Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre January 3, 2005, Randell Barnes of Grand le Pierre. He was 77 years old. Left to mourn are sister Alice of Brooks, Alberta; sister-in-law Mary Barnes of Torbay, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Charlie Harris conducted funeral service at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Grand le Pierre, Wednesday, January 5 at 2 p.m. with interment at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes. Pallbearers were Glen Bolt, Charlie Bolt, Edward Bold, Willoughby Bolt, Paul Hickey and Dennis Kearley.

BECK, Eliza A.
Passed peacefully away Saturday, December 25, 2004 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Eliza A. Beck of St. Lawrence. She was 90 years old. Predeceased by husband Chesley, son Chesley Jr., grandchildren Eric and Darlene. Left to mourn are sons George (wife Kay) of St. Lawrence, Eric (wife Diane) of Mount Pearl, Earl (wife Stella) of Brampton, Ontario, Owen of Mississauga, Ont., Samuel (wife Christine) of Brampton, Ont., and Arnold (wife Christine) of Labrador City; daughters Adelaide (husband Gordon Hatcher) of Pasadena and Viola (husband Peter Heisler) of Moncton, New Brunswick. Also leaving to mourn 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Berdina Ford conducted funeral services at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, St. Lawrence Wednesday, December 29 with interment at St. Matthew's Anglican Cemetery. BRADY, John A. Sr.
Passed peacefully away December 23, 2004 at the Grand Bank Health Care Centre, John A. Brady Sr. of Fortune. He was 84 years old. Predeceased by wife Rosella Brady and various brothers and sisters. Left to mourn are sons Ron, Bill (wife Mary), Ben of Fortune and Aubrey (wife Judy) of Nova Scotia; daughter Alfreda (husband Maurice Pittman), Ann (husband Sam Rideout), Elsie (husband Eric Stacey). Mary (husband Ambrose Billard) of Fortune and Janet (husband Todd Monster) of Manitoba.Also leaving to mourn are 29 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captain Stokes conducted funeral service at Salvation Army Citadel, Fortune, Sunday, December 26 with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Fortune. BRAKE, Ambrose
Passed peacefully away at Blue Crest Home Sunday, January 9, 2005, Ambrose Brake of Spanish Room. He was 92 years old. Predeceased by wife Elizabeth, brothers Stephen, Daniel, Leo, Philip and Thomas; sisters Jane, Hannah and Monica. Left to mourn are sons Bernard, Gordon (wife Lucille) and Vince (wife Mary Jo) all of Spanish Room; daughters Louisa (husband Leo Slaney) and Monica (husband Hughie Slaney) both of Spanish Room. Also leaving to mourn 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown, Wednesday, January 12 with interment at St. John de Bosca Cemetery, Spanish Room. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Rodney Brake, Paul Brake, Kenny Brake, Vincent Brake, Hughie Slaney Jr. and Andre Slaney. Crossbearer was Paul Brake Jr.

