Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on August 25, 2014, (Edith) Leona Duffett, age 78, from Hickman's Harbour. Predeceased by her husband, Henry: parents, Walter and Jessie Gardner; brothers, Llewelyn, Ted and Leander; sisters, Joanna, Effie, Olive and Annabelle. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her daughter, Daphne (Cyril) and son, Raymond (Dallas); grandchildren, Kim (Jeff), Lynette (Cordell), Darlene (Steve) and Cyril (Crystol); 2 step grandchildren, Jeremy (Dorothy) and Colin (Brandi); great great grandchildren, Christopher, Simone, Gabriel, Callie, Michael and Caleb; step great great grandchildren, Jordan and Jake; brother, Harold ; sister, Lillian (Giles); special niece, Naomie; special nephew, Abner; brothers-in-law, Ches and Cluney; sisters-in-law, Delphine, June and Gloria and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Robert Oldford, took place on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from the All Saints Anglican Church, Petley with interment following.

Vellone, Frank (Francesco) Anthony.
Retired Major, CD, P.Eng. Died Sat. Aug. 30, 2014 at the age of 65 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband, proud father, RMC graduate, engineer, fisherman, and generous friend. Born Dec. 20, 1948 in Serra San Bruno, Italy, he will be laid to rest in his adoptive home of Plate Cove East, NL. Survived by his wife Sandra Dooley, siblings Turina, Gina, Mike (Sylvia), Maria (Mario), and Fernando, and children Michael, Jane and John (Shelly). Internment and service to be held at St. Patrick's Church in Plate Cove East, Newfoundland. Visitation on Friday, Sept. 26th from 6:30 to 9:00 pm with prayer service at 8:00 pm at St Patrick's Church. Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick's on Saturday, Sept. 27th at 11:00 am. The family welcomes flowers or contributions in honour of Frank to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research or Ongwanada, which provides outstanding care to his son Michael.

Predeceased by son Dean, parents Bernard and Regina. Predeceased by her husband, Hedley, parents: Florence and Tomas Fowlow, brothers Robert, Norman and Levi, sisters Margaret, Norma, Violet, Amy, Shirley and Jenny.
