IVANY, Ruby
Passed away suddenly at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, Ruby Ivany of George's Brook, aged 69 years. Predeceased by husband, Gregory (2001); granddaughter, Jasmine (1996); brothers, Albert (1996) and Chesley (1981) and mother, Irene (1975). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her son, Dale at George's Brook; grandson, Bradley; father, Weldon Stanley at George's Brook; sister, Millicent Ploughman (Edison) at George's Brook; nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place on Mon., Oct. 27, 2003, from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, George's Brook. Interment at Milton-George's Brook Cemetery.

OSMOND, Sterling Hedley
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Thur., Oct. 23, 2003, Sterling Hedley Osmond of Lethbridge, aged 79 years. Predeceased by infant daughter, Rita (1951); daughter, Gladys (1959); son, John (1976); sister, Rita and brother, Bert. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife, Mildred (nee Butt) of 56 years; daughters, Elsie (the late James Perentesis) at Sundridge, ON, Lucy (Wallace Janes) at Grand Falls, Shirley (William Martin) at St Phillips, Ivy (Dan MacKinnon) at Huntsville, ON, Evelyn (Paul Killam) at Moncton, NB, Karen (Greg Garland) at Moncton, NB, and daughter/granddaughter, Judy (Kendall Underhill) at Moncton NB; sons, Douglas (Shirley) at Huntsville, ON, Larry (Dawn) at Quebec, Craig (Joanne) at Huntsville, ON, Floyd (Diana) at Moncton, NB, Tony (Bea) at Huntsville, ON, and Paul (Angela) at Moncton, NB; sister, Ivy (Myles Slade) at Salmon Cove, NL; brothers, Jerry (Osta) at Huntsville, ON, and John (Bertha) at Alliston, ON; 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a circle of relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements were carefully made by Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge, and funeral was conducted at Salvation Arrny, Lethbridge, by Capt. Julia Butler on Oct. 27, 2003. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Lethbridge. Tnbutes were given by family friend Ret. Capt. Gerald Hynes and by daughter Evelyn on behalf of the family. Memorials appreciated to Salvation Army, Lethbndge, or Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

PARSONS, Aaron
Passed away suddenly at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Oct. 26, 2003, Aaron Parsons of Sunnyside, aged 70 years. Predeceased by his wife, Cynthia; and brothers, James, Gerald and Archibald. Leaving to mourn daughter, Selma; son-in-law, Leonard Martin at Sunnyside; and son Brian; daughter-in-law, Connie at Sunnyside; grandchildren, Amanda, Garrett and Grant; and a number of relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, Sunnyside. Funeral service took place on Wed., Oct. 29, 2003, from United Church, Sunnyside. Interment at United Cemetery, Sunnyside.

TUCKER, Eli Russell
Passed away suddenly on Wed., Oct.22, 2003, Eli Russell Tucker, aged 84 years. Member of the Naval Association, Orange Lodge and the Wesley United Church Male Choir. Predeceased by his parents, Silas and Wallace Tucker; sisters, Woodrow MacLeod, Dallas King and Aileen Holloway; brothers, Winston, Hayward, Eric and Lloyd; and son-in-law, Clarence Hackett. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife, Leonie; daughters, Ivy Sweetapple (Eric) and Daphne Hackett; sons, Russell, Wayne, Wallace (Sharon), Craig and Caleb (Janice); 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. George (Evelyn) Harold (Clarice) and Aubrey; sister, Lavinia (William) King; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Barrett’s Funeral Home. Then rested at Faith United Church, St. Jones Within, on Friday. Funeral service took place on Sat., Oct. 25, from Faith United Church interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Fueral Home Random island.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Fri., Oct. 24, 2003, Frederick Pike of Portland, aged 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Winnifred of 40 years; daughter, Judy (Kevin) at Portland; sons, Terry (Daphne) at Portland, Gerald (Darlene) at St. John's and Wayne (Ethel) at Portland; sister, Nellie Russell at Brooklyn; brother, Gordon (Verda) at Portland; four grandchildren, Nicole, Nicholas, Michael and Mitchell; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at United Church, Portland. Funeral service held on Sun., Oct.26, 2003, from United Church, Portland. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Portland.

GREENING, Willis
Passed peacefully away at Bonavista Hospital on Wed., Oct. 29, 2003, Willis Greening of Musgravetown, aged 94 years. Predeceased by his wife, Gladys (1992). Leaving to mourn, his sisters, Ella Matthews and Myrtus Little; sister-in-law, Cave Greening; and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Fri., Oct. 31, 2003, from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. Interment at United Church Cemetery, Musgravetown. As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory gratefully accepted to United Church Cemetery Fund, Musgravetown.