Passed peacefully away December 17, 2004 at Queen Elizabeth 11 Hospital in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Mrs. Carmel Brake of Marystown. She was 90 years old. Predeceased by husband John Tom Brake. Left to mourn are sons James (wife Moira) of Orilla, Ontario, Alonzo (wife Margaret) of Holland Landing, Ont., Leo (Vivian) of Swan Hills, Alberta and Gordon (wife Betty) of Camrose, AB; daughters Ann Stertz (husband Norm) of Winnipeg, Eileen Beadle (husband Peter) of Vancouver and Shirley Brenton (husband Eric) of Marystown. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Hannah Farrell of Marystown and Kate Kilfoy of Little Bay; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home Grand Bank on Sunday, December 19, 2004, Alfred Cluett of Garnish, age 86 years. Predeceased by wife Caroline, parents Joseph and Sarah Cluett, sisters Annie, Ida and Hannah, brothers Levi, John and Thomas. Leaving to mourn sister-in-law Elsie Cluett, nieces Annie E. Marsh, Dorothy Moulton, nephews, Gordon Cluett, Joseph Grandy, Bert Cluett, Walter Cluett, special friends Marilyn, Frank and Joanne Miles, also a number of other relatives and firends. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Robert Peddle from Saint Giles Anglican Church, Garnish on Tuesday, December 21st 2 p.m. with interment in Saint Giles Anglican Cemetery. Organist was Betty Cluett. Pallbearers were Joseph Grandy, Bert Cluett, Walter Cluett, Cedric Marsh, Frank Miles and David Kendell. Funeral arrangement entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home. Passed peacefully away Monday, December 27, 2004 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Walter Coady of Mooring Cove. He was 80 years old. Predeceased by daughter Diane, four brothers and two sisters. Passed peacefully away January 4, 2005 at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Mabel Ducey of Marystown. She was 50 years old. Predeceased by brother Albert, parents Manuel and Claudiabell Follett. Passed peacefully away at the US Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence, on December 17, 2004, Winifred Evans, of Port au Bras, in her 86th year. Predeceased by husband Simeon, son Jerry, grandchildren Wendy, Adam and Andi-Marie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Merrill (Madge), Howard (Mercedes), Randell (Cathy), Reg (Norma), Fred (Lynn), all of Burin; daughters Hannah (Wilson Taylor) of St. John's, Laura (Jim Hodder) of Burin, Rosie (William Moulton) of Burin, Jessie (Andy Power) of Burin; daughter-in-law Donna Evans of St. John's; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers Levi Pardy (Sophie) of St. John's, Merrill (Margaret) of Harbour Mille, Jim (Ethel) of Harbour Mille, Tom of Alberta, plus a large circle of other family and friends. HERRIDGE, Sophie
Passed peacefully away December 20, 2004 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Sophie Herridge of Fortune. She was 78 years old. Left to mourn are husband Henry Herridge; daughters Fay Herridge of Fortune and Marie Strickland (Eric) of Brooks, Alberta; grandchildren Chris (Valerie) of Clarenville, Nick (Kim) of Grand Bank, Bradley (Heather) of Brooks and Jocelyn (Chris) of Brooks, AB; brothers Sprague (Betty) of Ontario, Eddie (Edith) of Ont., Berkley (Jean) AB., Roy (Mary Aldo), of Bay Roberts and Leslie (Carol) of Carbonear; nine great-grandchildren plus a large number of other relatives and friends. Reverend Chris Andrews conducted funeral service at the Fortune United Church Wednesday, December 22. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home, Fortune. Pallbearers were Hedley Hillier, Cyril Bonnell, Dave Lake, Henry Trimm, William Taylor and Eli Dominie.

HILL, Kerry Reginald
(1955 - 2004)

Funeral services for the late Const. Kerry Hill (Retired) were held in Sydney, NS on December 17, 2004 at Saint Anthony Daniel Church. Reverend Fr. Conrad Edwards, and Reverend Dana Feltmate officiated over an Ecumenical service. Former associates and local members of the RCMP and the Cape Breton Regional Police forces formed a 26 member Honour Guard. The service was widely attended with family and friends from Kerry's Newfoundand and Cape Breton families, and former associates from his 29 years service in various communities in Newfoundland. Kerry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years, Edwina (Coady) Hill; his daughter, Kaylen and son, Stephen, both of Marystown and St. John's, his mother, Mary Hill, brothers Fred (Sheila), Barry (Heather), sisters, Louise (Gerry Schaller), Marie (Robert Braedley) and Muriel (Wayne Latimer), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kerry will also be dearly missed by his Newfoundland family: Regina and the late Raymond Coady, Mona and Gord King, Bernie and Bob Gute, Rose and Vince Pickett, Linda and Paul Dowden, Kevin, Donald and Marie Coady, and his many friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father Charles, and brother, Lloyd. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the SPCA, Sacred Heart Academy School Library, Marystown, NL or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, NL on January 4, 2005 John J. Hodder of Creston South, NL in his 79th year. Predeceased by sister, Martha King, brothers: Frederick Hodder, Robert Hodder, Raymond Hodder. Passed peacefully away January 11, 2005 at the Health Science Centre in St. John's, Sarah Slaney of Burin. She was 61 years old. Left to mourn are her loving husband Eymard; sons Tim (wife Yvonne) and Todd (wife Brenda) both of Iqualuit; daughters Tina (husband Roger Kirby) of Calgary and Terry of Iqualuit. Passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on December 27, 2004, Jerry Thorne aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents John Matthew and Irene Thorne of Burnt Islands. Father-in-law George Denty of Boat Harbour West and special friend Max Thornhill. Leaving to mourn, with fond and loving memories, wife Mary (Denty), son Christopher, mother-in-law Edith Denty (Boat Harbour West). Brothers; Percy (Bernadine), Theodore (Susie), John (Wanda), sisters Isabella Leriche (Jim), Dorothy Parsons (Cecil), brother-in-law Bradley Denty (Laura), Norman Denty (Sharon), 13 nieces and nephews, special niece Shelley Denty, special godchild Keeran Bonia. Aunts Evelyn Keeping, Miriam Edmunds and Myrtle Thorne. Also a large number of relatives and friends along with very special friend and companion Sparky.
