Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home, Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, Rita M. Barnes of Fortune; aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband Wilson; sons Allan, Frank and John; parents Arthur and Frances Barnes; sisters Velma and Lillian. Left to mourn are son Cecil (Geraldine) of Fortune; three daughters-in-law Winnie Barnes, Eileen Barnes and Dorothy Rogers all of Fortune; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Carrie Day of Grand Bank and Leah Day (George) of Fortune; brother Frank (Kate) of Harbour Mille. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend James Pollard, Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune, with interment at the All Saints Anglican Cemetery. Organist was Greta Price. Pallbearers were Lawrence Hanham, Boyd Keeping, Bill Thornhill, Harry Evans, Stanley Symes and Derrick Ayers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where dedicated people care."

BONNELL, Mary M.
Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home in Grand Bank, Tuesday, Feb 3, 2004 Mary M. Bonnell of Lamaline, age 84 years. Predeceased by parents Frederick and Jeminah Cake; brothers Allan, George, Wallace, Fred, William, Edwin and Frank and sister Frances Bradbrook. Left to mourn are loving husband Austin; daughters Carol Arsenault (Jose) at St. John's and Marilyn Penney (Rick) at St. John's; step-son Clyde King (Judy) at Ottawa; precious grandchildren Charmaine, Craig, David and Susan; sister Marion Moore at St. John's; brother-in-law Aaron King and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend James Pollard from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Lamaline Thursday, Feb. 5, 2 p.m. with interment at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Lamaline. Organist was Lovey Ralph. Pallbearers were Rodney Cake, Keith Cake, Jeffrey Cake, Robert Cake, grandsons Craig Penney and David Arsenault. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where we offer you our continued support."

Passed peacefully away on February 12, 2004 Michael Aiden Brown of Petite Forte in his 71st year. Predeceased by parents, Beatrice and Michael Brown; daughter Theresa Brown, brother Charles Brown; sister Nova Finley; uncle John Lake; grandmother Mary Ann Saint; aunt Eileen Brown. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Kathleen; son Michael (Jennifer) of Petite Forte; daughters Martha (Brian Barry) of Petite Forte, Beatrice (Walter Smith) of Marystown, Anita (Terry King) of Marystown, Gloria (John Clarke) of Little Bay East; 8 grandchildren; sister Martha Kavanaugh (John) of St. John's; brother-in-law Alonzo Finley of Trepassey; Aunt Elizabeth Lake and Family of Rushoon; and all extended Brown and Saint family plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Jeff Kolonel officiated the funeral service on February 16th from Holy Rosary RC Church, Petite Forte with interment following RC Cemetery, Petite Forte. Pallbearers were Mike Brown, Randy Jones, Joseph Leonard, John Lake, Henry Lake, Dennis Brown, Crossbearer; Brian Barry. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, on January 29, 2004 Florence Cheeseman of Ship Cove, Burin in her 80th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Gary (Cathy) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; daughters Leona Cheeseman (Rick Samaroo) of Toronto, Ontario, Judy Smith (Ray Smith) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Cecilia Cheeseman (Raymond Hooper) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandchildren Jackie, Roger, Kassie, Kayla; sisters Edie and Elaine plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Kelly officiated the funeral Mass on February 2nd from St. Patrick's Parish Church, Burin with interment following at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fox Cove. Pallbearers were Gary Cheeseman, Brian Cheeseman, Woody Green, Brian Antle, Terry Marshall, Bruce Inkpen. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin "WE CARE."

Passed away suddenly at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Feb 14, 2004, Bertha Clarke of Terrenceville in her 71st year. Predeceased by daughter Violet, brother John Clarke. Leaving to mourn, husband Robert Clarke Sr.; sons: Robert (wife Marie) of Medicine Hat, AB; John Joe (wife Judy) of Marystown; Howard of Toronto; Philip (wife Paula) of Medicine Hat, AB; Morgan (wife Marilyn) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Walter (wife Charlene) of Medicine Hat, AB; Jamie (wife Colleen) of Medicine Hat, AB; daughters: Phyllis of Marystown; Theresa (husband Clarence Evans) of NB; stepdaughter Margaret Saunders of Marystown; son-in-law: Calvin Byrd of English Hr. East; sisters: Violet Ventham, Hannah Kearley, Mary Augot; 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Father Francis Puddister at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown on Feb. 16th at 2:00 p.m. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lung Association. Pallbearers were: Calvin Byrd, Dwayne Byrd, Mario Clarke, Mason Clarke, Ryan Thornhill, Clarence Poulain; Crossbearer was Adam Evans. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Monday, Feb 9, 2004 Wilfred B. Comben of Grand Bank, aged 77 years. Predeceased by parents George and Elizabeth Comben, sister Susie Thorne, brothers Bert Comben and Harry Comben Sr. Leaving to mourn are his wife Sarah of Grand Bank; sons George (Barbara), Keith (Wanda) both of Grand Bank and Norman (Ann) of Nova Scotia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, brother Byatt Comben of Grand Bank; sisters Annie Lee and Georgie Thornhill (William) of Grand Bank; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman Wednesday, Feb. 11 from Warren's Funeral Home in Grand Bank. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Grand Bank. Organist was Tom Comben. Donations in his memory may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. Pallbearers were Max Cox, Chesley Saunders, Charlie Hodder, Lester Peach, Jack Cumben and Roland Lawrence. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.
