Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre Sunday, April 22, 2007, Helen Barnes of Grand Le Pierre in her 54th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband Garland, son Rodney (Dianne) of Brooks, Alberta and daughter Rosalind (Derrick) Hackett of Medicine Hat, Alberta; parents Henry and Florence of Port aux Basques and Emily and Gary of Mississauga, Ontario; sisters Ada (John), Martha (Mark), Lucy (Aubrey), Maxine (William) and Judy (Russell); brothers Charlie (Lorraine), William, Eric (Ruth) and David; three grandchildren Mariska, Mackenzie and Logan, plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on April 13, 2007, Emma R. Caines of Garnish in her 94th year. Predeceased by husbands Clayton Harris and James Caines. Leaving to mourn her sons: Clayton Harris (Elizabeth) of Garnish, Charlie Harris (Christine) of Portugal Cove, grandson Tony Harris (Molly) of St. John's, daughter Joanne (Doug Abbot) of St. John's, also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Chris Andrews of Garnish United Church on April 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at United Church Cemetery in Garnish.Pallbearers were: Joseph Grandy, Alvin Day, Roy Grandy, Douglas Abbott, James Drover and Ernest Cluett. KENNEDY, Private Kevin Vincent
Died tragically Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Afghanistan while serving with the 2nd BN Royal Canadian Regiment, Hotel Company Battle Group, Private Kevin Vincent Kennedy formerly of St. Lawrence. Predeceased by grandparents, John and Rita Kennedy, grandmother Mary Gibbons and aunt Augusta Gibbons. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories parents Myles Kennedy and Catherine Kennedy, brother Michael Kennedy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, grandfather Lawrence Gibbons, aunts, uncles and cousins plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed away suddenly at the Grand Bank Health Care Centre on Friday, April 27, 2007, Leonard Miller of Fortune, age 59 years. Predeceased by parents Dorothy and Simeon Miller, mother and father-in-law Eleanor and Freeman Cox, brother George Miller. Leaving to mourn wife Annie, sons Kevin (Michelle), Kerry (Joanne) of Fortune, and Keith (Michelle) at Paradise; five grandchildren: Brandon, Samantha, Stacey, Carly, Malorie; four brothers: Eric (Alice) Grand Bank, Herman (Gladys), Garnett (Annibelle), Simeon (Melita), all of Fortune; six sisters: Margaret (Ernest Price), Vera (Bill Matthews) all of Mt. Pearl, Cora (John Martin), Marjorie (Anselm Cox) all of Fortune, Rose Miller, Montreal, Clara Miller, Paradise, sister-in-law Alma Miller, Fortune. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husbands David Power (1996) and Lawrence O'Quinn (2001), and brother Clayton. Predeceased by brothers Stanley and Jack Saunders, sisters Hannah Jane Keeping, Emily Smith and Florence Smith and granddaughter Roxanne Pardy. PATTEN, Shirley
(October 26, 1942 - April 14, 2007)

Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, St. John's, on Saturday, April 14, 2007, Shirley Patten of Grand Bank, age 64 years. Predeceased by parents Frank and Agnus Thornhill; brothers Eli, Gordon and William; and sister Ruby. Leaving to mourn: husband Eli at Grand Bank; son Mike at Conception Bay South; daughter Angi at St. John's; grandsons Jacob and Craig; sisters Bertha Andrews (Gord) at St. John's; Margaret Hamilton (Jim) at St. John's; Sue Blagdon at Grand Bank; brothers Harold Thornhill (Irene) at Fortune; Ewart Thornhill (Edna) at Ottawa. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. Lewis Crewe assisted by Rev. Raymond Case from the Grand Bank United Church at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 17th. REID, Harriett (Hattie) Mary
August 23, 1926 - April 24, 2007

Passed peacefully away at her home in Green's Harbour on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in the presence of her loving family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Hattie Reid, age 80 years. Predeceased by husband Elwood (1967); parents: Joshua and Elizabeth Plank, brother Tom Plank, Port Au Bras, father in law and mother in law George and Violet Reid, brothers-in-law: Reg Reid, Dave Harnum, Jim Reid and Lew Reid. leaving to mourn five children: Doreen (George Piercey), Elaine (Lee Piercey), Ted (Evelyn), Sylvia (Wayne Edison), and Thelma. Seven grandchildren: Michael (Tina Walsh), Matthew (Deirdre Wilcocks), Melissa, Mila, Ted, Adam and Jennifer. One precious great-granddaughter Keeley, one brother Jim Plank, brother in law Harvey (Sadie) Reid. Also lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law: Lillian Reid, Nita Harnum, Margaret Reid, Benita Reid and Aunt Maisie Woodman. Friends Caleb and Rub Howell and family, Rick Mercer and Baxter Crocker and family and a large number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A visitation for family and friends was held at Warren's Funeral Home in Dildo on Thursday April 26, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Friday April 27, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. The Memorial Service was held at Faith United Church in Green's Harbour on April 28th, 2 pm. Predeceased by parents Robert and Martha Rogers and brother Graham. Leaving to mourn: wife Eileen: daughters Donna (Bill), Debbie, Dee-Ann (Morley): son David: 5 grandchildren Andrew, Jaclyn, Shae-Lynn, Jillian and Robyn; brothers Clayton (Carrie), Jim, sisters: Jessie, Frances (Raymond), special niece Judy, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman from the Salvation Army Citadel at 2 p.m. on Sunday April 8th. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Predeceased by husband Hector; leaving to mourn, 2 daughters Viola (Len) at Grand Bank; Hazel (Max) at Kingston, Ontario; 3 grandchildren Dianne, Dan and Matthew; 4 great-grandchildren Rebecca, Alex, Naomi and Kristopher; 1 sister Meta (Rick) at Toronto, Ontario. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank tonight, Thursday from 7 pm - 9 pm, and on Friday and Saturday from 10 am 0 12 noon; 2 pm - 5 pm; 7 pm-9 pm. Funeral service was conducted by Rev.
