dr. Button and the staff of the James Paton Memorial Hospital, we thank you all for your support, kindness and compassionate care. We acknowledge the visits to the hospital by Fathers Barker and Heale. To the pallbearers and all those who took part in the funeral Mass, especially Fathers McCarthy, Mochiah and Barker, thank you for a beautiful Mass. For the reception after the Mass, we thank the R.C. Church Committee. We offer special thanks to Pritchett's funeral home for their personal and professional care. We, the family of the late Reginald James Coates of St. John's, would like to express our appreciation to the many relatives and friends who helped to alleviate the sorrow at the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. Special thanks to the staff of Hoyles Escasoni for their wonderful care, especially Kelly, Ruby, and Jean of East 2. As well we would like to thank Dr. Patel for the kindness and understanding he showed us during this most difficult time. Thank you to Fr. CRANE Ellen M. (RYAN) - August 13, 1909 - May 10, 2003
We, the family of the late Ellen M. (Nell) Crane, wish to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to our relatives and friends for the support offered at the time of our Mother's passing. We would especially like to thank the Staff of Hoyles Escasoni Transition Unit for their personal and professional care of our Mother, and The Staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home 1 South. Sincere thanks are extended to Father Jack Hall and Bereavement Committee of St. Pius X Church for the beautiful service. To Carnell`s Funeral Home for their kindness, caring and professionalism. FAHEY Alice (Spurvey) - October 5, 1919 - April 18, 2003
The family of the late Alice Fahey wishes to express sincere gratitude to all who helped alleviate our sorrow in the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Thank you to the staff of ER and 4SB, HSC, especially Drs. Hoppe and Ogunyemi. Special thank you to Fr. Browne and Pastoral Care at the HSC, Fr. Craig and the Bereavement Team and Choir of Sacred Heart Parish, Placentia, and both Caul's and Maher's Funeral Homes. Thanks to our cousins - the Traverse family and all family members who paid tribute in prayer (Mary & Tony Tilley), readings (Lorraine Holden, Sandra Janes) and song (sons-in-law: Robert Follett, Jimmy Lee Howard and grandson Ryan Fahey). Our heartfelt thanks go out to all family and friends who sent cards, flowers and food, with special mention to Alice and Harry Hunt. On April 21, 1945, John Fahey and Alice Spurvey were united in Holy Matrimony at Sacred Heart Parish Church, Placentia. Fifty-eight years later on April 21, 2003, following her Funeral Mass and being led by her twelve children, Alice Fahey departed from that same church to her final resting place next to her husband, John. Perpetual gratitude to our Lord Jesus, who, having experienced the gift of a loving mother, bestowed that same gift on our family. For all of us she did her best. May God grant her eternal rest. FLEMING
On Saturday, April 12, 2003, we said farewell to a "special person"; a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Although his loss has left a void in our hearts, it helps to know that we were truly blessed to have had him in our lives. We sincerely thank all our relatives and friends who surrounded us with visits, love and care. A special thank you to Rev. Father Pat Power for the beautiful Vigil and Mass of Christian burial. Thanks to the St. Vincent's Lions Club and to all who recited rosaries. Thanks to Linda, Anna, Robert and choir members and to all who participated in the various ministries of the Mass. For thoughtful professional guidance throughout, we thank Anita and staff of Stamp's Funeral Home. We gratefully acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy through your visits and hugs, Mass and sympathy cards, floral arrangements, telephone calls, monetary donations, gifts of food and prayers. A very special thank you to Rev. Father Joseph D. Barbour for his many prayers, visits and support during Neil's illness. We also offer our thanks to Father Browne, Dr. Rorke, Dr. O'Shea and team members as well as the 4th Floor Nursing staff of the Health Sciences Complex for your professional care and compassion. The family of the late Hayward A. Gosse, would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many relatives and friends for such wonderful help and support during our time of sorrow. Cards, food, flowers, phone calls, donations in Hayward's memory and visits to the funeral home, helped alleviate the sorrow in the sudden passing of a wonderful husband, father and Granddad. Also, thanks to Barrett's Funeral Home for their compassion and understanding as well as their professionalism. We, the family of the late Gordon Richards would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who shared their sympathy and support during our loss. WHIFFEN William R. - 1926-2003
It is with very grateful hearts that we say thank-you to our neighbours, friends and relatives including staff at 4SA and Dialysis Unit at Health Sciences Centre and Bonavista Hospital for their help and support during Willie's sickness and death. To those who conducted and attended the funeral service we say thank-you. Also, many thanks for visits to the hospital and Funeral Home, including telephone calls, cards, flowers, messages, food and donations in memory. The family of the late Winnifred J. White wishes to thank very sincerely the many friends, former neighbors and relatives who helped to ease the sorrow resulting from the death of our wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Our thanks and appreciation to all who visited or called, sent sympathy cards and floral tributes or made memorial donations in mothers memory. Special thanks to Rev. Dr. Wayne Cole and Rev. Sam Wigston for the service at Barrett's Chapel and for the prayers at the graveside, and as well to the pallbearers - Wayne and Gary Puddicombe, Geoff and Craig White, Kenneth Noseworthy, Gordon Parsons and to the staff at Barrett's Funeral Home for your caring attitude and professionalism. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic and the nurses on 4 South A and 4 North A; to nurses Tony Moores and Jerry Hearn, the kindness and comfort you all brought Alec were greatly appreciated.
