Bambury, Margaret Frances - Comfort fell peacefully upon Margaret on Monday April Monday, April 19, 2005, at Extendicare Kingston with loving family spirit all around her. A tower of strength and a source of pride to her sons Larry (Angela) Strong, Randy (Carmel) and Sheldon (Donna). A treasured sister to Eldred and Ben and their families and most dearly missed grandma to Fraser, Madison, Justin, Megan and A.J. Margaret's family would like to extend our thanks for the overwhelming support, sympathy and donations to the Parkinson's Society on her behalf. The volume of correspondence from near and far was a tribute to Margaret’s great capacity of love and to her cherished friendships. Peace at last.

 

Humby - Passed away peacefully at the Miller Centre in St. John’s on Friday, April 22, 2005, Willis Humby of Summerville, aged 84 years. Predeceased by parents and brother Norm. Left with fond and loving memories wife Cassie of 48 years; daughters Beverley Dunn (Edward) at Calgary, AB, Wendy McPherson (Chris) at Brampton, ON, and Karen Humby at St. Phillips; son Rick (Laurie) at Torbay; sisters Mary Cooke at Bishops Falls and Susie Murphy at Bishop’s Falls; brother Richard (Gladys) at Summerville; five grandchildren Leandra, Amber, Joshua, Stephanie and Kaitlyn; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral took place 2 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2005, at the Salvation Army Church in Lethbridge with interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Lethbridge. In his memory, flowers are accepted or a memorial to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic.

 

Oldford, Ford - Passed away peacefully at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on April 22, 2005, Ford Oldford, aged 87 years. Predeceased by his wife Leah in 1997; parents Leonard and Lily Oldford; sisters Marie Head (Roland), Myrtle Oldford and Linda Brown (Thomas); brothers-in-law Bert (Janie) Strong, Eugene Rose, Fred Drover and Kevin Murphy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Jackie (Ray) Hiscock, Clarenville; grandchildren Raylene (Nigel) at Gloucester, ON, Christopher (Renay) at Nepean, ON, and Kevin (Jennifer) at Gander; great-grandchildren Madison and Nathan; sisters Fern Rose at St. John’s; sister-in-law Flo Drover at Clarenville, Mae Murphy at Toronto, ON, and Louise (Rex) Sweetapple at Downsview, ON; and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral took place on Monday, April 25, 2005, from Memorial United Church in Clarenville, with interment at the Interdenominational Cemetery Clarenville. In his memory, donations may be made to the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

Walters It is with great sadness the family of the late John (Jack) Allen Walters, age 87, from Petley, announce his peacefully passing at the Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, on April 30, 2005. Predeceased by wife, Edith; brothers Wilson, Wallace and George; and sister Effie. Leaving to mourn with many fond memories are his sons, George (Stella) and James (Cavell); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Annie and Doris; and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the All Saints Anglican Church, Petley, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Eric and Judy Squires, took place on Wednesday, May 4, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

Robert James Chaulk December 24, 1921 - April 26, 2005: Passed away peacefully at Lakeside Homes, Gander, on Tuesday, April 26, Robert (James) Chaulk of Charlottetown in his 83rd year. Predeceased by parents, William and Alice; one brother and son-in-law, Stanley Tucker. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son, Victor (Violet) at Charlottetown; daughter, Kim at Charlottetown; brother, Sid (Mary); sisters, Annie (Boyd), Mabel (William) and Nina; grandchildren, Jamie, Perry, Jerome, Janaye and Jordon; great-grandchild, Hayley; and a large circle of family and friends. Captain Charlene Hillier officiated funeral service on April 28th from the Salvation Army Church, Charlottetown, with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hezekiah Penney, Clyde Penney, Danny Powell, Anthony Murphy, Lawrence Reid and Shawn Powell. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blundon’s Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour. “WE CARE”

Goodyear, Ross - Passed away peacefully at Caribou Memorial DVA Pavilion, St. John’s, on Friday, April 22, 2005, Ross Wesley Goodyear, WW11 Veteran, of Harcourt, aged 90 years. Predeceased by mother and father as well as brothers and sisters. Left with fond and loving memories his wife, Mary of 48 years; daughter, Mickie (Daphine) Hayward-Hunkin at Nipawin, Saskatchewan; and niece, Barbara McIntyre at Belfountain, Ontario. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Bethany United Church, Harcourt. Funeral service held on Monday, April 25, 2005, from Bethany United Church, Harcourt, with interment at Harcourt Cemetery. In his memory, a memorial fund to Bethany United Church, Harcourt.

