BAKER, Herman G.
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, Friday, August 8, Herman G. Baker of Grand Bank. He was 59 years old. Predeceased by father Donald. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Beatrice of Grand Bank, son Michael (Sonya) of Carbonear, daughters Irma Wells (Thomas) of Brampton, Shelly Osmond (Edgar) of Grand Bank, Colleen Wong (Sai) of Brampton, Melissa Andrews (Leon) of Brampton, mother Sarah West of Blue Crest Home, Grand Bank, six grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn sister Ilane (Jack) Rogers of St. John's, Vera (Vince) Molloy of Marystown, Betty (Harvey) Clarke of Marystown, Judy (Roland) Hillier of Fortune and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Capt. Laverne Fudge, assisted by ASM Cathy Bungay from Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bank, Monday, Aug. 11, 2 p.m. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Music by Dave Noseworthy. Pallbearers were Clarence House, Gary Grandy, Ian Pittman, Kevin Burton, George Prior, Barry Brown. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where Dedicated People Care."

BREON, Thomas F.
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre July 24, Thomas F. Breon of Marystown. He was 78 years old. Predeceased by mother Bridget in 1970, father Wesley in 1990, sister Elizabeth D. in 1982 and John J. and Mary C. Farrell. Left to mourn are son Scott of Marystown, daughters Roxanne and Starr (husband Chris Smith) of Marystown. Also leaving to mourn sister Barbara White and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ray Earle conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown Monday, July 28. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Marystown. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were John Farrell, Bill Farrell, George Farrell, Berkley White, Phonse Barry and Anthony Farrell. Crossbearer was Scott Breon.

DOYLE, Agnes Mary
Passed away suddenly Saturday, July 26, at U.S. Memorial Hospital in St. Lawrence Agnes Mary Doyle of Toronto, formerly of Little St. Lawrence. Predeceased by husband Vincent, parents Mary and Ignatius Clarke, sister Katherine and brother Joseph. Left to mourn sons Gerard (wife Carol) of Stroud, Ont., Maurice of Scarborough, Ont., daughter Melanie (husband Jim Edwards) of Burin, grandchildren Jamie, Justin, Jeffrey, Jillian, Patrick, Shannon, Melissa, and Sean. Also leaving to mourn are sister Rita Haley, of Portugal Cove, brother Alex Clarke of Little St. Lawrence and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was conducted at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Toronto, Ont. Wednesday, July 30. Interment was at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, Ont. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Burin.

FITZPATRICK, Vera Ann
Passed peacefully away at U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre, St. Lawrence on Aug. 07, 2003, Vera Ann Fitzpatrick of Lord's Cove in her 81st year. Predeceased by husband Sylvester, and sons Alfred and Sylvester. Leaving to mourn sons: Jim (wife Susie) of Lord's Cove, Kevin (wife Louise) of Lord's Cove, Gabriel (friend Elizabeth) of Lord's cove, and Charles (wife Connie) of Lawn. Daughters: Sharon (husband Aloysius Edwards) of St. Lawrence, Jean Ann (friend Gilbert Ayres) of Fortune, Catherine (husband Jerome Lockyer) of Point au Gaul, Maxine (husband Kevin Parsons) of Lawn, Maureen (husband Russell Murphy) of Lord's Cove; 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Father Jerry Craig at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church in Lord's Cove, on Aug. 09, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lord's Cove. The "Laying of the Pall" was by her daughters, Sharon, Jean Ann, Catherine, Maxine and Maureen. Pallbearers were her grandsons Christopher Murphy, Alfred Fitzpatrick, Sylvester Fitzpatrick, Jimmy Fitzpatrick Jr., Kevin Fitzpatrick Jr. and Darrell Lockyer. Crossbearer was Kevin Parsons Jr. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South.

LONG, Raymond
Passed suddenly away at the U.S. Memorial Hospital, Raymond Long of Fox Cove. He was 77 years old. Predeceased by mother Cecilia, father Dennis and brother Jack and a large circle of friends and relatives.Father Charlie Goakery conducted funeral mass at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Burin, Friday, Aug. 15. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fox Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Burin. Pallbearers were Scott Antle, Sheldon Antle, Jim Kavanagh, Lester Antle, Len Cheeseman and Harvey Anderson. Crossbearer was Tom Roff.

MANNING, Clarence T.
Passed peacefully away Aug. 8, at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial, Clarenville, Clarence T. Manning of Lawn. He was 79 years old. Left to mourn are wife Norma, daughters Janet Hammond of Calgary, Shirley Porter of Clarenville. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Ellen Mary of North Carolina, Madelene of Lawn, brothers Andrew of Marystown, James of Lawn, grandchildren Daniel, Kyle, Andre, Chantel, Rochelle, and Dylan and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Brother Jerry Craig conducted funeral mass at Holy Name of Jesus, Lawn, Monday Aug. 11. Interment was at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lawn. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Jody Manning, Jim Manning, John Walker, Kyle Porter, Phonse Manning and Mike Edwards. Crossbearer was Philip Fowlow.

