HOLLOWAY, Winnifred - Passed away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Winnifred Holloway (nee Fry) in her 86th year. Predeceased by first husband, Jack Over, second husband, Albert Holloway and grandson, league. Always remembered by daughter, Joan (John King), Shoal Harbour; son, John (Carol), St. John's; grandchildren, Kerstin and John Over; great-grandson, Cody Regimbald; a large circle of nieces, nephews, family of the late Albert Holloway and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from Memorial United Church, Clarenville with interment at United Cemetery, Southern Bay.

SIMMONDS: We regret to announce the passing of Emily Simmonds, age 84, from Cannings Cove at the Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on April 15, 2008. Predeceased by parents, William and Annie Fitzgerald; husband, Reuben; sons, William and Robert; brothers, James, Llewellyn and Loyal; sisters, Georgina Quinton and Elizabeth Mesh. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her children, Iris (Jack Ricketts), Wallace (Naomi), Mary (Edward Matchem), Manuel (Louise), Ranee, Ann (Jack Greening); 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and also a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at the St. John the Divine Anglican Church, Cannings Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Robert Peddle, took place on Friday, April 18, 2008 with internment following. KNEE, Daisy - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Daisy Marguerite Knee of Jamestown, aged 71 years. Daisy, lovingly referred to by Hubert as "my Daisy" will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a kind, compassionate and caring lady who was a friend to all. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Effie; father, Eric of Lewisporte; brothers, Wilfred and wife, Helen of Shoal Harbour, Boyd and wife, Marilyn of Paradise, Kenny and girlfriend, Shirley Warrick of Fort Saskatchewan; three nieces and one nephew; aunts, Margaret Peddle of Bloomfield, Liza Skiffington of Bloomfield and uncle, Clyde Penney of Clarenville; stepsons, Kenneth Payne and wife, Judy of George's Brook, Wallace Payne and wife, Ruby of George's Brook, Terry Payne and wife, Grace of Harcourt, and Ralph Payne and wife, Muriel of Morley's Siding; stepdaughter, Florence Hampton and husband, Larry of Morley's Siding; 11 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; one great-nephew and one great-niece. HOBBS - Long time resident of Bunyan's Cove and family man, Gordan Levi Hobbs (son of Hezekiah Hobbs and Sarah Elizabeth Simmonds) at the age of 82 (husband of the late Martha Hobbs) passed away peacefully Tuesday May 6, at the Health Science Centre in St. John's. Gordon is survived by his three brothers, Frank, Calvin and George, also Charlie Hobbs (deceased); his children, Marion Hobbs, Lester Hobbs (wife, Janice), Lorraine Chatman (husband, Lyman) and Florence Avery (husband, Shawn); his grandchildren, Samantha, Collin, Deanne, Trevor, Juanita, Kevin, Joey and Dylan, and his eight great-grandchildren. We would like you to know that even though his passing has deeply affect­ed us all, our father will continue to Rant and Roar like a true Newfoundlander no matter where he is. He sits by his wife in heaven, with whom he had danced many a newfie jig_. A fisherman and gentleman in death and in life, and we say goodbye for now. STANLEY, VI - 76, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Longwood, FL. At long last, her soul took flight to the heavens to join her beloved husband and their two daughters in eternal rest. Vi was born, Marguerite Auchinleck, September 1,1931 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, and at the age of 12, was adopted by Alex and Marion Duffitt of Clarenville. After her marriage to Eddie (Edgar Walter Stanley, Jr.) the couple moved to Toronto and then in 1960 to Florida where they opened a full-service gas station in Winter Park and purchased a home in College Park. She was a member of the College Park United Methodist Church for 47 years. Vi will long be remembered sporting around College Park in her 1969 turquoise-colored Mustang, a Christmas present from her husband in 1968. She spent many years chauffeuring the neighbourhood kids back and forth to school and social events and later helped her friends and neighbours with errands and appointments. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie; two infant daughters, Marilyn and Denise; and her two sisters, Jessie Reid and Phyllis Lavergne. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne; son-in-law, Ed Mann; the joy of her life, her two grandsons, Cal Gaines of Tallahassee and Brian Gaines of Winter Garden; her brothers Jack and Gerald Duffitt, both of Newfoundland; many nieces and nephews, and her constant companion for the last few months, the family dog "Jack." Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with prayer and a butterfly release at 6:30 p.m., in The Winter Park Garden Club building at Mead Garden, 1300 S. Denning Drive, Winter Park, near Mills Ave. (17-92) and Orange Ave. For a map, go to www.meadgarden.org     Final interment will take place later in the summer in Clarenville, Newfoundland, Canada. No flowers, please. If you wish, a memorial donation can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org), or Hospice of the Comforter (hospiceofthecomforter.org).