 

Vardy: Passed away peacefully at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on April 30, 2005, Edmund Wilson Vardy, age 70, from Hickman’s Harbour. Predeceased by parents, Heman and Miriam and brother, Gilbert. Leaving to mourn are brothers, John (Annie), Ronald (Shirley) and Robert (Sol); sisters, Florence (A.J.), Sherrill, Lorraine (Lester) Pittman and Karen (J.J.) Harrison; and a large number of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy’s Funeral Home, Hickman’s Harbour. Funeral service, officiated by Mr. Austin March, took place from the United Church, Hickman’s Harbour, on Tuesday, May 3, with interment following.

Moss, Craig - Passed away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on April 22, 2005, Craig Moss of Musgravetown, aged 46 years. Predeceased by his father, William (1997) and father-in-law, Dave Brown (1998). Left with fond and loving memories his loving wife, Janet of 18 years; daughter, Jade; son, Jared; sister Jackie Frye (Derek) at Musgravetown; mother, Blanche Moss at Lethbridge; brother-in-law, Jim Brown (Sharon) at Musgravetown; mother-in-law, Rowena Brown at Musgraetown; nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Butt, Joan - Passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, April 28, 2005, Joan Butt of Britannia, aged 66 years. Coombs: Passed away peacefully at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on May 8, 2005, George William Coombs of Bloomfield, age 73 years. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Marion Coombs, and sister Cavell Windsor. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Nellie, of 43 years; daughters Suzanne (Steve) at Ottawa, Paulette (Edward) at Knights Cove; sons Todd (Marilyn) at Musgravetown and Philip (Lori) at Porp Rexton; grandchildren, Crystal (Michael), Kenneth, Rebecca, David and Ethan; brother Bert (Dinah) at Corner Brook; sisters, Betty (Sterling) at Lethbridge, Linda (Albert) at Lethbridge, Marg (Lee) at Lethbridge and Chris (Bob) at St. John’s; and other relatives and friends. McGrath, Aiden - Passed away suddenly at his home in Trinity, Trinity Bay, on Friday, May 6, 2005, Aiden McGrath, aged 75 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Jane; his brothers Jack, Owen, Pat, Joe and Edmund. Leaving to mourn his sister Margaret and Catherine at Trinity; sisters-in-law Bernadette at St. John’s and Maureen at Massachusetts; also nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. Rested at his home in Trinity. Funeral mass took place on Monday, May 9, 2005, from Holy Trinity Church with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Trinity.

 

Humby, Helen - Passed away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Aptil 25th, 2005, Helen Humby, of Summerville, aged 76. Leaving to mourn husband Richard Humby, daughter Rosalind Squires, son Wayde Humby, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters Lillian, Susie and Annie. Rested at Summerville United Church. Funeral service was held on Thursday, April 28, 2005, with interment at the United Church Cemetery, Summerville.

 

Philpott, Phyllis - Passed away suddenly on Friday, May 6, 2005, Phyllis Marie Philpott of Musgraetown in her 77th year. Predeceased by her husband Harvey and infant daughter Karen. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Marion (Jim Reader), Bloomfield, Lori Murphy (Paul O’Brien), Lethbridge, and Lois (Jim Flynn), Gander; grandchildren Ryan and Erin Murphy and Valerie and Heather Flynn; and a large circle of family and close friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Sunday, May 8, 2005, from St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Canning’s Cove, with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Musgravetown. In her memory flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

 

