ABBOTT, Stephen
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Thursday, March 20, Stephen Abbott of Little Bay. He was 81 years old. Predeceased by father Jerry and mother Rachel; brothers Jim, Jerry, John and Peter; sisters Elizabeth and Margaret. Left to mourn are sister Almena and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Father Ray Earle conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Saturday, March 22. Internment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Little Bay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were George Hanrahan, Glenn Hanrahan, Jamie Hanrahan, Jim Cross, Rodney Hanrahan and John Pad Hanrahan. Cross bearer was Jeremy Cross.

BRAKE, John William
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Monday, March 24, 2003, John William Brake of Marystown. He was 73 years old. Predeceased by brother Robert. Left to mourn are wife Elizabeth; sons Albert (wife Geraldine) of Marystown and John (wife Linda) of Okotokes, British Columbia; daughters Meline of Calgary, Geraldine of Surrey, B.C., Mary (Harold Walters) of Marystown and Denise (Terry Adams) of Marystown. Also leaving to mourn sisters Mary Antle (late Lester) of Burin, Bride Ryan (late Leo) of Burin, Meline Bennett (Ted), Flora (John) of St. John's, Julie (Bill) of Labrador and Agnes of St. John's; sister-in-law Faye; brothers Ray (Millie) of St. John's, Patrick (Sarah) of St. Lawrence and Clarence of St. Lawrence; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Father Ray Earle conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown Wednesday, March 26. Internment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Marystown. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Albert Brake, John Brake, Dennis Brake, Shane Brake, Gerald Brake, John Drake, Terry Adams and Kevin Smith. Cross bearer was Terrence Adams.Date posted: 04/01/03

CLARKE, Bertha Alice
Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on March 6, 2003, Bertha Alice Clarke of Baine Harbour in her 76th year. Leaving to mourn, Husband Frank Sr., Sons: Frank Jr. (Wife Pam of Rushoon), Edward (Wife Donna of Fort McMurray, AB); Daughters: June (Husband Max White of Pasadena), Evelyn (of Toronto, ON); Brother; Charlie Pevie of Clarke's Beach; Sister-in-laws: Mabel and Stella Clarke: Brother-in-law: Charles Clarke, Special Nephew: Edward Whittle: 5 Grandchildren: Sharon White, Tina Clarke, Jennifer & Neil McTaggart, and Eddie Clarke: 1 Great-Grandchild: Matthew Garcin, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Harris at St. Mark's Anglican Church in Baine Harbour, on March 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Internment was at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery in Baine Harbour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mental Health Association. Pallbearers were Edward Clarke, Frank Clarke, Eddie Clarke, Edward Whittle, Cecil Keating, Austin Whittle. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South.

FRANCIS, Earl
Passed peacefully away at his residence in Grand Bank Monday, Mar. 31, Earl Francis, aged 69 years. Predeceased by parents Morgan and Annie Francis, brothers Tom and Benjamin and sister Bertha. Left to mourn are wife Gladys; son Dennis; sisters Charlotte Follett of Grand Bank, Mildred Saunders of Ontario and Eleanor Davis of Vancouver; brothers Melvin (wife Dorothy) of Garnish and Reuben (wife Hazel) of Ontario; mother-in-law Norah Lockyer of Boat Harbour; sister-in-law Jean Francis of Ontario and Jean Francis of Grand Bank; brother-in-law Kenneth Hargreaves of Ontario and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 3, from the United Church, Grand Bank. Internment was at the United Church Cemetery, Grand Bank. Officiating clergy was Reverend Raymond A. Case, Organist was Betty Rogers. Pallbearers were Ewan Curtis, Charlie Follett, Bob Bennett, Joe Lockyer, Theodore Lockyer and Leonard Lockyer. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where Dedicated People Care."

FRANCIS, Myrtle
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Sunday, March 23/03, Myrtle Francis of Grand Bank. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jackie) in 1994. She leaves to mourn: Niece - Mary Ann Harris at Wilmington, North Carolina, 3 Nephews - Joseph Harris (wife Alice) at Buffalo, New York; Frank Harris (wife Lorraine) at Buffalo, New York; and Frank Hodges (wife Dianne) at California. Niece by marriage Ethel Pardy (husband Gordon) at Grand Bank, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26/03 from The United Church, Grand Bank. Internment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Grand Bank. Officiating clergy was Rev. Raymond A. Case. Organist was Betty Rogers. Pallbearers were: Keith Crocker, Charles Breon, Jim Grandy, Wayne Lee, Gordon Pardy, Olaf West. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where Dedicated People Care."

