ABBOTT, Weston
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday Aug 23, 2001, Weston Abbott, oldest resident of Charlottetown, aged 95 years. Predeceased by his wife Miriam. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter Pearl Hillyard (Lawrence); son Albert (Joyce), Charlotte; sister Annie Templeman, St. John’s; brother Richard (Maud), Charlottetown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville and United Church, Charlottetown. Funeral service held Sunday, August 26, 2001 from United Church, Charlottetown with interment at Charlottetown Cemetery. In his memory donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

REID, Melinda
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on August 27, 2001, Melinda Reid of North Harbour, age 82. Leaving to mourn sons Lawrence (Ethel), Raymond (Alice) and Lester (Barbara); nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister Elsie Maud; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the Victory Pentecostal Church, North Harbour from where the funeral took place Aug 29, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

BROWN, Vincent
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on August 28, 2001, Vincent Brown of Port Rexton in his 84th year. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, June 07, 2000 and grandson Jason in 1996. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Linda (Fred); sons James (Effie) and Edmund (Audrey); three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren ; sisters Gwen Russell (Jack) and Cassie Piercy; sister-in-law Norma Manning (Clarence); brother-in-law Harold King (Marsie); plus a large number of other family and friends. Funeral service was conducted at Christ Church, Port Rexton on August 31, 2001, with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon’s Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Seniors Home, Clarke’s Beach on Thursday August 30, 2001 Cyrus Smith formerly of Swift Current, aged 95 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Lily of 70 years; daughters Jennie Parsons (Alex), St. John’s, Hilda Loder (Raymond), Fort McMurray, AB and Dorothy Snook (Allen), Deer Lake; sons Clarence (Pearl), Athabasca, AB, Lloyd (Patsy), Come-by-Chance, Alonzo (Carrie), Gibbons, AB and Lewis (Bernice), Boyle, AB; twenty five grandchildren; thirty seven great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; nephew Roy Gilbert, Labrador City; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Pentecostal Church, Swift Current. Funeral service held on Saturday, September 01, 2001 from Pentecostal Church, Swift Current. Interment at Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Swift Current. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pentecostal Cemetery Fund, Swift Current. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville.

FURLONG, Ronald
Passed peacefully away at the Golden Heights Manor on Aug 23 2001, Ronald Furlong, age 90 years of Plate Cove West. Predeceased by his wife Agnes and grandson Dean Philpot. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories thirteen children, eight daughters Marie Philpot (Fred), Plate Cove, Margaret Molloy (Richard), St John’s, Beatrice Randell (Eliol), Port Rexton, Barbara Ayles (Ronald), Port Rexton, Josephine Yarscavitch (Robert), Monica Thomas (Steven), Marcella Gaudreau (David) and Yvonne Rice (Shawn), all of Kitchener, ON; five sons John (Rita), Louis (Debbie), Gerald, Brian (Sandra) and Wayne (Kimberly) all of Kitchener, ON; thirty nine grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren. Interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Plate Cove on Aug 25, 2001.

CHATMAN, Dorothy Irene
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on September 01, 2001 Dorothy Irene Chatman age 71, of Canning’s Cove. Leaving to mourn husband Jacob; son Tony; granddaughter Candy Holloway (Dion); two great grandchildren Joshua and Lucas; brother Hubert (Hazel) Chatman. Rested at St John The Devine Church, Canning’s Cove from where the funeral took place September 04, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday September 11, 2001 Edwin L. Avery of Clarenville, in his 99th year. Predeceased by his parents Eleazer and Emily, daughter Phyllis, three brothers and one sister. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Bessie of 73 years; daughters Blanche Eddy (Clarence), North Harbour and Yvonne Avery, Clarenville; sons Gordon (Grace), Toronto, ON and Eleazer (Myra), North West Brook; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2001, from the Memorial United Church, Clarenville, interment at the Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Memorial United Church, Clarenville.

ELLIS, Hedley Joseph
Passed peacefully away on September 15, 2001, Hedley Joseph Ellis of Lethbridge in his 71st year. Predeceased by his mother and father Alice and George; brother Samuel and Roland; sisters Minnie, Annie, Lilian, Mary and Myrtle and son Herbert. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Pearl of 50 years and 02 months; daughters Dorothy (Ron Miller), Patsy (Leo Budgell) and Yvonne Ellis, all of Ontario; son Calvin (Sharon) Ontario; brother Daniel, George’s Brook; grandchildren Tanya, Sherry, Rhonda, Cassandra, Brandon, Robert and Cory; great grandchildren Hayley, Jacob, Hanna and Garrett; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Wednesday September 19, 2001 from Seventh Day Adventist Church with interment at Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery, Lethbridge.
