SMITH, Ralph - Passed suddenly away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Tuesday, September 25, 2001, Ralph Smith, age 86, from Aspey Brook, Random Island. Leaving to mourn wife Inez; three sons Vincent, Aspey Brook, Everett (Ruby), Hampden and Lorne (Alice), Clarenville; one brother Vernon (Beth), NB; five grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Rested at the Central United Church, Elliott's Cove from where the funeral took place on September 27, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

GREEN, Douglas
(December 28, 1921 - September 19, 2001)

His journey has ended, he now walks hand in hand with the Lord. It is with sadness the family of the late Douglas Green of Deep Bight, announce his passing at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday September 19, 2001. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 57 years, Mary (nee Hiscock). His legacy continues through his seven children Vickie (Milton Avery), Fort McMurray, AB, Janet (Walter Lethbridge), Clarenville; Dallas (Karl Quinton), Princeton; Avalene; Glenn (Diane); and Brenda (Jim Buffett) all at Kingston, ON; and Roger (Paulette), Deep Bight. Also left to mourn are fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a large circle of nieces and nephews and families. Predeceased by parents Pleoman and Victoria (Hyde) and brothers Ronald, Enoch and Andrew. Interment was at Deep Bight Cemetery on Saturday September 22, 2001. Donations to the Cemetery Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

REID, Theophilus
It is with great sadness the family of the late Theophilus Reid of Sunnyside, age 84, announce his passing at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, on Saturday September 29, 2001. He will be  missed dearly by his wife Lily; three sons Clayton (Donna), Eric and Melvin (Joan); one daughter Donna (Doug Barfitt); one brother Holomew (Via); one sister Leah (Tom Turner); one daughter-in-law Masie; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Sunnyside Pentecostal Tabernacle from where the funeral took place on Tuesday October 02, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

QUINTON, Clarence
(July 22, 1938 - September 22, 2001)

It is with great sorrow, the family  of the late Clarence Quinton announce his sudden passing at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, September 22, 2001. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years Doreen and his five children Roger (Mary), Bonavista, Yvonne (Allister), Catalina, Lisa (Dennis), Ont., Scott (Roxanne), Bonavista and Rodney (Bernadette), ON. Also dearly missed by his sister Katie (Llewlyn), Sandringham, grandson Curtis, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment was at Red Cliffe Anglican Cemetery on Tuesday, September 25, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Strathie's Funeral Home.

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Thursday, September 27, 2001, John A. Penney of Canning's Cove, aged 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Eva of 43 years; daughters Karen (Robert Pike), Shoal Harbour, and Valerie (Larry Skiffengton), Canning's Cove; sons Baxter, Glenn (Barbara), Todd (Donna) and Robbie (Verda), all of Canning's Cove; sister Mae (Gord Penney), Canning's Cove; brother Edgar (Dora), Canning's Cove; sister-in-law Ethel Moss, Canning's Cove; grandchildren Vanessa, Sheldon, Ryan, Gloria, Crystal, Chantelle, Shane, Lisa, Todd Jr. and Christine; and a circle of relatives and friends. Rested at St. John Divine Anglican Church, Canning's Cove, with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Canning's Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville.

BUTT, Gordon
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, October 5, 2001, Gordon Butt of North West Brook, age 64. Leaving to mourn wife Flora; two daughters Nancy (Bernie) and Lenora (Kevin); son Craig (Gail); five grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church in North West Brook from where the funeral took place, October 7, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

CROCKER, Ernest B.
August 17, 1932 - October 9, 2001

It is with great sadness the family of the late Ernest B. Crocker of Swift Current, aged 69 years, announce his passing at G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, October 9, 2001. He will be deeply missed by his wife Florence of 45 years; daughter Paulette Shea; sons wade (Una), Barry (Janice) and Brent, all of Swift Current; sisters Joyce Barrington, Swift Current and Sylvia (Ed Penney), Willowdale, ON; brothers Roy (Olive), Eldridge (Madonna), Swift Current, Harvey (Joyce), Toronto, ON and Ralph (Hilda), Calendon, ON, special niece Brenda (Dave Harvey), Calgary, AB; eight grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home. Funeral service held on Friday, October 12, 2001 from Bethany United Church, Swift Current.

