WHITE, George Albert - of Grand Bank, age 79, Royal Navy Veteran of WWII and a life long seaman as a pioneer fishing trawler captain and master mariner. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away on Monday, January 29th, 2001 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. Predeceased by parents Samuel and Belinda White, brothers Wilson, Jack, Bert, sisters Rose White, Ethel White, Mary Newport and Winnifred Grandy. Leaving to mourn his four children: Meta (Lloyd Day), John (Gussie), Doreen (Derek Barbour), Derrick (Gloria) and their mother Edith White; his eight grandchildren, whom he adored, Bill and David Day; Michael, Dennis, Michelle and Denise White and Todd and Neil Barbour; brother Fred (Maxine) of Florida; sisters Nellie (Major Curtis Keeping) of St. John`s; Effie (Ralph Spear), California; sister-in-law Florris White, Burlington, Ontario and brother-in-law Lloyd Newport of Garnish; his kind and special friends Charl and Frances, Cyril and Greta, Harry and Olive, Frank and Elizabeth, a long with a host of other family and friends. He was laid to rest on Friday, February 2, 2001 at Grand Bank United Church Cemetery. Donations may be made the the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.
