GRANDY, Mattie Thelma - 93, of Kingston, formerly of
Halifax, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 in Soldiers
Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Garnish, NL, she was a daughter
of the late William Thomas and Lucy (Day) Walters and is the last surviving
member of her immediate family. Mattie enjoyed walking, knitting and
crocheting. She appreciated the help and company of her many friends
and neighbours. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,
who always delighted in the visits from family members. She is survived
by daughter, Margaret Thelma (Wayne) McCallum, Bible Hill; sons, Bruce
(Myrna Gail) Kingston; William "Bill" (Josephine),
Dartmouth; grandchildren, Cynthia, Michael, Anthony, Lisa, Robert, Wade,
Aaron,Ryan and great-grandchildren, Brent, Zachary, Sydney and Samantha.
She was predeceased by husband Philip "George", sister
Nellie Taylor, brothers, Eugene Walters and William Walters. Visitation

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at Hoyles Escasoni,
a strong, independent lady, loving wife, wonderful mother and inspiring
grandmother, Olga Hodder, age 86 years, of St. John's.
Predeceased by her husband Raymond of Creston South, sister Winnifred
(Stanfield), brothers Everett, Al, Eric, Doug, Jack and Cyril Brown and
good friend and sister-in-law Isobel Brown. Leaving to mourn with fond
and cherished memories, a large family; children: Ronald (Stephanie),
Marie Vardy (Cal), Jim (Carolyn), Yvonne Dawe (Jack), and Dan (Joanne
Hanrahan); grandchildren: Chris, Rod, Pamela, Veronica, Ian, Joshua,
Rachel, Leah, Ray, Adam, Melissa, David and Billy; eight great-grandchildren
who always brought a smile to her face. Also left with fond memories

Funeral Service was conducted by Majors Ross and Doreen Grandy from the
Salvation Army, Seal Cove, Fortune Bay on Friday, October 5th a 2 pm.
Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Seal Cove. Music was
provided by the Salvation Army String Band, Seal Cove. Pall Bearers were:
Sterling Loveless, Clifford Loveless, Ford Loveless, Tony Loveless, Sheldon
Loveless and Glenn Brooks. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the

7, 2007, Hanora Christina Power of Burin in her 68th year. Leaving to
