STANLEY, Lawrence - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thursday, August 17, 2006, Lawrence Stanley of George's Brook, aged 73 years. Predeceased by wife, Elizabeth; parents, George and Bessie; brother, Ernest Stanley; and sisters, Gertrude Ivany and Mable Ploughman. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter, Kathleen Luther at George's Brook and Judy (David Higdon) at George's Brook; son, Clifford (Beverly) at George's Brook; sister, Margaret Bailey at North West Brook; brothers,Charles (Vera) at George's Brook and Jack (Emma) at George's Brook; grandchildren, Shawn Luther, Trina Luther, Chelsi Stanley and Kersti Stanley; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home and Pentecostal Church, George's Brook. Funeral service held on Sunday, August 20, 2006, from Pentecostal Church, George's Brook, with interment at Milton-George's Brook Cemetery.

 

RYAN, Colin - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Tuesday, August 29,2006, Colin Ryan of Shoal Harbour, aged 81 years. Predeceased by parents, Simon and Ethel Ryan; and sister, Violet Adams. Left with fond and loving memories wife, Minnie, of 59 years; son, Delano Ryan (fiancee Diane); daughter, Geraldine Tilley (Bob) of Clarenville; sister, Marie Hunt of Shoal Harbour; four grandchildren, Steven, Stephanie, Sean and Devin; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2006, at the United Church, Shoal Harbour, with interment at the United Cemetery, Church Road, Shoal Harbour. In his memory donations may be made to the United Church, Shoal Harbour, or the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville.

 

SNOW, Elvet J. - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sunday, >August 27,2006, Elvet Snow of Clarenville, formerly of Corner Brook, aged 75 years. Predeceased by daugh­ter, Valerie; and wife, Olive. Left with fond and loving >memories daughter, Paula Snow of Clarenville; sister, Rowena Lidster of Whitby, ON; aunt, Vera Morgan of Clarkes Beach; caregiver, Wanda Bursey-Elliott (Chris) of Clarenville; "grandchildren" Erica and Nicholas Brown and Matthew Lethbridge; cousin, Sandra Hussey (Paul and Rebecca) of Clarkes Beach; special friends, Chad Dicks, Joshua Elliott, Kim Tucker (Lockyer), Denise Brown, Alan Harris and a circle of friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August29, 2006, with interment at the Mount Patricia Cemetery, Corner Brook. HOLLOWAY, Albert W. - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, Albert W. Holloway of Bloomfield, aged 67 years. Predeceased by brother, Wilfred (1995). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Mary, of 46 years; daughter, Daphne (Terry) at Portland; son, Tony (Paula) at Shoal Harbour; grandchildren, Nicole and Cassandra; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Salvation Army Citadel, Musgravetown, with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgravetown.

CLARKE - Passed peacefully away at Shirley's Haven Home in Catalina on Monday, August 28, 2006, Thomas Clarke of Dunfield, aged 83 years. Predeceased by wife, Marjorie; parents, William and Edith Clarke; and sister, Mable Johnson. Leaving to mourn are two sons; Bernard (Marina) and Thomas (Debbie); two daughters, Edith Bailey (Raymond) and Bernice Miller (Bruce). As well as nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Chatfield Clarke and Gertrude Weybridge (Cyril); brother, Raymond (Bride); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Dunfield, August 31, 2006. Funeral Service was held at the Mortuary Chapel, Trinity, with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Trinity, August 31, 2006. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home.

SOPER, Ted - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, Thursday, September 7, 2006, Ted Soper of North West Brook, aged 79 years. Predeceased by wife, Margaret; granddaughter, Dana; brother, Jack Soper; and sister, Gladys Thompson. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Judy (Cyril Follett), Marystown, Carolann (Robert White), St. John's, Barbara (RonGoobie), Clarenville and Kimberly (Paul Olibeira), Hamilton, ON; sons, Gary (Priscilla), Calgary, AB, Paul (Brenda), Clarenville, Ben (Sally), Southern Harbour and Jamie (Lori Ann), Fort McMurray, AB; sister, Eva Bailey, Ivany's Cove; brother, Henry Soper (Rosemund), North West Brook; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friend, Yvonne Butt; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at United Church, North West Brook. Funeral service held Saturday, September 9, 2006, from United Church, North West Brook, with interment at United Cemetery, North West Brook. PARSONS, Pearl - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's on Monday, September 4, 2006, Pearl Parsons of Swift Current, aged 80 years. Predeceased by her brother, Rhodie Smith; sister, Elsie Smith; and daughter-in-law, Edith Parsons. Left with fond and loving memories daughters, Barbara (Lon) Russell at Oshawa, Ontario, Diane (Lawrence) Burns at Corner Brook; son, Isaac Parsons at Scarborough, Ontario; sister, Betty (Eugene) Snow at Swift Current; sister-in-law, Ivy Smith at Swift Current; brother, Allister (Olive) Smith at Swift Current; three grandsons, Michael, Phillip and Troy; two great-grand­children, Connor and Ryliegh; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at the Pentecostal Church in Swift Current; the funeral was held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Pentecostal Church with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Swift Current. SIMMONDS, Evelyn J. - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Saturday, September 2, 2006, Evelyn J. Simmonds of Canning's Cove in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband, Lewis; brothers and sisters, John Russell, William Russell, Nora Howell, Nellie Anstey and Ted Russell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her son, Ed Simmonds (Sheila) at Lethbridge; grandchildren, Angela at Ottawa, Ontario, and Trevor (Trina) at Ottawa, Ontario; nieces and nephews; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home in Lethbridge. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, from Anglican Church in Canning's Cove with interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Canning's Cove. In her memory donations accepted to the Diabetes Association.

