Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Inter-Faith Home, Grand Bank on Friday, December 22, 2006, Bertha Tamsey Ayers of Lamaline, Age 94 years. Predeceased by parents Henry and Dinah Hillier, husband George, son Henry, sisters Ellen and Emma, and brother Cyrus. She leaves to mourn her six children: Eric Ayers at St. John's; Edgar Ayers at Toronto, Ont; Melvin Ayers at Calgary, Alb; Alma Downey at Milltown; Muriel Marks at Milltown and Gilbert Ayers at Fortune; and daughter-in-law Shirley Herritt at Lamaline. Also a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. James Pollard from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Lamaline on Wednesday, December 27th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Lamaline. Organist was Susie Lovell. Pallbearers were: Bradley Ayers, Gilbert Ayers (JR), Wayne Collins, Glenn Efford, John Hooper and Freeman Purchase. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where Dedicated People Care."

(August 8, 1927  - December 6, 2006)

Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Home, St. John's on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, CECIL BOWLES formerly of Ramea, age 79 years. Predeceased by: parents Edward and Harriett Bowles; brothers John and Hartley; sisters Annie, Lucy, Edna, Alma, Effie and Minnie. Leaving to mourn: brother Harry Bowles (Alice) at Bay de Verde; sister Mazie Crant (Tom) at Louisberg, Nova Scotia. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. James Pollard from Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank on Friday, December 8th at 10:30 am. Interment followed at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Organist was from Cumben. (sic) Pallbearers were: Harry Bowles, Ed Bowles, Gilbert Thornhill, Dave Hatcher, Chris Cox and Cameron Carroll.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral home, Grand Bank. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre December 7, 2006, Anika Nicole Eva Clarke of St. Bernard's in her 7th year. Predeceased by grandmother Eva Clarke in 1999 and great-grandfather Edward Baker. Leaving to mourn her loving parents Jason and Nicole; grandparents Carter and Florence Baker and Patrick Clarke; uncles Earl Clarke, Patrick and Elaine Clarke; great-grandparents Jerome and Maude Myles and Hettie Baker, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital surrounded by her devoted family on December 27, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Mae Wells, brother Fred Wells, step brothers Jack and Greg Bouzanne, first husband Clyde Smith and step brothers-in-law Alvin and Sam Wiscombe. Leaving to mourn her loving husband, Charlie, children Cindy (bob) Hillier, Randy (Dianne) Smith, Ric (Lynn) Smith, grandchildren Brent, Kirk, Vickie, Caroline, Andrew, Jennifer, Suzanne, Albert (Helen) Wiscombe, step children Allison, Laurette, Kathy, Teresita, Basil, Colin, Aril, Jordan, and Charlie. Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence on Tuesday, December 1, 2006, Mae Viola Wrixon of Epworth in her 84th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: husband John: son Bill (June) of Granville Ferry, NS; daughter Donna (Dave) of Springdale; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Major James Pardy; plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Bill Wrixon, Dave Snow, Leroy Baker, Sam Moulton, George Mayo and Sam King.Funeral service was officiated Rev. Mary Harris on Friday at 2 pm from the United Church, Epworth with interment at the United Church cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the Epworth Cemetery Fund.
