Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on October 14, 2005, Joseph Adams of Burin. Bay formerly of Tack's Beach in his 82nd year. Predeceased by parents William and Frances, sisters, Rose Warren and Hattie Brown; brothers Charlie Adams & John Adams. Leaving to mourn with fond arid loving memories wife Addie; sons Stanley (Cornelia) of Burin Bay, Hayward (Pearl) of Burin Bay, Arch of Burin Bay, Clarence (Cathy) of Burin Bay; daughters Juanita of Burin Bay, Hazel (Eldon Bemister) of Musgrave Harbour; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth, Warren and Matilda Warren both of Arnold's Cove, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was officiated, by Rev. Berdina Ford from Holy Trinity Church, Ship Cove with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Hodder's Point. Pallbearers were Lori Munden, Goldie Cuff, Albert Adams, Christopher Adams, Cindy Adams and Trina Bemister.

BANFIELD, Shirley M.
Passed peacefully away at the Grand Bank Health Care Centre on Sunday, October 16, 2005, Shirley M. Banfield of Grand Bank, age 45 years. Predeceased by father James Banfield and sisters Doreen and Susan. Leaving to mourn: mother Myrtle at Grand Bank; sisters Elizabeth and Phil at Grand Bank, and Denise Winsor (Trent) at Grand Bank; niece Taylor, and nephews Robert, Terry and Cody. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Michael Li from St. Alban's Anglican Church, Grand Bank on Wednesday, October 19th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Organist was Velma Stewart, soloist was Kerri Harvey and reader was Karen Skinner. Pallbearers were: Larry Osmond, Stanley Osmond, Leonard Loder, Fred Murphy, Ethel Martin, and Karen Skinner. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral home, Grand Bank. "Where dedicated people care."

BARNES, Stanley
Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Home in St. John's, Stanley Barnes of Harbour Mille. He was 77 years old. Predeceased by son Derek in 2004. Left to mourn are his loving wife Blanche, sons Ivan and Paul, daughter Maine (Brian Miller); grandchildren Jamie, Joshua, Devon, Sabrina, Faith and Matthew and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Jim Beaton conducted funeral services at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Harbour Mille Saturday, September 24 with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Mille. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home, Marystown. Pallbearers were members of the Orangemen Lodge.

BLAGDON, Mary Veatrice
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Veatrice Blagdon announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the age of 77 years. She will be sadly missed by three sons: William (Rose) of Kentville, Nova Scotia; Phillip and Chesley, both of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and, two daughters: Marion Hynes of St. Andrew's, NL; Peggy (Chesley) Price of Fortune, NL; and, two sisters: Rose (Donald) Spracklin of Charlottetown, NL; Lucy Pike of St. Lawrence, NL; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; brother, Harold; sisters: Jean, Grace, Bessie, Millie. Cremation took place at Russell's Crematorium, Stephenville. Funeral Service took place on Monday, October 10th at the Salvation Army Church in Fortune with interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery in Fortune.

CLARKE, Leo
Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Inter-faith Home in Grand Bank on Saturday, October 15, 2005, Leo Clarke of Grand Bank, age 82 years. Predeceased by parents William and Jennie Clarke; sister Mary Helen Mitchell; brothers Celestine, William Jr. and Felix. Leaving to mourn: wife Gretta; sons George (Marion) at Brandon, Manitoba, Celestine (Dorothy) at Mount Pearl; daughters Betty Legge (Frazer) at Fort McMurray, Alb., Nora Mossop (John) at Carmel, Indiana, Joyce Chafe (Lance) at Petty Harbour, and Marjorie Strowbridge (Allan) at Garnish. Special grandson Barry Clarke (Marjorie) who took care of him, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and nephew Michael Clarke at English Hr. East. Also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman at the Salvation Army, Grand Bank on Tuesday, October 18th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Music was provided by David Noseworthy ! and Herbert Dunford. Soloist was grand-daughter captain Sherry Williams. Pallbearers were: Barry Clarke, Celestine Clarke, Danny Clarke, Lance Chafe, Craig Chafe and John Mossop. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. Passed peacefully away at the Soldier Memorial Hospital; NS on Saturday, October 22, 2005 Thelma Vivian Gosling of Burin Bay in her 90th year. Predeceased/by husband Richard Gosling in 1980 and sisters Hanna Legrow, Ontario and Helen Adams of Burin.. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Howard and wife Ethel of St. John's; daughter Kaye and husband Jerry Moulton of Greenwood, NS; grandchildren Cathy and.Gerald Wicks of St. John's, Faye and Peter Sullivan of St. John's, and Patty Moulton of Greenwood NS; great-grandchildren Jonathan and Ashley Sullivan,and Adam .and Danny Wicks; sisters Millicent of Barrie,· Ontario, Winnifred of St John's and Lyma and husband Cyril of Burin plus a large circle, of other family and friends. Memorial Service was officiated by Captains Willis and Priscilla Drove from Serenity Chapel on October 27th with interment following at Salvation Army Cemetery, Big Sa1monier. Passed suddenly away at her residence in Garnish on October 29, 2005, Laura Grandy in her 84th year. Predeceased by husband Jacob; son Brian, great granddaughter Caitlyn Grandy and sister Ester Anne Newport. Leaving to mourn daughter Doris and husband Eric Grandy of Grand Bank; sons Gordon and wife Mary, Keith and wife Ethel; Marven and wife Margaret and Wallace and wife Wanda all of Garnish; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters Ginny Dobbin, Olive Poole, Francis Hatch and Lorraine Lawrence; brother Charlie Grandy; brother-in-law Chas Grandy plus a large circle of other family and friends. Captain Lavern Fudge officiated funeral service from Salvation Army Church, Garnish on November 2nd with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Garnish. Pallbearers were sons Wallace, Keith, Gordon and Marven; grandson Fabian and son-in-law Eric. Funeral arrangements entrusted to serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

