Obituaries for Trinity Bay District

The obituaries appear here, as they appeared in The Telegram on the dates noted with each entry. For the convenience of researchers, the first mention of a Trinity Bay community has been highlighted. Only those obituaries from 1982 have been included here. The Evening Telegram, August 8, 1983, p. 2

BANNISTER - Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on Sunday, August 7th, 1983, Earl Bannister of Port Rexton, Trinity Bay, age 72 years. Left to mourn his loving wife Annie, one daughter Clara and husband Robert Goldsworthy of Port Rexton, one son Gerald and wife Marina of St. John's., 6 grandchildren John and Andrew Goldsworthy, Elizabeth Ann, Stephen Jerry and Michael Bannister. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Church Repair Fund, Port Rexton. Burial will be from Christ Church, Port Rexton, on Wednesday, August 10th.

COURAGE - Hilma G. (Nee Johnson) formerly of Buchans, Nfld., wife of the late C. O. Courage, passed away suddenly at Pampano Beach, Florida on Wednesday July 27th, 1983 in her 76th year. Left to mourn are her children Daphne, C. O. Jr., Doreen, Ted, Dawn, Eric and Diane, plus a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also three sisters and two brothers. Funeral and burial service were held at Pampano Beach on Saturday, July 31, 1983.

(NOTE: The husband of the deceased was from Catalina, NF.)

HARNUM - Passed peacefully away at Bonavista on July 11, 1983, Mr. Frank Harnum, aged 73, formerly of Port Union and a resident of Escarsoni Senior Citizen's Home for the past 6 years. He leaves to mourn brother Eliol at Bonavista, sister Hattie (Mrs. George Mills) Sarnia, Ontario, Annie (Mrs. Lewis Genge) Glovertown, Lucy (Mrs. William Sutton) Baie De Verde, Nettie (Mrs. Fred Cousins) and Doreen (Mrs. Jim Squires) both of St. John's. Also a large number of friends and relatives. Funeral to take place Wednesday from Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista to Bethany United Church at Catalina. In lieu of flowers donations to Bethany United Church, Catalina, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

RANDELL - Passed peacefully away at her daughter's residence, 199 Freshwater Road, Thursday, June 16, 1983, Elizabeth Randell, aged 81 years. Leaving to mourn sons: Ralph and wife Mabel, St. John's; Don and wife Betty and Gordon and wife Nancy, both of Mount Pearl; four daughters Irene and husband Lornard Dommar of Ahambra, California; Hilda and husband James Burt of St. John's; Sue and husband Peter Robinson and Betty and husband Warwick Kelly, both of Mount Pearl; one sister Mrs. Susie Toope, Old Bonaventure, 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue until Saturday, June 18, followed by interment from Christ Church, Port Rexton, June 19. A service will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Church, Port Rexton.
