AYRES, Eli Philip
(December 13, 1935 - September 25, 2006)

Passed away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank, on Monday, September 25, 2006, Eli Philip Ayres of Fortune, age 70 years. Predeceased by wife Elsie Irene, son Cecil, brothers Harry and Howard, and mother, father and step-mother. Leaving to mourn best friend and partner Mary MacDonald at Fortune, 2 daughters Ella at Marystown, and Sharon at St. John's; 6 sons Willis (Cecilia) at North Sydney, Barry (Lillian) at Fortune, Robert (Lora) at Fortune, Gary at Fortune, Jody (Marsha) at Grand Bank, and Travis at Alberta: 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Lionel (Mary) at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Cecil (Doris) at Alberta; sister-in-law Edna Ayres at Fortune; also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. Locke Fiander from All Saint's Anglican Church, Fortune at 2 pm on Thursday, September 28th. Interment followed at All Saint's Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Organist was Henrietta Pope. Pall Bearers were: Bob Ayres, Willis Ayres Travis Ayres, Jody Ayres, Derrick Ayres, and Glen Hodge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted tot he care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank, "Where Dedicated People Care."

BONNELL, Jessie Suzzanna  
(August 19, 1944 - September 2, 2006)

Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Leonard A. Miller Centre on Saturday, September 2, 2006 in the presence of her loving family Jessie Suzzanna Bonnell age 62 years of Fortune. Predeceased by her infant daughter Queena, her parents George W. Hillier, Josephine, step-father John Baker, brother Thomas, her mother and father-in-law Harold and Mary Bonnell. She leaves to mourn with many wonderful memories her loving husband of forty-four years Edgar, and her four devoted sons Gary (Maxine), Howard, Ross (Tricia), and Michael (Renee); her six precious grandchildren Stephen and Cullen, Kayla and Kristie, Thomas and Julia; her sisters Annie (Jack) at St. Lawrence, Theresa (Norman) at St. John's, Georgina (Ivan) at Bloomfield; brother Harvey (Emma) at Fortune; sisters-in-law Queena (Mel) at Nova Scotia, Alice (Harold) at Paradise, Vera (Rollie) at Nova Scotia, Mary (Ron) at Paradise; brothers-in-law Cyril (Adelia) at Fortune, Max (Iris) at St. John's, Wilfred (Sandra) at Goulds, Norm (Deloris) at Toronto, Roy (Lorraine) at Foxtrap, Morgan (Thelma) at Manitoba. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Locke Fiander from All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune on Tuesday, September 5th at 2 pm. Interment followed at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Organist was Henrietta Pope. Pall bearers were: Howard Bonnell, Ross Bonnell, Gary Bonnell, Michael Bonnell, Cyril Bonnell and Harvey Hillier. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank, "Where Dedicated People Care."

BOWERING, Mr. Harvey R.
Passed peacefully away at his late residence, Bay Roberts on Friday, September 29, 2006 Harvey R. Bowering, aged 80 years. Predeceased by parents: Edgar and Nellie Bowering; daughters: Bonita (aged, 1 month), Patricia (aged, 8 months); sisters: Clarice (William) Saunders, Dorothy (Jack) French, Olive (Bert) Ryan; brothers: Herb (Beryl), Ted, Reg; brothers-in-law; Cliff Pike, Allan Mercer. Leaving to mourn: wife Ethel Bowering; four sons: Wayne, Bruce, Paul (Debbie), Dennis; five daughters: Carol (Wayne) Efford, Helen (Bob) Newstrom, Judy (Randy) Clarke; two sisters: Mavis Pike, Beulah Mercer; two sisters-in-law: Verna Bowering, Olive Bowering; 18 grandchildren: Suzanne (Ken) Hanngrinson, Valerie, Jonathon, Rebecca, Pauline (fiancé Gerald), Angela, Laura, Danielle, David Bowering, Lisa (Ken) Neville, Michael (Joanne) Efford, Michelle (Ian) Flynn, Mandy (Ryan) Grobety, Melanie, Pamela Newstrom, Travis (fiancée Nellie), Jennifer Clarke, Jamie Newman; 13 great grandchildren: Zachery, Stefan, Christian, Alexander Hallgrinson, Harley Bowering, Joshua, Noah, Abigail, and Jeremiah Efford, Zachary, Devon Grobety, Gavin, Riley Murphy; and a large circle of other relative and friends. Rev. Dr. James Min conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church and Cemetery, Coley's Point on Monday, October 2, 2006. Pallbearers: Wayne Efford, Bruce Bowering, Paul Bowering, Dennis Bowering, Wayne Bowering, Randy Clarke, Bob Newstrom and Michael Efford. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

