Passed suddenly away Saturday, August 21, 2004 at her home in Garnish, Susie L. Day. She was 83 years old. Predeceased by husband Harvey, sisters Lenzie Drover and Sadie Cluett. Also leaving to mourn (his??) sisters Joyce Mitchell of Boston, Florence Sessions of California and Shirley Banfield of Labrador; brother Ernest Cluett of Garnish and special nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, family and friends. Reverend Austin Marsh conducted funeral services at the United Church in Garnish, Tuesday, August 24, with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Garnish. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home, Marystown. Pallbearers were Charlie Harris, Roy Grandy, Harvey Cluett, Joseph Grandy, Ernest Cluett and Herbert Day.

EDWARDS, Catherine Rita
August 17, 1919 - July 30, 2004

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Friday, July 30, 2004, Catherine Rita Edwards of Little St. Lawrence in her 84th year. Predeceased by parents Robert and Mary Ellen Kearney and brothers William, Michael and Walter Kearney. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband Benjamin, sons Michael and wife Florence of Little St. Lawrence and Emanuel and wife Karen of Halifax, N.S. Daughters Mary Schuler and husband the late Frank Schuler of Vancouver, B.C., Alice Edwards and husband Dr. Kenneth Suh of Bemus Point, New York, Ellen Walsh and husband James of Marystown, Noellia Kearney and husband Bill of British Columbia, Jackie Corcoran and husband James of Lewin's Cove, Madeline Fancy and husband Kevin of Halifax, NS, Loretta Hollett and husband Wade of Lewin's Cove, Violet Sparks and husband John of Corner Brook and Cathy Edwards of Alberta; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Alice Edwards of St. Lawrence and brother Robert Kearney of St. Lawrence plus a large circle of other family and friends. Father Frank Puddister officiated funeral mass on August 2nd from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Church, St. Lawrence with interment following at Mount Cecilia Cemetery, St. Lawrence. Crossbearers and pallbearers: Alice, Jackie, Violet, Madeline, Ellen, Loretta, Cathy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

FIANDER, Paulette Joan
Passed away suddenly at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Wednesday, July 21, 2004, Paulette Joan Fiander, 39 of Jacques Fontaine (formerly of English Harbour West). She was predeceased by her mother and father, Elizabeth and John Fiander; her brother John and sister Vivian. Left to mourn are sisters Bessie (Henry Pardy) of North Harbour, Barbara Miles of North Harbour, and Elsie (Cluny Wells) of English Harbour West; brother Henry Fiander (wife Paulette) of North Harbour; sister-in-law Dora Lockyer; Alternate Care Family Mary Brushett, and children Peter, Paul and Amanda; and special friend Fergus. Reverend Fagen conducted the funeral services at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in North Harbour Sunday, July 25. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery in North Harbour. Pallbearers were Russell Pardy, Terry Wells, John Fiander, Jeffrey Fiander, Glen Cox, Eric Lockyer, Elroy Mitchell and Peter Brushett. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on August 16, 2004, Malcolm Foote of Burin in his 62nd year. Predeceased by parents James and Maryanne Foote, brother Gordon Foote, sisters Mabel and Gertie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Doris; sons Travis Foote (Robyn) of Edson AB, Kenneth Foote (Amanda) of Burin; daughters - Ruby (Leo Ryan) of Burin, Cathy (Clarence Adams) of Burin; 7 grandchildren - Cindy, Stephanie, Christopher, Sarah, Matthew, Thomas and Shianne; brother Maxwell Foote of Burin plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Susan White officiated the funeral service on August 19, 2004 from Zion United Church, Collin's Cove, with interment following at Zion United Cemetery, Collin's Cove. Pallbearers were Robert Matthews, Harold Matthews, Max Matthews, Jim Foote, Maxwell Foote, Neil Kirby. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "WE CARE."

Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home, Grand Bank, Sunday, Aug 22, 2004 Frank E. Grandy of Grand Bank. Age 82 years. Predeceased by wives Edith and Sarah, parents Frank and Nina Grandy, brother Steve, sisters Susie Newport and Mary Howse. Left to mourn are daughters Vera Butt (Harry) of Grand Bank, Annie Douglas (Edward) of St. John's and Edith Grandy of St. John's; son William (Amelia) of Whitehorse; brother Heber (Kay) of Nova Scotia; sisters Anne Clarke and Vangeline Howse of St. John's; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted Wednesday, August 25 by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman from Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bank with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank, "Where we believe in serving others as we ourselves would like to be served." Pallbearers were Leonard Butt, Riley Scott, Robert Moore, David Kendall, Steven Barnes and Kevin Kelley.

Meta Hodder
of St. Lawrence passed peacefully away August 11, 2004 at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her husband John. Left to mourn are her son John of St. John's; daughters Lucy (Bill Pearce) of Mount Pearl, and Edna (Elias Hodder) of Jacques Fontaine. Also left to mourn are her brother Gordon Hodder of Creston South, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Oscar Elms at the United Church in Creston North Friday, August 13 at 3 p.m. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Pearce, William Pearce, Scott Hodder, John Hickman, Allen Conrad and Phillip Harris. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown.

Passed peacefully away at her residence Tuesday, August 3, 2004, Gertrude L. Lovell of Lamaline in her 90th year. Predeceased by husband James in 1991 and daughter Mary in 1985. Left to mourn are sons Leslie (Susan) of Lamaline, Edgar (Daphne) of Marystown and Wayne (Caroline) of Lamaline; daughters Florence (Carl), Roberta (Pierre) of Ontario and Shirley (Charles) of Mount Pearl; son-in-law George "Bud" Osmond of Corner Brook; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend James Pollard Thursday, August 5 at 2 p.m. from Saint Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Lamaline. Organist was daughter-in-law Susie Lovell. Pallbearers were her grandsons Wade Lovell, Dexter Lovell, Tony Lovell, Robert Lovell, Mitchell Lovell, and great-grandson T.J. Lovell. Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre, Monday, July 26, 2004, Howard J. Tulk of Point au Gaul, aged 74 years. Predeceased by parents Henry and Alice Jane Tulk; sister Dora; brothers Freeman, Harvey and Russell and special friend Goretta Hepditch. , 58 of Rushoon, passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Robert and Cecilia. Left to mourn is his wife Margaret, son Keith, and daughter Lynn Marie. Also left to mourn are sisters Rose and Flo; brothers Aubrey, Harold and Kevin; and friend Clarence Whiffen, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Father Purcell conducted the funeral Mass at Christ the King Roman Catholic church in Rushoon Thursday, July 29. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Rushoon. Pallbearers were Aubrey Whiffen, Harold Whiffen, Bill Bennett, Mike Gaulton, Kevin Gaulton, and John Picco. Gary Smith was cross-bearer. Funeral arrangements were entrusted into the care of the White Dove Funeral Home in Marystown.