GREEN, John B. (Ben)
Passed peacefully away on Friday, March 14 at his home in Fortune, John B. (Ben) Green. Age 85 years. Predeceased by wife Catherine in 1990. Left to mourn are daughters Norma Stacey (Will) of Fortune, Carol Ann Cake (David) of Lewin's Cove and Paulette Foote (Donald) of Foxtrap, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, special friend Ella Pittman of St. Lawrence and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend James Pollard from All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune. Cremation followed. Organist was Greta Price. Pallbearers were Matthew Bobbett, Harold Nash, Edwin Piercey, Thomas Simms, Craig Stacey and Mark Stacey. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank, "Where dedicated People Care." In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune or to the Burin Dialysis Centre Fund.

HACKETT, Clarence J
Passed peacefully away Wednesday, March 5 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in the presence of his loving family, Clarence J. Hackett of St. Bernard's. He was 63 years old. Left to mourn his loving wife Daphne, son Bradley of St. Bernard's, daughters Trudy (husband Carl Myles) of St. Bernard's and Tracey (Douglas Hodder) of Mount Pearl. Also leaving to mourn his mother Catherine Hackett; brothers, Jerome (Mary Francis), William (Margaret) and Manuel (Phyllis); sisters Marjorie (George) Hynes and Pearl (Kevin) Johnston; sister-in-law Mary; grandchildren Matthew, Caleb, Jacob, Joshua and Emma; and a large circle of other relatives, friends, nephews and nieces. Father Jeff Kolonel conducted funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, St. Bernard's Friday, March 7. Internment was at Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard's. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Bradley Hackett, Charlie Hackett, Toby Hackett, Troy Hackett, Bill Hackett and Matthew Myles. Crossbearer was Rod Hackett.

HANRAHAN, Joan
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Tuesday, Mar. 11, Joan Hanrahan of Little Bay. She was 52 years old. Predeceased by mother and father. Left to mourn are her loving husband James: sons Wayne (wife Frances), Jeremy (wife Tracey), Danny of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Conrad (wife Rosie) of Little Bay and father-in-law Michael Hanrahan. Also leaving to mourn sisters Elizabeth Cheeseman (Joe) and Mercedes Rose (Harold); brothers Richard (Edna), Bill (Jackie), Charles (Delilah), John (Pat), Alonzo (Jean) and Calvin (Delores); four grandchildren plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ray Earle conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Marystown Friday, Mar. 14. Internment was at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Little Bay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Charles Power, Dick Power, Bill Power, Jack Power, Alonzo Power and Calvin Power. Cross bearer was Stefan Hanrahan.

Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on February 27, 2003 Mrs. Melinda Rita Hillier of Marystown in her 67th year. Predeceased by daughter Jean, father Frederick. Leaving to mourn, husband Aubrey; sons: Clarence (wife Margaret) of St. Lawrence, Aubrey Jr. (Bernice) of Marystown, David (wife Karen) of Toronto, Earl (Shelley) of Marystown; daughters: Lillian (Bill Rennie) of Marystown, Doreen (husband Harvey Green) of Burin, Jean (Wayne Power) of Marystown, Cora (husband Darryl Mills) of Mount Pearl; Mother Ellen Stacey of Marystown; sisters: Mary (husband Howard Hillier) of Marystown; Helena (husband Fred Robinson) of Mount Pearl; Brothers: Leo Stacey (wife Cora) of N.S.; Marcel Stacey (Helen Rogers) of Marystown; Alphonsus Stacey, Marystown; and Mike Stacey (wife Pearl) of Mount Pearl. 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Robert Peddle at St. Michael's Anglican Church in Creston South, on March 2, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Internment was at St. Michael's/St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery in Creston South. Pallbearers were: her sons - Clarence, David, Aubrey Jr., and Earl Hillier and brothers Leo Stacey and Alphonsus Stacey. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South

LODER, Rita
Passed peacefully away at the US Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence on March 14th, 2003 Rita Loder in her 82nd year. Predeceased by husband Isaac; son Isaac Jr; daughter Linda and daughter-in-law Madonna. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Richard (Ann) of Halifax, Peter (Jean) of St. Lawrence, Andre (Jean) of Logy Bay, Ron (Mackie) of St. Lawrence, Walter (Sarah) of St. Lawrence, Adrian (Sharon) of Marystown and Cyril (Jacquelyn) of St. Lawrence; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral Mass officiated by Father John Costello on March 17th from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, St. Lawrence with internment following at Mount Cecilia Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."
