Passed peacefully away Apr. 19 at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank, Rita M. Brake of Little Bay. She was 84 years old. Predeceased by husbands Leo and Philip, and son Edward. Left to mourn are daughters Mary Jo (husband Eric Brake) of Creston North, Elizabeth (husband Cyril O'Neil) of Clarenville, Lydia (husband James Freake) of Fogo Island, Carmelita (husband Adrian Kelly) of Beau Bois and Madge (husband Ed Lewis) of Little Bay. Also leaving to mourn sisters Carmelita Pidgeon and Bridget Hanrahan, 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Charlie Goakery conducted funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown Tuesday, Apr. 22. Internment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Little Bay. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Home Marystown. Pallbearers were Cyril O'Neil, Eric Brake, Jim Freake, Ed Lewis, Adrian Kelly and Jonathan Lewis. Cross bearer was Eric Brake Jr.

BUNGAY, Archibald H.
Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home Thursday, Apr. 10, Archibald H. Bungay of Grand Bank. He was 85 years old. Predeceased by parents James and Flora Bungay and brother Maxwell. Left to mourn are wife Frances; daughters Marina Loveless (Ambrose), Shirley Rideout (Sidney), of Seal Cove and Georgina Stone (Merrick) of Grand Bank; sons Lester (Viola) of Seal Cove, Harold (Marion) of St. John's, Jim (Jane), Doug (Kathy), David (Brenda), Rex (Meta) all of Grand Bank, Hughie (Gail) of Bradford, Ontario and Ron of Brampton, Ontario; 36 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Majors Derrick and Judy Barrow conducted funeral service assisted by son Major Harold Bungay, grandsons Capt. Scott Rideout, Capt. Paul Rideout and Major Wayne Loveless, granddaughters Capt. Darlene Colbourne and Darlene Wells, daughter-in-law Kathy Bungay and nephew Major Ross Bungay. Vocals by grandchildren and Salvation Army Men Fellowship. Service was held at the Salvation Army Citadel Sunday, Apr. 13 at 2 p.m. Internment was at Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Pallbearers were sons Lester, James, Harold, Douglas, David, Rex, Hughie and Ronald. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. "Where dedicated people care."

CHEEKE, Maurice Andrew
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Wednesday, Apr. 9, Maurice Andrew Cheeke. He was 55 years old. Predeceased by younger sister Marie Cheeke, older brother John Power and mother-in-law Susan Vanexe. Left to mourn are his loving wife Linda, daughter Deanna (husband Jason Daniels) of St. John's, parents Vince and Marie Cheeke and father-in-law Andre Vanexe. Also leaving to mourn sisters Mercedes Evans, Margaret Brenton, Evelyn Brenton and Bridgette Roland; brothers Edward, Vincent, Bernard, Walter and Remegius Cheeke. Funeral mass took place at Sacred Heart Church, Marystown Saturday, Apr. 12.

Passed peacefully away Apr. 17 at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank, Prudence Cluett of Garnish. She was 96 years old. Predeceased by husband Joseph, son Gordon, brothers Norman and Enos Grandy. Left to mourn sister Mary Day of Garnish, and brother Lewis Grandy of Halifax, N.S. and a large circle of relatives and friends. Mr. Austin Marsh conducted funeral service at United Church, Garnish, Sunday, Apr 20. Internment was at Garnish United Cemetery. Passes peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Apr. 4, Enos Arthur Darby of Burin. He was 47 years old. Left to mourn are his loving wife Betty, daughter Charity, mother Effie and father Morgan. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Wednesday, Apr. 2, in the presence of his loving family, Isaac L. Drake of Marystown in his 56th year. Predeceased by mother and father Thomas and Josephine Drake, brother Michael and sister Martha. Left to mourn are his loving wife Theresa; sons Brian (wife Theresa) of Little Bay, Roland (wife Shelly) of Souris, PEI and Isaac Jr. (Kim Dober) of Spanish Room; daughter Roberta (husband Allan Gregory) of Souris, PEI. Also leaving to mourn sister Mary House (Leo) of Marystown, brothers John and Ogus of Marystown; grandchildren William, Karen, Misty Dawn, Chantelle, Tiffany and Charlene plus a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at her home in Burin Bay Arm April 8, Rosanna Foote. She was 94 years old. Predeceased by husband Samuel in 1982, sons Glenwood in 1981 and Leslie Isaacs in 1997. Left to mourn are sons Ray (wife Nora) of Collin's Cove, Bram (wife Ruth) of Windsor, Garland (wife Ann) of Toronto, Malrey (wife Elizabeth) of St. John's and Alvin (wife Yvonne) of Burin; daughter Donna (husband Bruce Smith) of Hansport, N.S. Also leaving to mourn daughters-in-law Rennie Isaacs, Etta Foote and Blanche Peach; sisters Frances Dicks and Dulcie Ash; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home in Grand Bank Thursday, April 24, Hazel S. Forsey of Fortune. She was 81 years old. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Christina Monster, son William, daughter Irene, sisters Gladys and Ethel, brothers Norman and Earnest. Left to mourn are husband William; daughters Eleanor Grandy of St. John's and Lucy King (Norman) of Fortune; sons Fred (Joan) of Fortune, Walter of St. John's, John (Maxine) of Grand Bank and Glenn (Norma) of Happy Valley-Goose Bay; daughter-in-law Maisie of Fortune; sons-in-law Michael Delemaire of St. Pierre and Robert Grandy of Grand Bank; 13 grandchildren, three great-grand-children and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away Thursday, April 3, at the Blue Crest Interfaith Home in Grand Bank, Mrs. Rose Rideout of Grand Bank. She was 78 years old. Predeceased by brother Max and sister Greta. Left to mourn are husband Pierce at Hoyles Escasoni Complex, St. John's; sons: Roland (wife Joan), Wayne (wife Margo) at Grand Bank and Geoff (wife Judy) of Riverview, New Brunswick; daughter Heidi Pittman (husband Rick) of St. John's and Shanna Dee Stafford (husband Neil) of Conception Bay South. Also leaving to mourn brother Ben Perry (wife Judy) of Badger's Quay, sister Carrie Templeman (husband Gordon) at Paradise, six grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
