Barbara Ann Carpenter (nee Meadus)
Passed on: July 16th, 2015

Passed away in Grand Prairie, Alberta on July 16, 2015 Barbara Ann Carpenter (nee Meadus) of Grand Prairie, Alberta, formerly of Clarenville, aged 59 years. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Lucy Meadus. Left with fond and loving memories her husband Ben of 37 years; her children Patrick Carpenter (Kayla) and Sarah Locke (Trevor); grandchildren Madison and Nicholas Locke; sister Linda Wiseman (Morley); brothers Bill (Virginia), Warrick (Edith), and a large number of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitations to take place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 2 PM - 4 PM & 7 PM - 9 PM. A burial to take place at a later date.

Harold Whalen

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on August 31, 2015, Harold Whalen, age 65, a resident from Miraquinn Hilltop Manor, Hickman's Harbour. formerly from Snook's Harbour. Predeceased by his parents, Florence Bailey and Solomon Whalen; half brother, Maxwell Bailey, nephews, Ricky and Robert Whalen and niece, Mary Whalen. Leaving to mourn, daughters, Tina Whalen and Amanda Hunt, step son Rodney Ivany, grandchildren, Chase, Holly, Wyatt, Christopher, Jyade and Adam; half sister, Olive Baker (Wallace- deceased), Ruby George (Gerald); brother, Raymond (Cassie), Edgar, Garland (Gail); nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, Barbara Snow of Swift Current, aged 56 years. Predeceased by her husband Wilbert and father Freeman Beck. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters Kelly Snow and Rhonda Snow, both of Clarenville; grandchildren Rachael and Joshua; mother Elizabeth Goodridge (Wilbert), Marystown; brothers Mike Beck (Loretta), Grand Falls-Windsor, Derrick Beck (Judy), Swift Current and Rodney Beck (Kathy), Alberta; sisters Cynthia Malanchuk (Arley), Clarenville, Karen Hodder (Ben), Clarenville and Arlene Beck (Kelly), Alberta; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the United Church, Swift Current with interment at United Cemetery, Swift Current.

Gladys Madeline Peddle
Born: July 2nd, 1931
Passed on: September 1st, 2015

Passed peacefully away at DR. L.A Miller Centre on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Peddle. Fondly remembered by her children Sherry (Max), Tony (Elaine) and Trudy (Ephraim) and Grandchildren Crystal, Geoffrey, Tina and Shane. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service was held in St. John's. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carnell's Funeral Home 329 Freshwater road. St. John's. Interment of ashes will take place in Hodges Cove Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society. Irven Alex Strowbridge

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Irven Alex Strowbridge of Sunnyside announces his passing at the Health Science Center, St. John's on Thursday August 27, 2015 at the age of 70 years. Leaving with loving memories are his wife of 45 years Melvina; daughter Tammy (Darren); son Donnie; grandchildren Terri-Lynn and Steven (Kerri); sisters Rowena Green and Gladys Lockyer (Roland); plus a large circle of other family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Pastor Hayward Eastman on Sunday Aug. 30, 2015. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment to take place at a later date for close family and friends. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home - Shoal Harbour.

Harold Fifield

Passed away peacefully on Sunday August 30, 2015 at Western Memorial Hospital, Harold Fifield of Port Rexton. He was 93 years of age. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle, son Garry, brothers, Walter (Edith), Mark (Irene & Lois), Rev. Cecil (Marion), Gerald (Janet), Sisters Amy (William Cole), Mary. He leaves to mourn son Harold(Amelia), daughter in law Sharon; Sisters Mae Glen and Jessie (William Abraham), grandchildren Colin, Kirstin, Chris and Dennis, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place at Christ Anglican Church, Port Rexton on Monday August 31, 2015 from 7-9. Funeral will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at 2 pm. from the Christ Anglican Church, Port Rexton. Internment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Homes Ltd., Clarenville. Donations can be made to the Anglican Church Cemetery Fund, Port Rexton.

Freda Goldie

Freda Muriel Goldie (nee Raymond)
passed away in Langley, British Columbia in the morning of September 4, 2015. Freda is survived by her son Donald (Colleen) Goldie and granddaughters Christina Goldie (Kyle Hawkins) and Caelin Folsom (Kyle Folsom) all of Langley BC; sisters Marg Milley and Kay Martin of St. John's, Newfoundland; sister-in-law Nora Thompson of Maple Ridge BC; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews in both BC and Newfoundland. Freda was predeceased by husband William "Bill" Thompson Goldie (of Renfrewshire, Scotland) in 2002; infant grandson Christopher Goldie; brothers William, Robert, and Walter; and parents Leonard John and Tryphena (nee Etsell) Raymond.
Freda was born in Catalina, Newfoundland on December 30, 1926, the fourth of six children and the oldest daughter. She left Newfoundland in her late teens and lived in Montreal for a few years. She moved to Manitoba to join brother William, where she met her husband Bill Goldie. Bill served with the RCAF and they were posted to Trenton ON. After Bill retired, Freda and Bill moved to Mission BC where they resided until Bill's death. Freda then moved to White Rock BC and finally to Langley BC to be closer to family. She resided for 10 years at the Renaissance Retirement Home in Langley, where she was well looked after by the wonderful staff.
There will be a small gathering at the home of Don & Colleen Goldie on Tuesday September 15 in the afternoon with internment of ashes at a later date in Langley BC.

