Tilley, Joshua (Josh), Todd of Red Deer, Alberta, formerly of Elliston, Newfoundland, died suddenly at the age of 20 years on Sunday, October 2, 2005, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in St. John’s on August 3, 1985. As a family, the Tilley’s moved to Alberta in September 1998. Josh will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his parents Hansel and Deborah, one brother Adam (Elaine Diamond), two sisters Stacey (Rob Reid) and Tiffany, two nieces Brianna and Desiree, grandmothers Eunice and Effie and his very special friend Kimmy. Also mourning his loss, are numerous family members and friends in Alberta and Newfoundland. Funeral services for the late Joshua Todd Tilley were held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Catalina, Newfoundland, on Monday, October 10, 2005. Interment followed. Flowers are gracefully declined. Funeral arrangements are in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta, and Strathie’s Funeral Home of Bonavista, Newfoundland. Payne, Geraldine - Passed away tragically at her home in Clarenville on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, Geraldine Payne of Clarenville, formerly of George’s Brook, aged 33 years. Leaving to mourn with fond memories her parents Herbert and Maxine Payne, George’s Brook; brother Marvin Payne, George’s Brook; a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Rested at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, George’s Brook. Funeral service took place on Friday, September 30, 2005, with interment at Milton-George’s Brook Cemetery.

 

Abbott - We regret to announce the passing of Richard Abbott, age 88, from Charlottetown, at the Baie Verte Peninsulas Health Care Center on September 30, 2005. Predeceased by daughter Judy. Leaving to mourn, his wife of 55 years, Maude; step-son Leonard (Pansy); two step-children and two step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at the Salvation Army, Charlottetown, from where the funeral service, officiated by Captain Charlene Hillier, took place on Monday, October 3, 2005, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

King - Passed away peacefully at the Harbour Lodge, Carbonear, on September 27, 2005, Lloyd Stuart King, age 91, of Lower Lance Cove, formerly of Deer Harbour, Predeceased by his wife Myrtle; daughter Lettie; grandaughter Marie; sister Zena; and brother Cecil. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his grandson Bob; great-grandchildren Christopher and Paula; son-in-law Esau (Myrtle); niece Inez; as well as a circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy’s Funeral Home, Hickman’s Harbour. The funeral service officiated by Mrs. Elsie Squires took place on September 29, 2005, at the United Church, Britannia. Interment at the United Church Cemetery, Britannia.

Crocker, Raymond - Passed away at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s, on Thursday, September 29, 2005, Raymond Crocker of Goobies, age 75 years. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Doreen of 49 years; seven sisters and their families; two brothers and their families; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at the Pentecostal Church, Goobies. Funeral took place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at the Pentecostal Church Goobies. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Swift Current. In lieu of flowers donations accepted in his memory to the Pentecostal Church, Goobies.

 

Fifield, Rev. Cecil - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, October 3, 2005, the Reverend Cecil Fifield, aged 76 years. Son of the late Augustus and Bertha Fifield of Trinity East, predeceased by sister Mary and brother Gerald (Janet). Beloved husband of Marian (Hartt); cherished father of Carol (Ken Ryan), Beverley (Charlie Gearin), and David (Jill Bonnell); and adoring grandfather of Mollie Elizabeth Gearin. Also leaving to mourn, sisters Amy (late William) Coles, Louise (late Calvin) Humber, Mae Glen and Jessie (William) Abraham; brothers Harold (late Myrtle), Walter (late Edith) and Mark (late Irene, Lois); special friend Joanne; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rested at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, Tuesday, October 4, and Wednesday, October 5. Requiem Eucharist at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Thursday, October 6. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be made to the Anglican Cathedral Endowment Fund, the SPCA or a charity of one’s choice.

Russell, Mabel - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, October 8, 2005 after a brief illness, Mabel Russell of Chamberlains, C.B.S. formerly of Bonavista, NL, age 86 years. Predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1970, parents Richard and Mary Cooper, two brothers (John and Heber) and one sister (Winnie). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Mamie Oakley and son-in-law Gilbert, son Barry and daughter-in-law Beverly, several nieces and nephews, friends Jim and Kim, and other relatives and friends in Bonavista, C.B.S., Mount Pearl and St. John’s. Funeral service took place from Christ Anglican Church, Bonavista, on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Anglican Cemetery, Bonavista. Further arrangements by Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista.

Penney, Joseph - Passed away peacefully at the St. Clare’s Hospital, St. John’s, on October 25, 2005, Joseph L. Penney of Canning’s Cove, age 78 years. Brinston, Meta - Passed away at Carbonear Hospital on Sunday, October 23, 2005, Meta Brinston of Swift Current, aged 90 years. Predeceased by husband Josiah, son Raymond, daughter Rudy, son-in-law Ben Snook, three brothers and three sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Albert (Rosie), Goobies; daughter-in-law Georgina Brinston, Swift Current; sisters-in-law Lillian Giles, Neta Beck and Violet Brinston, all of Swift Current; grandchildren Craig Brinston, Paula Whelan, Cory Brinston, Denise Sullivan, Colleen Snook, Doreen Butler and Amanda Byrde; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at United Church, Swift Current. Funeral service held Wednesday, October 26, 2005, from United Church, Swift Current, with interment at United Cemetery, Swift Current. Miller, Walter - Passed away suddenly at Bonavista Hospital on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, Walter Miller of Old Bonaventure, aged 67 years. Predeceased by parents Dorothy and Hubert Miller and sister Barbara Miller. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Lucy of 47 years; daughters Barbara (Joseph), Port Saunders, and Tracey Toope (David), Old Bonaventure; sons Gordon (Jocelyn), Old Bonaventure, Dennis (Juanita), Burgoyne’s Cove, and Tobias (Minnie), Old Bonaventure; sisters Emma Chaulk (Wilfred), Corner Brook, and Annie Kane (Stanley), Pasadena; brother Edward (Betty), Sops Arm; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Chaulk, Albert Maxwell - Passed away peacefully at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, Albert Maxwell Chaulk of Bunyan’s Cove, aged 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories the staff and residents of Seaside Lodge, Jamestown, where he resided. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Friday, October 28, 2005, from United Church, Bunyan’s Cove, with interment at United Cemetery, Bunyan’s Cove.
