SMITH, Harold Taylor - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on September 26, 2008, Harold Taylor Smith, age 82, from Hodges Cove. Predeceased by parents, Isaac and Johanna; grandchild, Trevor, sisters; Sarah and Flora; brothers, Stephen, Roland and Eliab. Leaving to mourn are his wife, Katherine (Katie); daughters, Sharon (Frank), Wanda (Hayward), Mary (Angus); grandchildren, Chris, Nora, Heather, Charlene, Matthew, Mitchell and Jenelle; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Blake; sister, Laura and other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Hodges Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Nelson Chatman, assisted by Rev. Predeceased by wife, Ethel, sister, Elizabeth, brothers, Kenneth, Eli, Harvey and Frank. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children, David (Dianne), Eldred (Shirley), Roslind (Roy) Stoyles, Joan (Melvin) Reid, Lorraine (Gordon) Green; 15 grandchildren (including Kelso (Mary) who was raised by John); 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Andrews Anglican Church, Sunnyside from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Glenn Small took place on September 23, 2008 with interment following. WHALEY, Eunice 1909-2008 - Passed away peacefully after a long and healthy life of 99 years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to Pamesville, Ohio and later to Adeytown and, most recently, to St. John's, NL. Predeceased by her husband Miles and her grandson Michael, Eunice is survived by her daughter Dianna Erbland (Alex); her grandchildren, Ann (Robert), Stephen (Neachel) ana Julie (Dawn); and great-grandchildren, Nathanial and Marissa Eunice was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends at Hoyles Complex. A period of visitation took place at Garnell's Funeral Home, St. John's on Saturday, September 27, from 5-7 p.m. where upon her remains were transferred to Clarenville for visitation at Fewer's Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28 Interment followed in the United Church Cemetery in Adeytown, Trinity Bay, In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hoyles-Escasoni Foundation 10 Escasoni Place St. John's, NL. BENEDICT, Georgina Lydia "Dolly" - 75, Canning, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008, surrounded by her family in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in George's Brook, NL, Dolly was a daughter of the late John and Delilah (Bailey) Ploughman. Georgina "Dolly" was a wonderful mother, loving wife and a caring grandmother. She raised her family in Greenwich and in 2003 she and her husband, Delbert moved to Canning. A part of her heart always belonged to Newfoundland. Dolly loved music and enjoyed singing and playing gui­tar. She was a loving and patient person whose positive attitude and easy laughter will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Delbert Benedict, Canning; her children who will always treasure her memory and spirit, daughters, Heather (Ivan) Bishop, Canaan, Connie (Stan) Schofield, Gaspereau; sons, Darrell (Barbara) Benedict, Sheffield Mills, Dana Benedict, Canaan; grandchildren, Justin and Erin Bishop, Ryan and Brenton Gertridge, Alex and Abigail Schofield, Rhianon Benedict (they will miss their nana); brother, Colin Ploughman, Scotland; sisters, Beulah Florio, New Jersey, Effie Hodder, George's Brook, NL, Mae (Milford) Corkum, Port Williams; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Dolly was predeceased by her son, Douglas Fluck; broth­ers, Bernard, Ben, Eric, Edwin and Ralph Ploughman; sisters, Doris Warren, Deborah Taverner and Edna (Corkum) Tipple.

AVERY, Susanna - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Sunday, September 28th, 2008 Susanna Avery of Long Beach aged 101 yeats. Predeceased by her husband William, brother Fred and sister Dorothy. Left with fond and loving memories her sons Wilson (Beulah) of Long Beach and Eldred (Jean) of Long Beach; sisters Bessie residing at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home and Edna residing at Clarenville Retirement Center; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Rested at St Mark's Anglican Church in Long Beach. Funeral service held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from St. Mark's Church with interment at the United Cemetery in Long Beach. READER, Jessie - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, October 4, 2008, Jessie Reader of Bloomfield, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband, Ashwell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons, Gerald (Joyce), Bloomfield and James (Marion), Bloomfield; grandchildren, Janice Reader(Darrell) and Allan Reader and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Monday, October 6, 2008 from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown with interment at United Cemetery, Musgravetown. HOUSE, Matilda Jane - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MATILDA HOUSE, on September 30, 2008 at age 88 years. She was known to many as "Aunt Tillie" from Port Union, Trinity Bay. Predeceased by her husband, Peter, son, John, daughter, Gloria, brothers: James, Charlie, and Daniel; leaving to mourn are her daughter-in-law, Joan, two grandchildren, Cairine and Christopher; also leaving to mourn are two sisters: Pearl (George, predeceased) Allen, and Stella (Nicholas) Ford, as well as a number of close relatives and friends. Rested at Strathie's Funeral Home in Catalina, Trinity Bay. Funeral service officiated by Majors Terry and Roxann Feltham at the Salvation Army Citadel in Bonavista NL, Friday, October, 3, 2008, with interment following.
She will be remembered and sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Passed peacefully away at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 12, 2008, Leslie Bailey of George's Brook in his 79th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 55 years, Madge; sons: Mansfield of George's Brook, Arthur and fiancee Elizabeth Lane of Port Union, Stephen and wife Lilly of Clarenville; daughter: Winnie Drodge Bailey and boyfriend Abraham Budgell of Peterview, grandson: Jeremy; granddaughter: Vanessa; great-grandson: Zander; and brother: Joseph Baker; plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by mother Amy Ann Baker and father Aaron Adams. Funeral service was officiated by Pastor Dennis Newbury and Pastor Andrews from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, George's Brook on October 15, 2008 with interment following at Milton/George's Brook Cemetery.
