Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on August 9, 2006 Fred Brenton of Burin age 61 years. Leaving to mourn wife Denisine, son Terry of Fort Nelson, BC., daughters Sandi and husband Wally Hodder of Fort Nelson, BC and Linda and husband Steven Foote of Fort Nelson,BC; grandchildren, Kody Hodder and Tanner Foote; brothers, Hilary and wife Cecelia, Eric and wife Shirley, Harvey and wife Margaret, Bruce and wife Evelyn, Dave and wife Roberts, Brendan and Glen and wife Donna; sisters Mary and husband Leo Walsh, Judy Antle, Margaret and husband Rick Gage, Debbie and husband David McGuigan and Sue and husband Robert Antle. Plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Edward and Bride Brenton, daughter Darlene Paul, son-in-law Eddie Paul, sister Sarah Slaney and brothers Terry and Kevin Brenton. Funeral Mass was officiated from St.Patrick's RC Parish Church on Friday at 9:30 AM with interment following at RC Cemetery, Salt Pond. Pall bearers were his brothers Hilary, Eric, Harvey, David, Brendan and Glen. Cross bearer was grandson Kody Hodder. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.

BURBRIDGE, Bessie Rose
Passed peacefully away at the Chancellor Park Nursing Home August 26, 2006, Bessie Rose Burbridge of Burin Bay Arm in her 89th year. Predeceased by husband Percival. Leaving to mourn sons Freeman (Marilyn) of Epworth, Carl (Joyce) of Marystown, Curtis (Peggy) of Epworth and Edwin (Linda) of St. John's; daughter Mary (Boyce) of Mount Pearl; special nephew Curtis Hiscock; sisters Mary, Bertha and Dulcie; sister-in-law Florrie Hillier; 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Rev. Mary Harris conducted funeral service at Epworth United Church in Epworth Monday, August 28th. Interment was at United Church Cemetery in Epworth. Pallbearers were Percy Burbridge, Stephen Burbridge, Corey Anstey, Ron Tucker, Amanda Burbridge and Carla Pittman. DANCEY, Carrie Ray (nee Hollett)
Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on August 3, 2006 aged 92 years. Predeceased by her parents Thomas V. and Hannah C. Hollett, husband Jack Rodney Dancey, brothers Donald, Edward (Ted), Keith, William and Thomas and sisters Gladys, Eloise, Ellamae, (Mike) Butler and Wanda (Bill) Parrott, 5 grandchildren Heather Butler (Scott Grandy) Susan Butler (Tim Hogan) Rodney Butler (Danelle Moss) Amanda Parrott (David Randell) and Andrew Parrott, 2 great grandchildren Scott McCullough and Nicholas Butler Hogan. Also leaving to mourn her sister in law Pearl Dancey, and special nephew Tom Hollett. As well as many other nieces and nephews. At Carrie's request cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, August 5th from 2 p.nm. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Monday, 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Barrett's Chapel. interment at Burin United Church Cemetery, Collins Cove on August 8, 2006. Passed suddenly away at the Health Sciences Centre August 2, 2006, Marina Day (nee Mullins) of Fortune in her 46th year. Predeceased by grandparents Lawson and Myrtle Mullins, father-in-law Harvey Day. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Victor; sons Stephen (Paula) of Toronto and Chad (Santana) of Toronto; daughter Tonya (Craig) of Halifax; sisters Sue and Tammy; brothers Bill and Terry; four grandchildren - Chelsea, Rachael, Emma and Myla; plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Donations may be made to the family. Rev. Chris Andrews conducted funeral services at Fortune United Church Sunday, Aug. 6. Interment was at Fortune United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chad Day, Stephen Day, David Day, Stephen Conrod, Craig Bennett, Wayne Moores, Todd Stacey and Ray Cuza. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes.

EDWARDS, Sylvia Theresa
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre August 12, 2006, Sylvia Theresa Edwards of Marystown in her 76th year. Predeceased by husband George, mother Effie, father Peter, sisters Deborah and Annie, brothers Peter and Gerald, grandchildren Peggy, Sylvia and Lucas. Leaving to mourn her loving sons George (Evelyn) of Marystown, Thomas (Margaret) of Fortune, Gerard (Mona) of Marystown, Peter (Patsy) of Marystown, Brendan of Alberta and Glen (Stella) of Fortune; daughters Anne Marie (Gerry) Squires) of Portugal Cove, Effie (Ken Walsh) of Marystown, Lucinda (Steve Cole) Kansas, USA and step-daughter Lillian Strang of Lawn; 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Fr. William Hann conducted funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in Marystown August 14. Pallbearers were George Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Glenn Edwards, Maurice Drake, Kenny Walsh, Kent Edwards, Josh Brushett and Gerard Edwards Jr. Crossbearers ! were Jeremy Taylor and Jordon Brushett. FLEMING, Patrick Edward
(February 7, 1920 - August 21, 2006)