SNOOK, Minnie
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, Minnie Snook of North Harbour, aged 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Walter. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Bonnie (Wayne Brinston), North Harbour; sons Donald Hussey (Daphne) and Ross Hussey (Donna), both of North Harbour; step-daughters Mabel (Wesley Snow), Lewisporte, Doris (Walter Piercey), Sunnyside and Clarice (Boyd Eddy), Sunnyside; step-son Theodore Snook (Myrtle), Long Pond; sister Alice Eastman (George), Willowdale, ON; brother Lloyd Barrett (Eliza), North Harbour; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a number of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held Friday, Oct.19, 2001 from Bethel United Church, North Harbour with interment at United Cemetery, North Harbour. In her memory donations may be made to Anglican Church, North Harbour or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

GILBERT, Dallas
Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, Dallas Gilbert of St. John's, formerly of North Harbour, aged 44 years. Fredeceased by her mother Evelyn and brother Robert Dale. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories father Cecil Oliver of North Harbour; sisters Rosalind (Jonas Newhook), Arnold's Cove. Yvonne (Lee Loder), North Harbour and Maxine (Harvey Siade), North Harbour; brother, Ewart Oliver (Sandra); nephews James and Bradley; nieces Selma, Kathy, Michele, and Krista and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Bethel United Church, North Harbour. Funeral service held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001 from Bethel United Church, North Harbour with interment at United Cemetery, North Harbour. Special thank you to the nurses at Dialysis United, Health Sciences Centre for their care over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

ROACH, Beatrice B.
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, October 21, 2001, Beatrice B. Roach, formerly of Port Blandford, aged 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Harold. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Lossie (William Trask), Canning's Cove, Joyce (Barrett Clouter), Port Blandford, Rose (Weldon Clouter), Port Blanford  Shirley, (Roy Holloway), Bloomfield and Beverley (Kenneth Templeman), Morley’s Siding, with whom she resided; sons Otto Oldford (Pearl), Glenwood and Reginald Roach (Minnie), Port Blanford; twenty grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at United Church, Port Blanford. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 from the United Church, Port Blanford with interment at United Cemetery, Port Blanford.

KING, Byron
Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, Byron King of Trouty, aged 55 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Louise of 36 years; son Fred (Teresa), Halifax, NS; grandchildren Matthew and Justin; brothers Eric (May), Bruce (Connie) and John (Corinne), all of St. John's; sisters-in-law Dorcas. Pitcher, St. John's and Gloria King, Trouty; and a circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton and St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Trouty. Funeral service held on Friday, October 26, 2001 from St Matthew's Anglican Church, Trouty with interment at, Anglican Church Cemetery, Trouty. In his memory donations may be made to St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Trouty.

SPURRELL,Thomas
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, October 22,2001, Thomas Spurrell of Trinity, aged 76 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Margaret; children Jacqueline (Levi Locke), Gerald (Barbara), and Irene (Fred Miller); grandchildren Corina (Stephen Holloway), Roy Locke (Charlene), James and Judy Miller; one great-grandchild Jillian Locke; sisters Hannah Martin, Huntsville, Alabama and Sylvia Hiscock, Trinity; and a number of relatives and friends. Rested at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity. Funeral service held on Thursday, October 25, 2001 from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity with interment at the Anglican Church Cemetery,Trinity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Discovery Health Care Foundation at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

LODER, Wilfred
On Friday, October 19, 2001, Wilfred Loder, age 60, passed suddenly away at the Health Science Complex, St. John's. His final days were brightened by the ongoing presence and support of his loving wife, Lillian. Also leaving to mourn are his children Rick, Mabel (Keith), Roxanne and Wade (Lauren); grandchildren Shane, Morgan and Suzette; brothers Eric, Gordon, Hedley, Eli and Eugene; one sister Juanita; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the Grace United Church, Hillview from where the funeral took place on Monday, October 22, 2001. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.
