BAIRD, George C.

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our brother and uncle on November 21st, 2018 in Toronto, ON after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. George was predeceased by his parents, Douglas & Ivy Baird of Hodge's Cove, NL. He is survived by his sisters Audrey Baird (Jerome Tobin), Donna Whalen (Rick) & Sharlene and his brother Doug Baird (Jennifer) as well as his nephews Matthew Tobin, Troy Whalen (Brontë), Mackenzie Baird and Daniel Baird and his one and only special niece, Sophie Baird. As per George's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date in Hodge's Cove. Should you wish to make a donation in George's memory, please consider Covenant House Toronto or your local food bank. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Services, Tottenham, ON.

BLUNDELL, Cecil

Cecil Harry Maxwell Blundell (May 21, 1938 - November 26, 2018)

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Cecil Blundell on Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish at the age of 80 years. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie and many of his family members at the time of his passing.
Born May 21, 1938, the fifth of six children, to the late Max and Maud (George) Blundell. Cecil was predeceased by his sister Hazel and brother Clarence. The family lived in Hickman's Harbour until he moved to Grand Falls - Windsor in 1968.
Cecil was a devoted husband and father to his three children Bernice, Marie and Glenn. They lived in Grand Falls - Windsor, Newfoundland where he was proud to have worked almost 40 years as a member of the Canadian National Railway where he held roles as Conductor and Brakeman. In his spare time, Cecil took immaculate care of his home, was lover of cars, driving and western movies. After his retirement from the railway, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and catching up with former co-workers reminiscing about the good times they shared on the railroad.
He was also a loving grandfather, great grandfather and a dear friend of many, he will be forever remembered for his charm, whit, and ability to make everyone laugh.
Cecil is survived by his wife Nellie (Woolridge); his children, Bernice (Ernie) Wotton, Antigonish, Nova Scotia; Marie Sharpe (Alf), St. John's, Newfoundland; Glenn (Mica) Blundell, Toronto, Ontario; four grandchildren, Lewis (Lisa), Sara (Dustin), Kyle (Sarah), Bryce (Lisa), Rebecca and Dylan; one great-grandson, Tate. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (late George) Butt, brothers, Fred (late Josephine), Wallace (Janet) Blundell. Also survived by three nieces and one nephew along with several additional family members and close friends who held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will take place from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 7:00-9:00p.m. on Friday, November 30th at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour, Newfoundland. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00a.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, Hickman's Harbour.

DALTON, Lillian

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Lillian Dalton of Clarenville, formerly of Little Catalina, aged 94 years. Predeceased by her parents James & Janie Dalton; husband Gordon; son Allan; son-in-law Owen Squires; sister Dorett (Stanley) Dalton. Left with fond and loving memories her daughter Ruby; three grandchildren Christopher, Dean (Jenina) and Dennis; two great grandchildren Justin and Chelsea; great great grandson Jaxin; and large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville and Strathie's Funeral Home in Catalina. Funeral Service took place on Friday, November 30, 2018 from the United Church, Little Catalina with interment at the United Cemetery, Little Catalina. In her memory donations may be made to the United Church, Little Catalina.

MacDONALD, Lorna Jeanette (nee Strong)
Born: April 15th, 1932
Passed on: November 16th, 2018

Passed peacefully away in Whitbourne, surrounded by her loving family, Lorna MacDonald, age 86. Predeceased by her dear and devoted husband, Vaughan; her parents, Lillian and Arthur Strong; parents-in-law, Elwood and Vera MacDonald; her brothers and sisters Raymond, William, Cecil, Gladys, Elizabeth, and Rosemary. Left to mourn are her children, Scott (Denice), Trent, and Elizabeth; her grandson, Nick (Leanne), her great-grandson, Kade; her sister, Joan Duffitt, her brother Angus (Winnie); a great many nieces and nephews, and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Vardy's Funeral Home on Monday, November 19th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A memorial service will take place at the United Church in Lady Cove on Tuesday, November 20th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted for the School Lunch Program at Random Island Academy.

PEDDLE-WHITE, Marguerite
Passed on: November 15th, 2018

Passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge, St. John's on Thursday, November 15, 2018, Marguerite Peddle-White, aged 84 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents Chesley and Effie Penney; first husband Robert Peddle, second husband Gilbert White; son Grenfell; granddaughter Sabrina Baker; sisters Eileen Drodge and Laura Martin. Left with fond and loving memories her children Wayne (Barb), Scott (Christine), Donna (Raymond), Robert (Vonnie), Terrence (Barb), Yvonne (Danny), Junior (Lori), Elaine (Bob) and Gail (Bill); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Addie Martin (Eldon) and Maude Spurrell (Allison); brother-in-law Sam Martin; many nieces and nephews; the White family in Lewisporte; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church, Sunnyside. Funeral service took place on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Anglican Church, Sunnyside with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
Mom, we love you and will remember you always.

PHILLIPS, Louisa
Passed on: November 23rd, 2018

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Friday, November 23, 2018 Louisa Phillips of Burgoyne's Cove, aged 80 years. Predeceased by her husband Wandsworth; sisters Hilda Carberry (Late Roy) and Emily Coish (Late Chesley), brothers Tom and Robert (Late Pheobe). Left with fond and loving memories are her sisters Gladys Companion (Late Eric), Alma Wiseman (Late Arch), Dorcas Penney (Late Roland), brother Cecil (Betty) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville and St. Mary's Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove. Funeral Service took place on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Burgoyne's Cove.

PITTS, Pleman

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, November 16, 2018, Pleman Pitts of Cannings Cove, aged 84 years. Predeceased by parents Chesley and Rita; son baby boy Pitts; sister Dorothy and brother Maxwell. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Verlie of 59 years; children Terry, Roger and Lee Ann (Gerry); grandchildren Cheryl, Nikki, Gavin, Alyssa, Morgan, Madison and Mackenzie; great grandchildren Keanna, Hayley, Leah, Landon and Hayden; sisters Susie (Bill) and Patricia (Ivan); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, Cannings Cove. Funeral service took place on Monday, November 19, 2018 from St. John the Divine Anglican Church, Cannings Cove with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Cannings Cove.
