Herbert Hancock
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, October 17, 2010, Herbert Hancock of Brooklyn, aged 72 years. Left with fond and loving memories his sister Adeline Butt (Eliol); nephews Brian (Cindy), Dave (Cathy), Glenn (Dianne) and Rex (Deanne); four great nephews; one great niece and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from the Anglican Church, Brooklyn. Cremation will take place with burial at a later date. In his memory donations may be made to Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville.

Sadie "Grace" Penney
Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family at the Bonavista Hospital Oct 9th, 2010, age 66 years. Leaving to mourn her husband Cyril, children Cindy (Perry Monks), Wilma (Kent Shirran), Clyde (Maxine nee Green), Leslie (Jennifer Yetman). Also, leaving to mourn four grandchildren, Tyler, Caitlin, Lydia and Spencer; brother Charles Quinton (Margaret), nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Donations can be made in her memory to the Hemodialysis Unit in Clarenville or St. James Anglican Church in King's Cove, Bonavista Bay. She will be sadly missed but fondly remember by family and friends.

Herbert Carberry
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at his home in Burgoynes Cove on Saturday, October 16, 2010, Herbert Carberry, aged 89 years. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Alfreda of 68 years; daughters Rose, Linda (Alvohn), Sharon (Paul); sons Harold (Evelyn), Bert (Sharon), Grant (Debbie), Calvin (Millie), Everet (Minnie), Lewis (Donna); 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister Pricella Day and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Burgoynes Cove. Funeral service took place on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Burgoynes Cove with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Burgoynes Cove. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church Building Fund, Burgoynes Cove

Sally Ploughman
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, Sally Ploughman of Port Blandford, formerly of Clarenville, aged 63 years. Predeceased by parents Carson Whalen and Mimie Soper; sisters Ida Peddle and Beulah Drover. Left with fond and loving memories her husband Ron of 41 years; son Robert (Janice); daughter Shannon (Pat); brother Roy Whalen (Ruby); sisters Elva Critch (Luke) and Alice Healy (Mike); step-brothers Don Soper; Wayne Soper and Derek Soper; grandchildren Melissa and Brandon and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex, St. John's on Thursday, October 13, 2010, Marcie Legge of Clarenville, aged 84 years. Predeceased by husband Griffin Legge and sister June Hennigar. Left with fond and loving memories her children Glenn (Carol Ann), Shoal Harbour and Garry, St. John's; brother Roy King, Corner Brook; grandchildren Michael, Adam, Kayla and Erin; great grandchildren Chelsea and Sydney and a large circle of relatives and friends. Memorial Service took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville on Saturday, October 16, 2010. In her memory donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Georgina Eva Combden
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. A. O'Mahony Manor in Clarenville on Sunday, October 10, 2010 Eva G. Combden of Clarenville, formerly of Barr'd Islands, Fogo Island in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Henry. Left with fond and loving memories her daughter Gertie (Calvin Best) of Clarenville, sons; George (Mabel) of Topsail, Edward (Shirley) of Barr'd Islands; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral took place on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from St. Mary's Anglican Church with interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Clarenville.

Predeceased by parents Manuel and Cassie; brothers Keith and Elmer; sisters Mary Adams and Audrey Coady; niece Jennifer Currie and brother-in-law John Coady. Left with fond and loving memories her sister Pauline (Fred) Barnes; brother Byron (Theresa), nieces and nephews Keith, Barry, Blair, Byron, Susan, Colleen, Jill, Gregory, and Grant along with a circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from the United Church, Milton-George's Brook with interment at the Milton-George's Brook Cemetery. Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, October 14, 2010, Enurchus King of Shoal Harbour, aged 76 years. Predeceased by parents, five brothers and one sister. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Sarah of 52 years; children Ivan (Beryl), Brian (Christine), Trudy Holloway and Iris Phillips (Weeden); seven grandchildren and one great grandson and a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Seniors Home, Clarke's Beach on Thursday, October 14, 2010, Minnie Stacey of Swift Current, aged 91 years. Predeceased by husband Walter; daughter Ivy; infant son Winston; son-in-law Eric Stacey; parents Eli and Elsie Giles; brother Sidney; sister Edna and sister-in-law Alma Giles. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Maxine Upshall (Albert), Swift Current, Glenys Upshall (Percy), North Harbour and Ruby Higdon (Benson), New Harbour, Trinity Bay; brothers Ralph Giles, Garden Cove and Clarence Giles (Daphne), Swift Current; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two step great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at Cozy Quarters in Clarenville on Friday, October 22, 2010, Beatrice Whalen of Caplin Cove, aged 90 years. Predeceased by husband Ernest; daughters Minnie Rodway and Florence Whalen; two grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters Martha Drodge (Jack) and Hilda Smith (Jake); son Norman (Frances); sister Gertie Strowbridge; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville and Little Heart's Ease. Funeral service took place Monday, October 25, 2010 from the United Church, Caplin Cove with interment at United Cemetery, Caplin Cove. In her memory donations may be made to United Church, Caplin Cove.

Charles Joseph Spurrell
Passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, Charles Spurrell of Dunfield, aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents Alberta (Woolridge) and William; brother Billy. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Ivy (Toope); children Lisa (Gerard Clarke), Paul (Krista) and Jody (Tony Harris); grandchildren Aaron, Alyssa, Alexis, Brooke and Courtney; brothers Gary (Sandra), Pleeman (Sheila) and Wilson (Loretta); sisters Loretta (Kevin), Valerie (Gary), Coriene (Glen) and Della (Keith) and a large circle of family and friends. It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Mary Philpott, age 89, from Plate Cove at the Luxury Estates, Bonavista, on October 21, 2010. Predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Walsh, husband, Frank, son, Frank, 3 infant sons, brothers, John and Nicholas Walsh, sister, Agnes Hamilton (Stan), twin sister, Josephine Turpin and 2 grandsons; Leaving to mourn are her daughters, Miriam (Paul Tracey) and Agnes (Edmund Philpott); grandchildren, Leon (Tina), Stefan (Susan), Gillian (Jerry), Jessica (Andrew) and Tyler; 3 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ethan and Hayden; sisters, Margaret Dalton, Gertrude Deverieze; brother, Jerome Walsh (Bridget); sister-in-law, Bridget Devereaux; brother-in-law, Gus Turpin and many other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Plate Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Father David Joy, took place on Monday, October 25, 2010 with interment following. Passed away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, October 21, 2010, Maud Fry of Summerville in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband Henry Fry; sister Phyllis Abbott; brothers Eli and Abel Abbott. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her brothers James Abbott of Paradise and Absalom Abbott (Eva) of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law Gladys Abbott, Summerville, Jessie Humby, Summerville and Vera Fry, Gander; nieces Annie Harris (Beaton), Port Blandford, Elva Wells (Fred), Cormack, Nellie Fry (Scott), Mount Pearl; nephews Joseph Abbott (Florence), Mount Pearl and Ivan Abbott, Mount Pearl; special friend Lorraine Fry, Summerville and a large circle of relatives and friends.