 

BAKER - Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on Thursday, August 24, 2006, Suzannah Rebecca Baker of Weybridge, Random Island, aged 83 years. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Jacob; two children, Ronald and Louise; as well as four brothers and three sisters. Leaving to mourn are eight daughters, Lily Seaton (Ross), Evelyn Trowbridge (Ben), Susan Ivany (Paul), Eileen Trowbridge (Cecil), Dallas Baker (Raymond), Marjorie Bailey (Eleazor), Maeguerite Piercey (Dave) and Roxanne Pardy (Shawn); five sons, Heldon (Carol), Leander (Florence), Herbert, Gordon and Rick; forty-four grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home in Hickman's Harbour. Funeral service officiated by Mr. Austin March and took place on Saturday, August 26 at Central United Church, Elliott's Cove, with interment at United Church Cemetery, Weybridge.

KING, Victor A. - Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Victor A. King of Port Rexton, formerly of Labrador City, aged 82 years. Predeceased by wife, Ethel and daughter, Myrtle. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son, Bert (Emma), Labrador City; sister, Carrie Hewitt, Joe Batt's Arm; brothers, Wilfred (Eliza), Campbellton and Bert Mary), Lewisporte; brother-in-law, Max Ryan, Catalina; grandson, Paul; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Chelsea and Brittany; special friend, Emma Elliott; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral service held Saturday, September 9, 2006, from Anglican Church, Port Rexton, with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton. PEARCEY, Hattie (Bragg) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a gentle and loving soul, Hattie Pearcey slipped away on Friday, September 8th, at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, aged 83 years. She will be missed terribly...for her selflessness, integrity and strength, and her love of "a bit of fun." Left with the fondest memories are her daughter, Debbie Cooper (Eric); grandsons, Grant and Bryan; son, Glenn Pearcey at Pasadena; granddaughter, Laura; grandson, Greg; sisters, Hazel Bragg and Ellen Vernali (Joe) at Frederick, Maryland. Special thanks for the sensitive care given in Hattie's final days by the staff of St. Patrick's. Interment, Monday, September 11, at the United Church Cemetery in Catalina. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society.

 

SIMMONDS, Sheila - Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Center, St. John's, on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, Sheila Simmonds of Lethbridge, aged 58 years. Predeceased by parents, Edward and Millicent Russell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Ed of 35 years; daughter, Angela Simmonds, Ottawa, ON; son, Trevor (Trina), Ottawa, ON; and a circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held Sunday, September 10, 2006, from Anglican Church, Lethbridge, with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Lethbridge. FAULKNER, William - Passed peacefully away at the Bonavista Cottage Hospital, Friday, September 8, 2006, William Faulkner, age 57 years. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Faulkner; sister, Loretta; and brother, Albert. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Elizabeth; sons, Ronald and James; daughter-in-law, Tracy; grandson, Kyle; sister, Rebecca (Art); brother, Tony (Frances); and mother-in-law, Zeta Tuik. Funeral service held Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the Salvation Army Citadel with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

 

ADEY, Frank - Passed away at the Miller Centre in St. John's, NL, September 14, 2006, Frank Adey of St. John's, formerly of Deep Bight, aged 84 years. Predeceased by his wife, Myrtle; brother, Robert; parents, Attwood and Deborah Adey; brothers-in law, George and Fred Short. Left with fond and loving memories his sister,Ivy (late Harold Vey) at St. John's; brother, Charles (Ida) at Weybridge; brother-in-law, Albert (Margaret) Short at Deep Bight. Also, left to mourn nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville, and Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Funeral took place on Sunday, September 17, 2006, at Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

 

DROVER - It is with great sadness the family of the late Stella May Drover, age 80, from Charlottetown, announce her sudden passing on September 18, 2006. Predeceased by her parents, James and Catherine (Abbott) Simmonds; brothers, Samuel and Charlie; sisters, Amelia, Edith, Pearl and Blanche. Leaving with special memories are her husband, Moses; children, Boyne (Gwen), James (Pauline), Doreen (Edward), Audrey (Selby) and Bonita (Ralph); 12 grandchil­ dren; three great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at the Emmanuel United Church, Charlottetown, from where the funeral service, officiated by Mr. Bruce Rideout, took place on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, with interment following.
