Passed peacefully at the U.S. Memorial Hospital Jan 19, 2004 Leo F. Antle of Fox Cove, aged 76. Predeceased by his wife, Betty. Left to mourn are son Leo Jr. (wife Ellen) of Fox Cove; grandchildren Molly and Katie; brothers Ernest (wife Marie) of Mortier and Joseph of Fox Cove and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Fr. Charlie Kelly conducted funeral services at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Burin Thursday, Jan. 22. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fox Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Burin. Pallbearers were Ern Kavanagh, Celestine Antle, Edmund Antle, Allen Dimmer, Bob Kennedy and David Antle. Cross bearer was Jim Kavanagh.

BILLARD, George Mills
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, January 2, 2004, George Mills Billard of St. John's originally of Port aux Basques, at age 71 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 46 years Myra (nee Cook) of St. John's, daughter Lynette (Joe) Kowalchuk of Denare Beach, Saskatchewan, sons David (Josephine) Billard of St. John's and Darryl (Helen) Billard of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandchildren Rebecca Pike (Mike Stratychuk) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Stephen and Adam Billard of St. John's; great-grandchild Ashlea Stratychuk of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Brothers Ralph (Kay) Billard of St. John's, Clayton (Violet) Billard of Rose Blanche, Robert (Leona) Billard of Oakville, Ontario and Roy (Rosemary) Billard of Sidney, British Columbia. Sisters Phyllis (Edgar) Richards of Corner Brook, Joan (Ron) Lee of St. John's, Ruth (Fred) Jarmen of Cambridge, Ontario and Vivian Fleming of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sisters-in-law Sandra (David) Butler of Guelph, Ontario, Glenda (Jim) Strong of Ottawa, Ontario, Paul (Bert) Powell of Barrie, Ontario, also a large number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by grandchild Usha-Lyn Pike of Corner Brook, sister Margaret Sexsmith of Peterborough, Ontario and parents Fred and Gladys Billard of Port aux Basques. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., St. John's, on Monday, 5 January 2004 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be most appreciated.

BRENTON, Stephen Aubrey
Passed away peacefully December 20, 2003 at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, Stephen Aubrey Brenton of Marystown. He was 20 years old. Predeceased by grandfather Samuel Hollett and Uncle Randy Brenton. Left to mourn are his loving parents Aubrey and Violetta, sister Kimberly (fiancée Dion) grandparents Aloysius and Mary Brenton, grandmother Ada Hollett, many aunts, uncles and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Kelly conducted funeral services from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown Wednesday, Dec. 24 with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Brian Drake, Darren Brenton, Andrew Tobin, Jerome Mitchell, Chris Baker, Perry Rideout, Billy Hynes and Brad Ryan. Cross bearer was Dion Murphy.

Passed peacefully away January 11, 2004 at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville after a short illness, George Denty of Boat Harbour. He was 80 years old. Predeceased by wife Winnifred, son Chester and brother Gordon. Left to mourn are sons Clayton (wife Anna), Eric (wife Evelyn) Garfield (wife Catherine) all of Boat Harbour and Joseph (wife Jessie) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; daughter Phyllis (husband Alex) of Lewisporte. Also leaving to mourn sisters Martha (husband William), Rita Bailey, Glenda (husband Junior) and Alma Denty; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Oscar Elms conducted funeral service at United Church, Boat Harbour Wednesday, Jan. 14 with interment at the United Church Cemetery, Boat Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Brian Denty, Cecil Denty, Paul Denty, Terry Denty, Wesley Denty and Ken Keeping.

DIMMER, Rita
Passed peacefully away Jan. 11, 2004 at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Rita Dimmer of Mortier. She was 78 years old. Predeceased by husband Vincent. Left to mourn are son Vincent of Halifax and daughter Carol (husband Bud Richardson) of Lower Sackville, N.S. Also leaving to mourn four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a large number of sisters, brothers, other relatives and friends. Private Memorial service at a later date with cremains. Passed peacefully away Jan 6, 2004 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Edith Edwards of Lord's Cove. She was 48 years old. Predeceased by father, Cecil and sister, Emma. Passed away suddenly Jan. 15, 2004 at her home, Mary Edwards of Lord's Cove, aged 51. Predeceased by her father Maurice Drake, sister Gertrude, brothers Michael, Maurice and Peter. Sister Maureen Lawlor conducted the funeral service at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Lord's Cove Jan. 19 with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lord's Cove. EVANS, Tryphena
Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Health Centre, St. Lawrence, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 Tryphena Evans of Grand Bank. She was 86 years old. Predeceased by husband Arch Evans. Left to mourn are daughters Joyce Chan (Lawrence) of Grand Bank and Doreen Cluett (husband Harold) of Garnish; sons Arch (Eileen), Roy (Dorothy) of Grand Bank, Ron and Wayne (Rhonda) of St. John's; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother William Chapman (Joyce) of North Sydney, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend Michael Li, from St. Alban's Anglican Church, Grand Bank Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. with interment at the Saint Alban's Anglican Cemetery. Organist was Lovey Ralph. Pallbearers were grandchildren Jason Cluett, Justin Cluett, Jeffrey Evans, Jonathan Cluett, Bradley Evans and Neil Evans. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home. "Where dedicated people care."

FOWLER, Frances J.
Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home in Grand Bank Sunday, December 21, 2003, Frances J. Fowler of Grand Bank. Aged 74 years. Predeceased by husband Alphonsus Bartlett, son George, parents Charles and Sarah Bullen. Left to mourn are husband Norman; daughter Minnie Harris (Albert); sons John (Joan) of Fortune and Arthur (Hazel) of Ontario; step-sons David Fowler (Cathy) of Yarmouth, N.S. and Timothy Fowler (Lisa) of Moncton, N.B., eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Majors Frank and Reta Pittman from Salvation Army Citadel Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Music was provided by Salvation Army Band. Pallbearers were Albert Harris Jr., Fred Savoury, Norman White, Travis Ayres, Lloyd Kendall and Junior Herridge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.

FUDGE, Elizabeth
Passed peacefully away Jan 4, 2004 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS, Elizabeth Fudge of Halifax County. She was 93 years old. Predeceased by husband John, four brothers, two sisters, grandson Paul, great-granddaughter Jeneva. Left to mourn are sons George (wife Jean) of Newfoundland and Peter (wife Sheila) of De Bay's Cove; daughters Christina (husband Philip Dewolfe) of Waverley and Tina (husband Derel Debaie) of De Bay's Cove, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on December 23, 2003, Brian Grandy in his 49th year. Predeceased by father Jacob. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Velma; mother Laura; sons Jason (Rhonda) of Chicago, Jamie (Crystal) of Garnish, Troy (Dawn) of St. John's, stepsons Bradley Farrell of Garnish, Brandon Farrell of Garnish; daughter Michelle (Dean) of Garnish; grandchildren Kayleigh and Zachary; sister Doris (Eric Grandy) of Grand Bank; brothers Gordon (Mary) of Garnish, Keith (Ethel) of Garnish, Marven (Margaret) of Garnish, Wallace (Wanda) of Garnish plus a large circle of other family and friends. Captain Laverne Fudge officiated funeral service on December 26th from the Salvation Army Citadel at Garnish with interment following at SA Cemetery, Garnish. HOOPER, Norman Randell
Passed away suddenly at his home in Creston South on Jan 11, 2004, Norman Randell Hooper of Rock Harbour in his 59th year. Predeceased by sister; Sarah Bennett of Port au Bras; nieces and nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robert Peddle at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Rock Harbour on Jan 14th at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at Anglican Cemetery in Rock Harbour. Flowers gratefully accepted.