MAYO, Maxwell Norman
Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on August 5, 2003, Maxwell Norman Mayo of Creston South in his 75th year. Predeceased by parents Leonard and Catherine Mayo, brother Alfred, sister Mabel, and grandson Dwayne Rogers. Leaving to mourn wife Joan; sons Maxwell Jr. (wife June) of Creston South, Randy (wife Dorothy) of Creston South, Terry (wife Darlene) of Creston South; daughters Linda (husband Dennis Rogers) of Creston South, Betty (husband Berkley Loveless) of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay, Ruby (husband Tony Hoskins) of Creston South, Kim (husband Dave Synard) of Creston South. Also leaving to mourn brother Ron (wife Lillian Mayo) of Creston South, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Captain Laverne Fudge and Lts. Randy and Diane Kirby at Salvation Army Citadel in Creston South on August 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Creston South. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salvation Army Cemetery Fund. Pallbearers were Maxwell Mayo Jr., Randy Mayo, Terry Mayo, Tony Hoskins, Greg Rogers and Keith Mayo. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Geoff Lomond of Peninsula Funeral Home Ltd., Creston South.

PIERCE, William
Passed peacefully away at Blue Crest Interfaith Home Sat., Aug. 9, William Pierce (known as Sweetie) of Fortune. He was 93 years old. Predeceased by wife Minnie, sons Clyde and Fred, daughter Karen Drake. Left to mourn are daughters Marion (husband George Penwell) of Grand Bank, Rita Froude of Stephenville. Also leaving to mourn daughter-in-law Eileen Pierce of Fortune, Evelyn Cake of Corner Brook, and son-in-law Ross Drake of Grand Bank, 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Fred Randell conducted funeral service at Salvation Army Citadel in Fortune on Tuesday, August 12. Interment was at Salvation Army Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Fortune. Pallbearers were Kemp Pierce, Charlie Pierce, Fred Snook, Jean Marc Briand, Ross Drake and Albert Snook.

PIKE, Emma Blanche (nee Blagdon)
Passed away August 3, 2003 peacefully, Emma Blanche Pike (nee Blagdon) at St. Lawrence Memorial Hospital, St. Lawrence. She was one hundred years old. Mrs. Pike was a member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church ACW in St. Lawrence. Predeceased by husband Charles; children Violet, Jack, Stella, Lucy, and Betty. Left to mourn are sons Levi (wife Mildred) of St. Lawrence, NL and Charles of Prince Rupert, B.C.; daughters Freda of Rowley, Mass., USA, Margaret (husband Clarence Pike) of St. Lawrence, NL, Marion (husband Thomas Whyte) of Gorrie, ON, Sandra of Portsmouth, N.H., USA, Vera (husband) Murray Spotton) of Oakville, ON and Linda of St. Lawrence, NL. Also leaving to mourn sisters Bertha Adams of Halifax, NS and Margaret Hause of Sydney, NS; 39 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Ford conducted funeral services at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, St. Lawrence on Tuesday, August 5, 2003. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Jonathan Pike, Josh Hickey, Jared Hickey, Jordan Keto, Tyler Pike and Roger Pike.

SAMPSON, Lilian M.
Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor Monday, Aug 18, 2003, Lilian M. Sampson of Grand Bank, aged 87 years. She leaves to mourn nieces Florence Wiseman (husband Kitchener) of Hare Bay and Frances Deeton at Barrie, Ontario; nephew Everett Sampson (wife Frances) at Barrie and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place Thursday, Aug 21, 2 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel in Grand Bank. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Officiating clergy were Majors Frank and Rita Pittman. Pallbearers were Raymond Brown, Eli Pardy, Tom Anstey, Joe Warren, Ralph Douglas and Norman Fowler. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where Dedicated People Care."

SLANEY, Nellie
Passed peacefully away Tuesday, July 29, at U.S. Memorial Hospital Nellie Slaney of St. Lawrence. She was 70 years old. Predeceased by husband Dan 1989, mother and father. Left to mourn are sons Alex (wife Lucy), Vic (wife Theresa), Bill (wife Ann Marie), Donny (wife Denise), Ray (wife Brenda) of St. Lawrence, Todd (wife Evelyn) of Mount Pearl, Terry (wife Tracey) of Prince George, B.C., daughters Josephine (husband Perry Benteau) of St. Lawrence. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Loretta, Kathleen, Cela, brothers Martin, Patrick, William, 23 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Goakery conducted funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at St. Lawrence, Friday, August 1. Interment was at Mount Cecilia Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown. Pallbearers were Alex Slaney, Gord Dunphy, Rich Slaney, Rich Pittman, Kenny Hodder and Len Pittman. Crossbearer was Perry Benteau Jr.

TULK, Audrey
Passed peacefully away August 21, 2003 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Audrey Tulk of Aspen Cove, age 67. Predeceased by parents, Stanley and Kathleen Steele. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband Kenneth, son Geoff (Cynthia) of Aspen Cove, daughter Marguerite Leyte (David) of Fogo Island, brother Harry Steele (Catherine) of Halifax/Gander, grandchildren Char-Lee and Tyson Tulk and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held August 23 at the United Church, Aspen Cove with Rev. Parsons officiating, assisted by Rev. Chaulk. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Aspen Cove. In memory, donations may be made to the Aspen Cove United Church or to the Central Northeast Health Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour-Pound Cove.