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Monday, August 21, 2006, Patrick Edward Fleming of Allan's Island, Lamaline, age 86 years. Predeceased by parents Patrick and Bridget Fleming; wife Catherine, brothers Arthur, Maurice and Randell, and sisters Mary, Blanche and Laura. Leaving to mourn: 7 children, Laura Lundrigan at Chamberlains, Lillian Maddigan at Allan's Island, Maxwell (Sheila) at Cornwall, Ont., George (Linda) at Labrador City, Patrick Jr. (Diane) at Lewisporte, Barbara Holloway (Fred) at Kelligrews, and Claude (Catherine) at Lamaline; 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Coady at Lamaline, brother Leo (Mary) at Ontario; also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was conducted by Father Ted O'Connor from St. Joseph's Church, Allan's Island, Lamaline at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2006. Interment followed at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Allan's Island, Lamaline. Pall Bearers were: Kenny Maddigan, Darryl Lundrigan, Robert Fleming, Greg Holloway, Fred Holloway Jr. and Jerry Batten; cross Bearer was Andrew Holloway. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

GRANDY, Harold Percival
Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Centre on August 1, 2006, Harold Percival Grandy of Bay L'Argent in his 78th year. Predeceased by sisters Olive Grandy and Janet Grandy, parents Reginald and Emma Grandy. Leaving to mourn, wife Alma; daughter, Gaye (Barry Scott) of Little Bay East; son Reginald (Carolann) of Hay River, NWT; son Robert (Karen) of Kingston, ON; daughter, Margaret (Scott Lambert) of Burin; daughter Sheila (Joe Wells) of Bay L'Argent; son David, (Nicole) of Brooks, AB; brothers, Reginald Grandy (Betty) of St. John's; Earl Grandy (Sheila) of St. John's; sisters, Rita Comeau (Medric) of Halifax; Annie Parker of St. John's; Lila Grandy of St. John's; Sheila Banfield (Merle) of Bay L'Argent; ten grandchildren: April, Patricia, Christopher, Corey, Victoria, Dylan, Matthew, Kemberly Ann, Michael and Ryan and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Capt. Andrew Robertson at St. Hilda's Anglican Church in Bay L'Argent on August 4th at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at St. Hilda's Anglican Cemetery in Bay L'Argent. Donations to his memory may be made to St. Hilda's Anglican Church, Bay L'Argent. Pall bearers were sons Reginald, Robert and David and sons-in-law Scott Lambert, Barry Scott and Joe Wells. Passed peacefully away at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on August 3, 2006, Ernest Hodder of Creston north in his 82nd year. Leaving to mourn, nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Susan White at Creston North United Church in Creston North on August 7th at 11:00 a.m. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery in Creston North. Donations to his memory may be made to Creston North United Church Memorial Fund. Pall bearers were Gary Brushett, Jeff Brushett, Andrew Brushett,Melvin Hodder, Allan Fizzard and Boyd Brushett. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South.

KING, Thomas P.
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on August 6, 2006, Thomas P. King of Fortune in his 92nd year. Predeceased by parents William and Mary King, brothers George and Major King, sister Esther Lake and granddaughter Marina Day. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Rose; sons Tom (Effie) of St. John's, Bob (Christina) of Mount Pearl, daughters Mary (Graham) of Fortune, Anne (Eric) of St. John's, Margaret (Lloyd) of Mount Pearl, Janie (Ron) of Fortune, sisters Margaret Lake of Fortune, Beulah Morris (George) of Grand Falls, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Chris Andrews conducted funeral services at Fortune United Church on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery. LAKE, Margaret
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre August 11, 2006, Margaret Lake of Fortune in her 90th year. Predeceased by husband Lloyd, brothers George, Major and Tom and sister Esther. Leaving to mourn sons Calvin (Susan) of St. John's, Harold (Brenda) of Fortune and Bill (Donna) of Mount Pearl; daughter Elaine (Vince) of Marystown; sister Beulah Bill (Donna) of Mount Pearl; daughter Elaine (Vince) of Marystown; sister Beulah Morris of Grand Falls; six grandchildren, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Chris Andrews conducted funeral service at Fortune United Church Sunday, August 13. Interment was at Fortune United Church Cemetery. LOMOND, Veronica
Passed peacefully away at her home on August 6, 2006, Veronica Lomond of Marystown in her 86th year. Predeceased by her husband Charles,son Gilbert and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Samantha Dart. Leaving to mourn sons Charles Jr. (Helena) of Paradise, Russ (Davina) of Marystown, Brian (Tracey) Marystown; daughters Evelyn (John Clowe) of Marystown, Ann (Gary Dart) of St. John's, Mary (Ron Curtis) of Marystown; sister Anna Ducey of St. John's; eighteen grandchildren, Joelia, Kris (Karen), Janine (John), Seana (Robert), Vanessa, Felicia, Jennifer, Kristen,Rebecca, Bradley, Garry, Charles, Justin, Veronica, Bernice, Marie, Kelsey and Jason; three great-grandchildren Emma, Kole and Kassie, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ted O'Connor conducted funeral mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in Marystown on Tuesday, Aug. 8. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery. MAYO, Frederick S.
(March 4, 1936 - July 24, 2006)

Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on July 24, 2006, Frederick Mayo of Big Salmonier in his 70th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Maxine; sons Boyd and wife Kathy of Ontario, Dennis and wife Nancy of Lewin's Cove, Gordon and wife Terri of Burin; grandchildren Boyd, Kate-Lyn, Megan, Joshua and Caitlin; sister Daphne Coffin of St. John's; brothers Gordon and wife Ruby of Ontario plus a large circle of other family and friends. Passed away suddenly at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, Georgina Miller of Grand Bank, age 92 years. Predeceased by parents Levi and Elizabeth Snook; husband Abraham; sons John and Max; sons-in-law Lloyd Kelland and Manuel Cluett; grandchildren Wayne and Gerry; sister Alfreda, and brothers Arch and Albert. Leaving to mourn her long life are: daughters Mildred (Sidney Francis) at Yarmouth, NS. Bessie (Ivan Stone) at Grand Bank; Lorraine Kelland at Fortune, Alfred Cluett at Grand Bank, Florence (Denis Pritchett) at Calgary, AB. Viola (Winston Hoddinott) at Grand Bank, Georgie (Wayne Moss) at Gander, sons Sidney (Amelia) at Grand Bank, Simeon (Ann) at Grand Bank, daughters-in-law Bernice Miller at Grand Bank, and Hazel Stead at St. John's, 32 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; sisters Lorraine Hibbs at Port aux Basques, and Rita Hillier at Georges Brook; special friend Hilda Barnes at Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank; also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. Michael Li from St. Alban's Anglican Church, Grand Bank on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 2pm. Interment followed at St. Alban's Anglican Cemetery, Grand Bank. Organist was Karen Li. Pall Bearers were: Melva Kelland, Chris Miller, John Hoddinott, Wally Stone, Perry Stone and Michael Stone. Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on August 17, 2006, Thomas Plank of Port au Bras in his 75th year. Predeceased by parents Joshua and Elizabeth Plank. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sister Harriett (Hattie) Reid of Green's Harbour  predeceased by (sic) husband Elwood; brother James Plank of Port au Bras; nieces Doreen, Elaine, Sylvia, Thelma and nephew Ted along with their children plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. Berdina Ford from St. Andrews Church, Port au Bras on August 21st at 2 PM cremation has taken place. Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre August 21, 2006, Michael Slaney of St. Lawrence in his 63rd year. Predeceased by mother Mathilda and father Aloysius. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Louise; sons Aloysius (Darlene) of Springdale, Wade (Tracey) of St. Lawrence, Corey (Yolande) of Dartmouth, NS., Scott (Tammy) of St. Lawrence, Brad (Alexandria) of Labrador City, and Christopher (Jennifer) of Halifax. Also leaving to mourn brother John (TJ), nine grandchildren plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Regis conducted funeral mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman catholic church in St. Lawrence Saturday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. Interment was at Mount Cecilia Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons - Aloysius, Wade, Corey, Scott, Brad and Christopher Slaney. Crossbearer was Michael Slaney. SMITH, Elizabeth M.
Passed suddenly away at the Grand Bank Community Health Care Centre August 23, 2006, Elizabeth M. Smith of Fortune in her 62nd year. Predeceased by husband Vernon Smith, parents Chesley and Jane Hickman and nephew Scott Adams. Leaving to mourn daughter Henrietta Pope, sister Mildred (Clayton Adams), brothers Henry Hickman (Joyce) and Thomas Hickman (Margaret). Also leaving to mourn grandchildren Jennifer and Christopher Pope, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Donations may be made to the Fortune United Church Cemetery Fund. Rev. WITHERS, Genevieve
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Centre on August 9, 2006, Genevieve Withers of Marystown in her 81st year. Predeceased by husband Edward, mother Catherine, sisters Sheila, Almedia and Alice, brothers Alonzo, William, Gerald and Jim. Leaving to mourn son Anthony of Marystown; sister Elizabeth; brother Albert; grandson Stephen; granddaughters Lineta and Tanya; great grandson Curtis, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ted O'Connor conducted funeral services/mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in Marystown on Friday, August 11. interment was at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery in Marystown. Pallbearers were Joe Flemming, Al Brake, Tom Smith, Kevin Smith,Vince Antle and Ned Pittman. Crossbearer was Curtis Edwards. Donations may be made to the Edwards family.