CHURCHILL, William
Passed peacefully at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Fri., Oct. 24, 2003, William Churchill of Clarenville, aged 93 years. Predeceased by wife, Mary (1992); and son, Winston (2001). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Linda (Donald Baird) at Clarenville and Olive (Colin Chisholm) at Antigonish, NS; son, Fred (Helen) at Clarenville; daughter-in-law, Rosalind Churchill at Clarenville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place Sun., Oct. 26, 2003, from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville. Interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. In his memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundatlon.

ELLIOTT, George
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross  Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sat., Nov. 1, 2003, George Elliott of Winterbrook, aged 84 years. Predeceased by his wife, Lena; and brother, Harvey. Left with fond and loving memories his son, Douglas (Lisa); and grandchildren, Danny and Terri; devoted friend, Merian Penney and family, Canning's Cove; one brother, Gordon (Rita), Jamestown; two sisters, Alma Button, Victoria, Carbonear and Florence Moss, Grand Bank; one sister-in-law, Emma Elliott, Winterbrook; also a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Remains rested at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Winterbrook. Funeral took place Tues., Nov. 4, 2003. Interment at Anglican Cemetery, Winterbrook. In his memory a memorial fund to the St. Mary's Anglican Church in Winterbrook will be accepted.

HISCOCK, Caroline (Carrie)
Passed peacefully away at her home in Trinity in the early hours on Oct. 31, 2003, Caroline (Carrie) Hiscock, age 82. Predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and William Walters. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories her husband of 60 years Cyril: sons, Douglas (Jean) at Grand Falls, Harvey (Ruth) at St. Phillips, Ian (Cindy) at Kamloops, BC, Ivan (Carey) at Kamloops, BC, and Neil (Wanda), at Topsail; sisters, Ester Goldsworthy at Clarenville and Anita Pearce (Walter) at St. John's; sister-in-law, Irene Douglas (John) at Brewer, Maine, USA; 15 grandchil­dren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends, especially Helen (Jack) Bellows. Rested at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity, where the funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Nelson R. J. Chatman, assisted by Julie Hiscock, took place on Nov. 2, 3003. The body of the late Caroline Hiscock was laid to rest at the Anglican Cemetery, Trinity. Funeral arrangements entrusted to vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

THOMAS, Cyril
It is with great sadness the family of the late Cyril Thomas, age 82 announce his peaceful passing in the presence of his loving wife at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Nov 2, 2003. Predeceased by his son, Willis; grandson, Jody; and sister, Ella Stringer. Leaving to mourn after 61 years of marriage, his wife, Ethel; children, Doug (Ruth), Ron (Greta), Ella (Jim Peddle), Geraldine (Winston Avery), Patsy (Richard Goobie) and Ethel (Don Seaward); 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; plus many other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Hodge's Cove, from where the funeral service, officiated by the Rev. E. Mercer took place on Nov. 4, 2003. He was laid to eternal rest at the Anglican Cemetery, Hodge's Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, John William Mercer of Clarenville, formerly of Joe Batts Arm, Fogo Island, Newfoundland, age 71 years. Leaving to mourn with many precious and loving memories are his wife Isabel; four daughters Wanda (Ed) Best, Marina (Brant) Dyer, Phyllis Yvonne (Wayne) Metherall and Pauline (Roy) Snelgrove; brothers Fred (Helen), Edgar, Stan (Violet), Leonard (Betty), Charlie (Violet) and George (Lily); sisters Mary (Art) Brown and Sarah (Dorman) Brown; grandchildren Krista, Shaun, Meighan, Jonathan, Jody, Brandon and Ryan.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2003, Florence Barnes of Shoal Harbour, formerly of Trouty, aged 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Jeremiah (2000). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Daisy Janes (Norman) at New Bonaventure and Joan Matthews (Everett) at Shoal Harbour; sister Effie Walters (Hezekiah) at Clarenville; brother Tom Ryan at Lewisporte; grandchildren Tammy, Dwight, Nancy, Norman and Karen; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral service took place on Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, from Anglican Church, Trouty. Interment at Anglican Cemetery, Trouty.

COOK, Charles Lloyd
Passed peacefully away at his home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, Charles Lloyd Cook of Port Rexton, aged 66 years. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Mary Cook and sister Ruby Matthews. Left with fond and loving memories his longtime friend and companion Janet Ballett, daughters Sandra Bryant (Wayne) at Hickman's Harbour, Florence Bryant (Gary) at Hickman's Harbour and Beverly King (John) at St. John's; son Donald at Miami, Florida; sisters Amy Norman (Ben) at Port Union, Hazel Sheppard at Catalina, Rose Sheppard at Catalina, Ethel at Ontario and Loretta Barbour (Alec) at Bonavista; brother Watson at Port Rexton; seven grandchildren Sonia (Jason), Jason, Jennifer, Stephen, Pamela, Chelsea and Courtney; two great-grandsons Ethan and Kyle; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral took place on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, from the Anglican Church in Port Rexton with cremation to follow.