Nellie Martin
Passed on: September 10th, 2015

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's on Thursday, September 10, 2015, Nellie Martin of Little Heart's Ease, aged 85 years. Predeceased by husband Otto; daughter Gail; parents Andrew and Virtue Peddle; brothers Nelson, Wallace, Stewart and Lloyd. Left with fond and loving memories her son Rocky (Peggy); granddaughter Lana (Lorne); grandsons Todd and Mark; special great granddaughter August Gayle; Son in law Wayne Parrott; sister in laws Evelyn Dwyer and Ella Peddle and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Fewer's Funeral Home in Little Heart's Ease. Funeral service will be place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the United Church, Little Heart's Ease with interment at United Cemetery, Little Heart's Ease. In her memory, flowers are greatfully accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. Albert O'Mahoney Manor on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, Raymond Hodder of Come-By-Chance, aged 89 years. Predeceased by his loving wife, Ada, he leaves behind a lifetime of proud and loving memories with his children: Anita (Dave), Joe (Ivy), Norm (Pauline), Gord (Bana), Bob (Grace), Ray (Iris), Lloyd (Karen), Eugene, Ross (Kim), Dianne (Gerry), Morgan, Donna, and Colleen (Dennis). A grandfather to Debbie (Stephen), Shawn (Liz), Tracy (Damon), Terry (Yvette), Joanne, Cheryl (Brad), Trevor (Marybeth), Mitchell (Nina), Jarrod, Ryan (Hillary), Leanne (Steve), Mark, Jacob (Jen), Stephen, Jocelyn, Jonathan, Cassidy, Reilly and Jackson. A great-grandfather to Danielle, Deidrie, Diana, Dillon, Taylor, Megan, Wyatt, Brandon, Morgann, Reece, Ethan, Tyron, Daniel, Lucas, Jenna, Brett, Andrew and Aurelia. A special man to a large circle of family and friends. Rested at the St. Paul's Anglican Church, Come-By-Chance. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Paul's Anglican Church with interment at the Inter-denominational Cemetery, Come-By-Chance.

Ellisson Barfett

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, August 30, 2015, Ellisson Barfett of Salvage, aged 73 years. Predeceased by parents Edgar and Susie; sister Dallas; former spouse Sadie. Left with fond and loving memories his spouse Jane; daughter Roxanne (Brian), sons Stephen (Pauline) and Ian; stepdaughters Monica (Rick), Dot (Roy) and Cindy (Greg); stepson Roman (Michelle); grandchildren Thomas and Sy; step-grandchildren Matthew, Mark, Joshua, Keena, Agathy, Tyler and Destinee; step-great granddaughter Natalie; sisters Marie (Cyril), Blanche (Armine) and Daphne (Cyril); brothers Wesley (Ivy) and Clyde (Bev); aunts Blanche Mercer, Maude Stoyles and Alice Barfett; uncle Weldon Stoyles (Violet); many nieces and nephews; and a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A service was held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the SUF Hall in Eastport.

Hilda Blanche Balsom (King)
Passed on: September 17th, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of Hilda Blanche Balsom (King) of Clarenville announces her passing after a brief illness, on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the age of 76 years. Hilda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Robert G. and their children, Glynn (Chris), Vaughn, Rosanne (Shelley), Bettylou (John) and Bobbie (Marvin) and seven grandchildren, Larissa, Shauna, Krista (Jason), Joshua, Adam (Valari), Abagail, and Aaron. Hilda will also be fondly remembered by her five great grandchildren, Alixandra, Madison, Caleb, Jayden and Avery as well as her brother Cater and sister-in-law Ida and the King family. She will also be remembered by her sisters and brothers in the Rebeckah's and her vast network of family and loving friends all over the world and where her heart lives in Terra Nova. She was predeceased by her parents William and Gladys King and her infant brother Silas Roy. A Funeral Service in memory of Hilda will be held on Friday, September 25, at 2:00 p.m., at the Terra Nova United Church with Rev. Bob Mercer officiating. Following the ceremony, a celebration of her life will take place at the Eddie Eastman Hall in the town of Terra Nova with food, music and friends. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Hilda to the Children's Wish Foundation.

Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home, Clarke's Beach on Saturday, September 12, 2015, Winnifred N. Pike of Harbour Grace, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband: Thomas; grandson: Ryan; parents: Ralph and Sarah Noseworthy; brothers: James (Emma), George (Blanche) and Ernest; sisters: Effie (Richard) Noseworthy and Jessie (William) Barrett. Left to mourn, one daughter: Daphne (Llewellyn) Jones, Upper Island Cove; two sons: Robert (Karen) and Bruce (Sherry), both of Shoal Harbour; six grandchildren: Nancy (Boyd), Roger (April), Vanessa (Corey), Sheldon (Shelley), Brent (Carolann) and Kayla (Karl); nine great-grandchildren: Angela, Andrew, Kyle, Katelyn, Cohen, Logan, Gavin, Jayden and Alexis; sisters-in-law: Jessie Noseworthy, Shearstown and Hazel Yetman, Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