CHEESEMAN, Ivy
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre September 10, 2006, Ivy Cheeseman of Port au Bras in her 86th year. Predeceased by her husband Ernest. Leaving to mourn son Don of Burin, grandchildren Charlotte and Chloe, great-grandchild Kaylee, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Berdina Ford conducted funeral service at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Port au Bras Tuesday, September 12th. Interment was at St. Andrew's Anglican Church Cemetery in Port au Bras. Pallbearers were Enos Green, Rich Collins, Daniel Pardy and Steven Antle. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home in Salt Pond, Burin.

CORBIN, Marjorie Blanche
(August 14, 1923 - September 23, 2006)

Passed peacefully away at the US Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence on September 23, 2006, Marjorie Corbin of Burin Bay in her 83rd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Linda Hillier (Reginald) of Burin Bay; grandchildren Michael (Selina), Gayeanne (Terrence) and Gloria; great-grandchildren Matthew and Robert; brothers Stanley (Maude) of Dunfield and Lewis of Grand Bank plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by husband Charles.Funeral service was officiated by Major's Garry and Sandra Ward from Serenity Chapel, Burin on Tuesday, September 26th with interment following at Salvation Army Cemetery, Little Salmonier. CROSS, Georgina Marie
(November 13, 1954 - September 30, 2006)

Passed suddenly away at her home in Burin on September 30, 2006, Georgina Cross of Burin in her 51st year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband John; father Nicholas Withers and Bertha of Frenchman's Cove; sons Jason (Sylvia) of Ottawa and Bradley (Christina) of Burin; grandchildren Andrew and Caleigh; sisters Shirley Hooper (John) of Marystown, Lorraine Withers (Jim) of Garnish and Bertha Withers of Marystown; brother Don Withers (Mary) of Marystown; a number of nieces and nephews plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by mother Ethel and special grandparents Susanna and Arthur Hodder. Funeral service was officiated by Rev.John E.K. Nicolle from St. Peter's Anglican Church, Rock Harbour on October 4th. with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Rock Harbour. DODGE, Esther 
(November 2, 1911 - September 10, 2006)

Passed peacefully away at Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank on Sunday, September 10, 2006, Esther Dodge of Harbour Mille, Age 94 years. Predeceased by parents William Henry and Mary Jane Barnes; sisters Blanche, Florence, Stella and Elizabeth; and brothers James, George and Allan. Leaving to mourn: husband John at Blue Crest Home, Grand Bank; three daughters Georgina Pettley (Don) at Alberta; Ellen Dodge (Earle) at Grand Bank; Margaret Baker (Norman) at Harbour Mille; three sons John (Susie) at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Ronald (Cecilia) at Grand Bank; Captain Cecil J. Dodge (Marie) at Hants County, Nova Scotia; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Ruben Barnes (Laura) at Halifax, nova Scotia; sister Dorothy O'Brien at Sidney, Nova Scotia; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Captain Andrew Robertson on Wednesday, September 13th at 2 pm from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Harbour Mille. Interment to follow at St. Mary's' Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Mille. Organist was Mary Brown. Pallbearers were Frederick Dodge, Ronnie Dodge, Brian Dodge, Justin Dodge, Harold Robere, Liander Pike. Donations in her memory may be made to Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