FOWLOW, Amy
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother and aunt, Amy Fowlow, age 88, from Trinity East. She passed peacefully away In the presence of her sons and granddaughter in the early hours of Nov. 16, 2003, at the Bonavista Health Care Complex, Bonavista. She leaves to mourn with many precious memones her sons Rayfield (Carolyn), William (Bill) (Barbara) and Austin (Evelyn); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; plus many other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Trinity East, from where the funeral service, officiated by the Reverend J. Gillam, took place on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003. Her body was laid to rest at the Anglican Cemetery, Pont Rexton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

MACKEY, William Michael
Passed peacefully away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Ontario, on Oct. 26, 2003, William Michael Mackey of Melrose, aged 55 years. Lovingly remembered and always missed by wife Delores (nee Gosse), son Dwayne, brothers Edward (Bride) and Eugene (Debbie), sister Bride, grandsons Michael and Matthew, nieces, nephews and great-niece Kiley.

Passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Nov. 10, 2003, George Drover of Hodge's cove, age 78 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories his wife of 57 years Clarice; four sons: Ted (Lillian), Labrador City, Wayne (Joan), Hodge's Cove, victor (Laura), Hodge's Cove and Carl (Brenda), Labrador City; two daughters Dolly (Cam) Martin, Hodge's Cove and George (Joe), Barbosa, Bermuda; grandchildren: Tim, Lisa, Tammy, Duane, Rocky, Tiffany, Matt, Jeffrey, Lori-Lynn, Missy and Jeremy; great-grandchildren: Brent, Jessica, Tyler, Dwayne, Dillon, Cassie, Mackenzie, Maggie and Katie; brothers Walter (Ida), Hodge's Cove, Hayward (Marie), Shoal Harbour, Archer (Annie), Hodge's Cove and Frank (Sandra), Hodge's Cove; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends, including members of the Loyal Orange Lodge and the Southwest Arm Lions Club, of which he was an active member of both. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home. Funeral took place at St. Mary's Anglican  Church. Interment at the Anglican Church Cemetery in Hodge's Cove.

PIERCEY, Myrtle
Passed away peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home (in the presence of her family) on Nov. 13, 2003, Mrs. Myrtle Piercey (age 93) of Canning's Cove. Predeceased by her husband Joseph and infant son Peter. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Clarence (Edna), Ontario; daughters Sadie Morris, St. John's (with whom she resided), Clara (Gerald Russell), Musgravetown, Una (George Snow), Ontario and Louise Piercey (friend Ed Baker), Old Shop; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; niece Myrtle (Sam Mason); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at St. John The Devine Anglican Church, Canning's Cove, where the funeral service took place on Nov.16, 2003. Donations may be made to the Church Building Fund in her memory.

WHITE, Winston
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, Winston White of Bunyan's Cove in his 78th year. Predeceased by his mother Adeline and his father Samuel. Left with fond and loving memories wife Rowena of 50 years; daughter Eileen (Guy) of Bunyan's Cove; sons Dean (Kimberly) at Hillview and Dexter (Darlene) at Charlottetown; grandchildren Connie at Bunyan's Cove, Paulette (Dwayne) at Bunyan's Cove, Kendell at Charlottetown and Mackenzie at Hillview; great-grandchildren Tyler and Chelsea at Bunyan's Cove; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at United Church in Bunyan's Cove. Funeral took place on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at the United Church. Interment at the United Cemetery in Bunyan's Cove.

MURPHY, John Thomas
(February 9, 1955 - November 16, 2003)

Passed peacefully away at Ottawa General Hospital on Sun., Nov. 16, the Reverend John Thomas Murphy of Musgravetown, Newfoundland. Leaving to mourn with cherished and loving memories son Ryan at Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB; daughter Erin at L.B. Pearson United Worid College, Victoria, BC: parents Stephen and Isabel Murphy, Ottawa; brother Douglas (Marie Kusters); nieces Christine and Julie; nephew Stephane, Ottawa; aunt Mary Murphy, Ottawa; aunt and uncle Ruth and Donald Parr, Guelph. John will also be sadly missed by family and friends across the oountry and by his Newfoundland family, Phyllis Philpott, Musgravetown; Marion and Jim Reader, Bloomfield; Lori Murphy, Lethbridge; and Lois, Jim, Valerie and Heather Flynn, Gander. He has touched the lives of many and his passing will be mourned by his many friends and neighbours, especially his congregation of Heritage United Church. Funeral service held Sat., Nov. 22, from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. A service of remembrance will be held in Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, on Sat., Nov. 29, 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manse Fund of Heritage United Church or to the Anniversary Scholarship Fund, c/o Heritage United Church.
