Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on June 11, 2004 Frank Abbott of Port au Bras, in his 65th. year. Predeceased by parents Ernest and Annie Abbott. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Elizabeth; sons Bill and Brian of Port au Bras; daughters Margaret (Tony Clarke) of Port au Bras, Sheila (Ernest Lockyer) of Collin's Cove, Shirley (Gord Marks) of Fortune; 6 grandchildren, brothers George (Doreen), Cyril (Sheila), Joe (Beatrice), Ernest (Lillian), Calvin (Juanita), Jim (Daisy) and Gary; sisters Alma (John Trowbridge), Florence (Bob Trowbridge), Gertrude Cross, Irene (Trevor Smith), Marie (Albert Skinner), Mary (George Abbott) and Goldie (Jim Farewell), plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Charlie Harris on June 15th from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Port au Bras, with interment following at Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

BRENNAN, Albert
Passed peacefully away June 14, 2004 at the Blue Crest Home, Grand Bank, Albert Brennan of Marystown. He was 82 years old. Left to mourn his loving wife Margaret, sons Tom (wife Debbie) of Halifax, Nicholas of St. John's, Joseph (wife Sandra) of Gambo, daughter Judy (Derrick) of Marystown. Also leaving to mourn are sister Mary Pike of Marystown, sisters-in-law Theresa Young of Stephenville, Annie Brennan of Marystown, brother Ignatious Brennan (wife Mamie) of Marystown, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral Mass at Sacred heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown Thursday, June 17 with interment at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Leo Brennan, Terry Brennan, Joe Keating, Derrick Beck, Eddie Brennan and Jim Brennan. Cross bearer was Billy Chapman.

BROWN, Frances
Nov. 24, 1935 - June 2, 2004

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on June 2, 2004 Frances Brown of Burin Bay Arm in her 68th year. Predeceased by sisters Alice, Hester and Gladys and brother Jimmy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband Clyde; sons Randy (Diane) of Jean de Baie and Gary (Debbie) of Fort Nelson, BC; daughters Jean (Bill) of Fort Nelson, BC and Elaine (Jeff) of St. Lazare, Quebec; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Winnie, Greta and Flora, plus a large circle of other family and friends. Rev. Susan White officiated funeral service from Zion United Church, Collin's Cove on June 5th with interment following at UC Cemetery, Collin's Cove. Pallbearers were Jimmy Mayo, Clyde Rose, Gordon Smith, Art Hiscock, Calvin Paul and Carl Paul. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

BUFFETT, Roy
Passed peacefully away at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Care Centre, Harbour Breton on Thursday, June 3, 2004, with his family at his side, Mr. Roy Buffett, age 56 years of Harbour Breton, formerly of Grole. Leaving to mourn his loving family: wife, Ada; two sons, Eric (wife Tracey) and Stephen of Harbour Breton; his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Buffett; and mother-in-law, Mrs. Effie Wells both of Harbour Breton: one brother, Lewis (wife, Coleen) of Kilbride; and two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Gordon Vallis) and Mrs. Maude Skinner all of Harbour Breton; plus a number of other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by his brother, Samuel; father-in-law, John Wells; brothers-in-law, Eric Wells and Samuel Skinner. Funeral service was held on Sunday, June 6 at 2 p.m. from St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Harbour Breton with Bishop Edward Marsh and Rev. Neal Buffett officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Breton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Spencer's Funeral Home.

COLE, Isaiah
Passed peacefully away at Central West Health Care Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor on May 28, 2004, Isaiah Cole, formerly of Elliston, Bonavista Bay in his 89th year. Predeceased by wife Gertrude, brother Horatio and sisters Emmeline and Dora. Leaving to mourn brother Rev. Ray Cole (wife Shirley) of Grand Falls-Windsor, special niece Georgie, brother-in-law George Baker and wife Hazel of Epworth, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jean Lane at Epworth United Church in Epworth on May 31, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at United Church Cemetery in Epworth, NL In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Epworth United Church. Pallbearers were Leroy Baker, Lloyd Smith, Paul Hollett, William Paul, Walton Manning and Chesley Kirby. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South.

Passed away suddenly at Scarborough Centenary Hospital on Friday, June 11, 2004, Charles Melvin Cornish, formerly of Grand Bank. He was 63 years old. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Dinah Cornish, daughter Kathleen Lynn, brothers Tom and Edwin. Left to mourn are daughters Dianne (Terry) of Cambridge, Ont., Glenda (George) of Calgary, AB., Ann Marie of Calgary, AB., Rochelle (Mark) Cambridge, Ont., sons George (Kimberley), Niagara On The Lake, Dennis of Calgary, Charles at Carbonear. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Mary Hillier (Bert) Cormack, Harriet Follett, Grand Bank, brother Jim Cornish (Donna) at Barrie Ont., 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away June 2, 2004 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Harold Crant of Lawn. He was 76 years old. Predeceased by wife Maude and sister Elizabeth Follett. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Monday, June 14, 2004, Claude J. Dunne of Fortune. He was 87 years old. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Mary Dunne, daughters Marjorie and Shelia, son Calvin, sisters Nellie Harvey, Susie Driscoll, Jane Froster, Charlotte Crews, Theresa Crews, Georgina Stacey and Josephine Baker, brothers John and Benjamin. Left to mourn are wife Susanna, children Minnie Monster (Charl) of Fortune, Jane Crews (Carl) at Fortune, Jim (Audrey) at Fortune, Claude Jr. (Linda) at Conception Bay South, Kay Mavin (Phil) at Fortune and David (Darlene) at Conception Bay South, Kay Mavin (Phil) at Fortune and David (Darlene) at Airdrie, Alberta, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Elizabeth Stacey at Fortune and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted by Majors Fred and Winnie Randell on Thurs., June 17 at 2 p.m. at Salvation Army, Fortune with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Fortune. Passed away peacefully June 6, 2004 at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, John Joe Farrell of Little Bay. He was 74 years old. Predeceased by brothers Randolph and Ernest, sister Alice, mother Martha and father William. Passed peacefully away May 24, 2004 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, George Hillier of Fortune. He was 78 years old. "Too Well Loved To Ever Be Forgotten"

A 17-year-old Baine Harbour youth died in a traffic accident in Rushoon Friday. Corey Kenway was a passenger in a car which was involved in a single vehicle accident around 8:30 p.m. The driver of the car, a 20-year-old former resident of Terrenceville now living in St. John's, and another 16-year-old youth from Rushoon were taken to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. The Burin Peninsula District RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services East investigated the accident.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Fortune. Pallbearers were Harvey Tulk, Wayne Tulk, Paul Tulk, Terry Tulk, Glen Tulk and Tony Tulk.