EDWARDS, Alice J.    
(July 11, 1921 - September 6, 2006)

Passed away at the U.S. Memorial Chronic Care Centre September 6, 2006, Alice J. Edwards at the age of 85. Predeceased by her husband Francis, two sons and one grandchild. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Margaret, Robert (Joan), Carroll (Adele), Edgar (Mabel), Rose, Kieran (Jennifer), Frank (Theresa), Melita (Eric), Alice (Cyril), Marilyn (Ray), Judy, Brady, Michelle, Juan (Mary Ellen) and Patrick; brother Robert Kearney; 57 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Father Regis conducted Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 8th. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Cemetery Church Fund, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, St. Lawrence, A0E 1A0. Pallbearers were her sons Robert, Carroll, Edgar, Kieran, Frank and Brady. Crossbearer was Juan. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes.

GUY, Patricia Irene    
(September 27, 1923 - September 2, 2006)

Passed suddenly away at the Health Science Complex, St. John's on September 2, 2006, Patricia Guy of Burin in her 82nd year. Predecease by husband Lindbergh (Lin), son Harold, parents John and Lillian, brothers Herbert, Ronald and Cecil. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Dianne Beasley (Cyril), Jean Dibbon (Lemuel) both of Burin, son Roger (Winnie) of Mount Pearl; grandchildren Jean (Kevin), Heather (Alec), Mark, Amanda, Kristina, Jessica, Kathryn; great-grandchildren Victoria and Alexandra; sisters Alfreda (twin), Pearl, Maud and Dell; sister-in-law Minnie plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Mary Harris from Zion United Church, Collins Cove on September 5th at 1 pm. Creation has taken place. Pallbearers were Mark Dibbon, Roger Guy, Cyril Beasley, Winston Hollett, Allan Moulton and Kevin Smith. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE." Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Centre on September 22, 2006, Oswald Hiscock of Burin in his 64th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Madonna; sons Jim (Maxine) of Marystown, Darryl (Linda) of Brooks, Alberta; daughter Charmaine (Barry) of Corner Brook; 6 grandchildren plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Thomas & Dorothy Hiscock. Funeral Mass was officiated by Father Theodore O'Connor from St. Patrick's Parish Church, Burin on Monday, September 25th with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fox Cove. Palllbearers were Charles Antle, Pius Antle, Michael Power, Eddie Jorgensen, Alec Harston & Alponsus Power. Crossbearer was Joey Day. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

KELLY, Elizabeth Ann
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre September 14, 2006, Elizabeth Ann Kelly of Beau Bois in her 93rd year. Predeceased by husband Ignatius and son John. Leaving to mourn her sons Bob (Margaret) of the Goulds and Jerome (Eileen) of Little Bay; daughter Mary of Beau Bois, brother Jerome Kilfoy of St. John's, 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Flowers gratefully accepted. Fr. Ted O'Conner conducted Funeral mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown, Monday, Sept 18th. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Little Bay. Pallbearers were Bob Kelly, Mike Gaulton, Dean kelly, William Kilfoy, Robert Kelly and David Kelly. Crossbearer was Richard Kilfoy. Funeral arrangements entrusted tot he care of White Dove Funeral Homes.

TURPIN, Robert
Passed suddenly away at the Lansdowne House, Northern Ontario, September 15, 2006, Robert Turpin formerly of St. Lawrence and of Burin in his 55th year. Leaving to mourn his former wife, Elaine; also special friend Julia Tobin; son Scott, daughter Lisa, sisters Josephine Bootland (Ray), Susan Finch (Robert), Mary-Lou Guillot (Dennis), Sheila Christensen (Ted) and brother Adolph Turpin (Joyce). Fr. Regis Kamela conducted funeral mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic church in St. Lawrence Saturday, Sept 23. interment was at Mount Cecilia Cemetery, St. Lawrence. Crossbearer was son Scott. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes.