GREEN, William Albert Jr

Passed peacefully at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on October 2, 2005 William Green Jr. of Lewin's Cove in his 60th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Beatrice; sons Robert of Marystown, Carl (Tana) of Marystown; daughters Tammy of Lewin's Cove, Tracey (Victor) of Lewin's Cove, Natasha (Richard) of Ontario; grandchildren Kathryn, Heather, Kayla, David and Sananta; sisters Bernice, Hazel, Beryl, Marie, Helen and Ruby; brother Cyril; sisters-in-law Alice and Margaret; brothers-in-law George and Douglas plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Russell Lodge on October 4th from Hope United Church, Lewin's Cove with interment following at Hope United Cemetery, Lewin's Cove. Pallbearers were Wally Beck, Harold Beck, Learo Inkpen, Frankie Brewer, Eugene Brewer and Leroy Baker. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

HILLIER, Velma Dinah
Passed peacefully away at Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, St. John's on October 28, 2005, Velma Dinah Hillier of Fortune in her 89th year. Predeceased by husband Thomas, son Fred and daughter Ellen. Leaving to mourn sons: Lester (wife Beverley) of Creston South; Lloyd (wife Yvonne) of Paradise; Henry (wife Solonge) of Labrador City. Daughters: Joan Hillier of Halifax; Rose (husband Thomas Barnes) of St. John's; Gladys Hedd. Sisters Leah and husband Bert Lundrigan, St. John's; Ellen Noseworthy, St. John's and Beatrice Gilstrom, Florida. 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jim Pollard at All Saints Anglican Church in Fortune, on October 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery in Fortune. Donations to her memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Pallbearers were her sons: Lloyd, Henry and Lester Hillier and her grandsons Nelson Barnes, Jason Barnes and Steve Hillier. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral home Ltd., Creston South.

Predeceased by parents Samuel and Eleanor Hiscock; and sisters Emma, Frances and Bertha. Leaving to mourn: wife Carrie; 4 daughters Clara Wilson (Murray) at Thornhill, Ontario, Ruby Reynolds (Hector) at Fort McMurray, Alberta, Gertie Follett (Calvin) at Grand Beach, and Doris Crowley (Wilson) at Grand Bank; 5 sons Sam (Jessie) at Grand Beach, Max (Violet) at Grand Beach, Bert (Joanne) at Brampton, Ontario, Ron (Ann) at Grand Beach, and Frank (Dawn) at New Brunswick; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother Donald (Doris) at St. John's, 3 sisters Rose Head (Harry) at Grand Falls-Windsor, Clara Milley at St. John's and Melinda Abbott (Chesley) at Port Au Bras. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. Chris Andrews on Friday, October 7th at 2 p.m. from the United Church, Garnish. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Grand Beach. Organist was Mona Cluett. Pallbearers were: sons: Sam Hiscock, Max Hiscock, Bert Hiscock, Frank Hiscock, Ron Hiscock, and grandson Michael Hiscock. KILFOY, Violet
Passed peacefully away October 16, 2005 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Violet Kilfoy of Little Bay. She was 92 years old. Predeceased by husband Luke; brothers Jack, Willie, Ronald and Stan; sister Mary Ann; grandson Calvin, great-grandchildren Brandon and Morgan. Left to mourn are son Peter (wife Juanita) of Little Bay and daughter Marion (husband Matt Murphy) of Little Bay. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Bridget Kilfoy and Hannah Ryan; brother Edward Farrell; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church, Marystown Tuesday, October 18th with interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Little Bay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Matthew Murphy Jr., Kenneth Murphy, Eric Kilfoy, Robert Murphy, Brian Kilfoy and Luke Murphy. Cross bearer was Corina Rennie.

