9, 2006 of St. John's and Lower Island Cove. In the presence
of his wife and son while being held in a circle of love, Dave
passed over. From 1972-1984, he served as Member of Parliament
for the former riding of Bonavista-Trinity-Conception, which always
remained a special place for him. This was especially true for
the North Shore - his birthplace. Predeceased by parents Alexander
and Ethel (Garland) Rooney, and sister Jennifer Kitchen. Left to
celebrate his life, love, appreciation of music and sense of humor
are his wife, partner and best friend Ruth, and his son and fishing
buddy, David. Dave will also be remembered by his sister Carolyn
(Maj. Barry Cockerline, Ret'd), Belleville, ON; brothers John (Shirley)
and Jim (Maxine), brother-in-law Dr. Hubert Kitchen, all residing
in St. John's. Also, several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle
of other relatives, friends, and former colleagues throughout Newfoundland
and Labrador and across Canada. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home
