Passed Away On: 27/04/2011

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer at the Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, Everett Drodge of Little Hearts Ease, aged 76 years. Predeceased by first wife Selina of 51 years. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Marion of 4 years; his children Evangeline, Faye (Patti), Rick (Robert), Graham (Valerie), Peter (Rick), Kate (Junior), Eloise (Jamie) and Louise (Lee); thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; step-children Mel Whalen (Sheila), Kaye McCammon (Alex) and Randy Whalen; five step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; sisters Alma Whalen (Fred) and Florence Dodge (Clyde Russell); brother-in-law Eli Spurrell; close family friends Don & Vera Dawe and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service took place on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from the Salvation Army Citadel, Little Hearts Ease with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease. Mildred Brown
Passed Away On: 21/04/2011

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 21, 2011, Mildred (Linthorne) Brown, aged 81 years and 8 months. Predeceased by her parents William and Amelia Linthorne, sister Violet Butler and baby sisters Frances and Virtue Linthorne. Leaving to mourn her devoted husband of 59 years, Bennett Brown; son Ross; daughters: Sandra (Wade) Hiscock, and Rosalie (Tom) Lydiate; granddaughters: Shaunna Brown, Jahradd Williams, Julia and Jennifer Hiscock, Sophia and Katie Lydiate; brother Calvin (Daisy) Linthorne; sister-n-law Pearl Brown; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation took place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl from 7-9 p.m. on Friday and continued at Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista, from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. - 12 noon on Sunday. Funeral Service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011 from Memorial United Church, Bonavista. Interment followed at Lookout Cemetery. Predeceased by parents Malcolm and Sarah-Jane, brother Nelson and brother-in-law John. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Loretta (nee Peddle), sons Randy (Sylvia), Bruce (Marilyn), Rocky, daughters Carol (Gerry) and Diane, sisters Susie, Geneva (David), brother Alex (Selina), sister-in-law Velma and Aunt Mary Martin, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, and will be officiated by Rev. Jessie Broaders. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed away peacefully at the Redwater Health Care Center, Redwater, Alberta on April 29, 2011 Nathaniel Smith of Little Harbour East, NL. Left to mourn, with precious and loving memories are daughters: Joan Wilson (Richard), Rosella Cataldi, Sherry Temple (Rick), son: Norman Smith (Audrey). 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet (Harold) Rodway, Carry (Jack) Goss, brother, Tom Pike, along with many other relatives and friends. Nathaniel was predeceased by his loving wife Sarah, parents Alice and Nathaniel Smith, brothers Archie and John, sisters Gladys and Doris. Resting at the Anglican Church, Little Harbour East on Monday, May 9, 2011, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Robert Sweetland

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Sweetland, of Bonavista, announces his passing after a short battle with cancer on April 23rd. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife or 35 years Maxine and his children Dean and Stephen (Kelly). Bob will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren Bobbi, Dylan and Shayne. He is survived by his sister Barbara (Lawrence), several nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. A funeral service in memory of Bob was held on Tuesday, April 26th, at Christ Anglican Church in Bonavista with Reverend John Gillam officiating. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bob to the Children's Wish Foundation

Predeceased by son Maurice, daughter Doris, grandson Christopher, six brothers and six sisters. Left with fond and loving memories his wife of 60 years, Iris; daughters Gertie of Surrey, BC, Frances (Christopher), Winterbrook, Sylvia (Earl), Fort McMurray, AB and Daphne (Rick), Portland; son Calvin (Rhonda), Maple Ridge, BC; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn with loving memories her seven children Bruce (Eileen), Bert (Linda), Mary (Robert), June (Stephen), Nancy, Dean (Lorraine) and Todd (Natasha); her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters Margaret, Corner Brook and Naomi, Hants Harbour and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Salvation Army Citadel, Charlottetown. Funeral service took place on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from Salvation Army Citadel, Charlottetown with interment at Charlottetown Cemetery.

Predeceased by husband Charles; two grandsons; sons-in-law Horace Prince and Raymond White; daughter-in-law Miriam; two sisters and three brothers. Left with fond and loving memories daughters Clarice White and Anetha Prince; sons Alonzo (Isabelle), Herman, Boyd (Mary), Lloyd and Orrin (Ruby); 33 grandchildren; a large number of great grandchildren & great great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed away at the Health Sciences Center on Thursday, May 5, 2011 Reta Elliott, age 78 of Jamestown, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her husband Gordon Elliott, daughter Carol and son Keith, grandson Chad Wiseman, parents Absalom and Ann Matthews, sisters Ada Butler and Sarah Hancock. Left with fond and loving memories her children Rick (Pam), St. John's, Sharon (Wilbert) Howse of Bloomfield, Deborah (friend Pat) of St. John's, Rod (Elsie) of Mount Pearl and Anita (Ian) Crane of Corner Brook; grandchildren: Bradford, Jasmine, Adam, Ryan, Brittany, Kalynn, and Jared; one sister Mary Merzbacher of Pentanguishene, Ontario. At Reta's request cremation has taken place. Funeral service was held on Monday May 9, 2011 at St. James Anglican Church, Jamestown, with interment at St. James Anglican Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home for Reta's care during her past four years. In her memory donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Left with fond and loving memories his wife Nancy; daughter Emily, 5 years; son Johnny, 2 years; mother Bridie; grandmother Catherine Lynch; sister Cathy; brothers Billy (Geraldine), Tom (Sheila), Gerard (Geraldine) and Bob (Tracey); parents-in-law Robert and Sadie Parsons; brothers-in-law Dale (Allison) and Robert (Megan); and a large circle of family and friends. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his wife, Alice, son, Tom (Candice), daughter, Anne-Marie (Andrea); grandchildren, Deejai, Devan, Madison and Mckenna; sisters, Mary, Cecelia, Blanche (Austin); brother, Cecil (Maggie); son-in-law, Tyler; aunts, Alfreda Carberry and Blanche Lambert; brother-in-laws, Roy (Beverley), Wilfred (Cora) and Howard (Elaine); sister-in-laws, Eleanor Manual and Stella Lambert as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour, Random Island. The funeral service, officiated by Captain Reid Colbourne and Major Phyllis (Blundell) Colbourne, assisted by Majors Wayne and Rosemary Green, took place from the Salvation Army, Hickman's Harbour with interment following.