Passed peacefully away Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Emily Pike of Bay L'Argent. She was 90 years old. Predeceased by first husband Reginald Pike, sons Roy and Frank and second husband John Pike. Left to mourn are sons Keith (wife Dale), Cyril (wife Donna) of Nova Scotia and Randell (wife Theresa) of Marystown; daughters Rhonda (husband William Mitchell), Carrie (husband Terence Mitchell) and Madonna all of Nova Scotia. Also leaving to mourn 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Jim Beaton conducted funeral services with cremains at St. Hilda's Anglican Church Bay L'Argent. Interment at St. Hilda's Anglican Cemetery, Bay L'Argent. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral home, Marystown.

Predeceased by husband Bill Power in 1958, and husband Austin Pike in 1992.Left to mourn are sons Bill (wife Dianne) of Marystown, Karl (wife Jennifer) of Fort McMurray, Ken (wife Sandra) of Torbay; daughters Karen (husband Shawn Farrell) of Marystown, Joan (husband John Hawkins) of Russell, MB, Margaret (husband Russ Murphy) of Marystown, Flora (husband Ern Pennell) of St. John's and Bride of Saskatoon. Also leaving to mourn are sisters-in-law Annie Brennan of Marystown and Margaret Brennan at the US Memorial Health Care of St. Lawrence and Flora Beal of Ambler, PA. USA; brother Ignatius (Mamie) of Marystown, 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown, Tuesday, October 25th with interment at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Marystown. Passed suddenly away Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Louise Slaney of Spanish Room. She was 70 years old. Predeceased by parents Elizabeth and Ambrose Brake. Left to mourn husband Leo; daughters Jackie (husband Larry Mullett) of Burin and Leona (husband Jason Ryder) of Halifax; grandchildren Beth Ann (Paul Rumsey), Larry Jr., Michael and Veronica; and great-grandchild Emma. Also leaving to mourn sister Monica (Hughie) of Spanish Room; brothers Gordon (Lucille) Brake, Vincent (Mary Jo) Brake and Bernard Brake all of Spanish Room. Funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church, Marystown Saturday, October. 1 with interment at St. John De Boca Roman Catholic Cemetery, Spanish Room. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home, Marystown. Pallbearers were Hughie Slaney Jr., Andre Slaney, Eddy Slaney, Kenny Brake, Thomas Hannam and Phil Power. Cross bearer was Edward Power.

Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on October 16, 2005, Garland Thorne of Marystown in his 67th year. Predeceased by father Ralph. Leaving to mourn, wife Hilda; sons: Garland (wife Laverne) of Hinton, Ab; daughters: Gloria Pittman of Brooks, Ab; mother Dorothy of Burnt Island; sister Ruth Hardy of Burnt Island, sister-in-law Edith Marsden of Louisburg, N.S.; 2 grandchildren Johnathon Pittman and Jasmine Thorne and a large circle of relatives and friends.Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Nicolle at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Marystown, on October 19th at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery in Creston South. Donations to his memory may be made to the family. Pallbearers were Dave Sperry, Rudy Banfield, Jessie Cribb, Gordon Hickman, Isaac Fitzpatrick and Tim Murray. WALSH, Susanna Mary
Passed peacefully away October 14, 2005 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Susanna Mary Walsh of Marystown. She was 61 years old. Predeceased by mother Eileen, father Michael Thomas, brothers Michael and Chester and sister-in-law Maureen. Left to mourn are brothers Emile, Stan (wife Alberta) and Joe (wife Lillian); sister-in-law Mary; nephew Bob; nieces Yvonne, Eileen, Kayla, Joanne, Gina and a special niece Shirley. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown Monday, October 17th. Interment was at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Marystown. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to White Dove Funeral Home, Marystown. Pallbearers were Shirley Murphy, Yvonne Power, Eileen Walsh, Kayla Hodder, Kenneth Murphy and Bradley Murphy. Cross bearer was Joshua Murphy.

Predeceased by parents Clyde and Melinda Welsh and grandfather Capt. Thomas B. Welsh. Leaving to mourn wife Loretta at Torbay, son Roger wife Colleen and grandson Thristan at Torbay; brother Clayton and wife Marjorie at Grand Bank; nieces Cawley and Kelli at Grand Bank; sister-in-law Eileen and family at Terrenceville; brother-in -law John and family at Edmonton, Alberta, and aunt Dorothy Prior at Mount Pearl. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. Crewe on Tuesday, November 1st at 11 a.m. from Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Grand Bank. Music was provided by Tom Cumben. Pallbearers were: Ned Douglas, Reg Kelland, Roy Fox, Wade Prior, Samuel Prior and Tom Kearley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.