Dalton, Betty - Passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, Betty (Dalton) of Green’s Lake in her 67th year. Beloved wife of Harold Dalton. Dear mother of Arlene Dalton of Peterborough, Dan Dalton of Buckhorn and Glenn (Lyne) of Peterborough. Loving grandmother of Ashley, Kenny, Eric, Vanessa and Alexa. Sister of Eileen (Don Grant) of Peterborough, Victor (Lorraine) of Butts Pond, Newfoundland, Bill (Linda) of Oshawa, Jerry (Jocelyn) of Peterborough and Judy (George Rideout) of Little Catalina, Newfoundland. Friends were received at the Nisbett Funeral Home and Chapel, Peterborough, ON, on Friday, May 6, 2005. Funeral service was held from the Nisbett Chapel on Saturday, May 7, 2005, at 3 p.m. in celebration of Betty’s life. Memorial donations to the Princess Margaret Foundation would be appreciated. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons Bruce (Rhonda) at Canning’s Cove, Glenn (Carol) at Bloomfield, Eugene (Lisa) at Kelligrews and Jeff (Dawn) at Bloomfield; brothers Larry Blundon, Bond (Myra) Holloway, Boyd (Stella) Holloway and Len (Carol-Anne) Holloway; sisters Nellie (George) Combs and Loretta (Joe) Coles; nine grandchildren; mother-in-law Rosie Simmonds; sisters-in-law Joyce Holloway, Alma (Lewis) Hobbs and Ella (Winston) Penney; brothers-in-law Hubert (Pauline) Simmonds, Melvin (Betty) Simmonds and Carl Babstock. Avery - Passed away peacefully at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Saturday, May 14, 2005, William James Avery, aged 81 years, of Southport. Predeceased by his daughter Barbara (1950); brothers Chesley, Wilfred and Clarence; and sister Dorothy Tippett. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Myra of 57 years; daughters Elaine Stringer (Garfield) at Brampton, ON and Evelyn Avery at Clarenville; son Winston at Lethbridge, Bonavista Bay; grandchildren Melanie Stringer (Terry), Philip Churchill (Renee) and Lee Stringer (Tenille); great-grandchildren Lucas, Brooklyn and Liam; and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service held on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, from Bethany United Church, Southport, with interment at the Southport United Church Cemetery.

 

Laite: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of the late Nina Winnifred Laite, age 84, from Petley, at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on May 16, 2005. Leaving to mourn and thankful for her life are her only son Gordon (Lorraine); grandchildren Kerri (Ronnie) Parrott and Brian; great-grandchildren Kelly and Sheridan; brother-in-law Bruce and Inez Laite; sister-in-law Marjorie and Earl Pelley, Lorraine Laite and Phylis Ivany; nieces, nephews and other friends. Rested at Vardy’s Funeral Home, Hickman’s Harbour. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Glenn G. Jarvis, took place on Wednesday, May 18, from the United Church, Britannia, with interment following.

 

Smart, Frank Arnold - With a smile on his face and in his heart, Frank Smart went home to rest in Newfoundland in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Laura Pearl Smart. Loving father of Chris (Jim) McKinnon of Cornwall, Bea (Sandy) McLeod of Orillia, Bond (Bev) of Verona, Robert (Linda) of Oakville, Gloria (David) Ross of Perth Road, Gary (Linda) of Corner Brook, NL, Jody (John) Adams of Mississauga and Todd of Amherstview. Cherished grandfather to Lori (John), Tasha, Kerri Lee (Darren), David, Nicole (Pete), Christa, Amanda, Stacey (Pete), Corby, Christopher, Mitchell, Kevin (Melissa), Kayla, Brittany, Laura, Isaac, Kimberly, Lynnette and Lauren; and six great-grandchildren. Survived by siblings Isabel, Muriel (Tim), Dove, Bond (Rita) and Wilson. Predeceased by siblings Letty and Leslie. Their will be no wake or funeral as per his final wishes. A private family service will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made, in memory of, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank You.

Fleming - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of the late Clarence Fleming, age 76, of Spillars Cove, at Golden Heights Manor. Leaving to mourn wife Elizabeth, son Calvin, daughter-in-law Glenys, grandsons Christopher (Michelle) and Derek (Jennifer), great-granddaughter Abi, brothers Sam, Max and Wilson (Ann), and large circle of family and friends. Rested at Strathie’s Funeral Home. The funeral service took place at Anglican Christ Church May 26, 2005.

 

Stephenson - Passed away peacefully at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Janeway Children’s Health Centre, St. John’s, Monday, May 23, 2005, Bethany Ann Stephenson, age 3 weeks. Bethany was born on Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Leaving to mourn, but thankful for her short life with us, are parents Eric and Lorna at Clarenville; sister Carla; grandparents Alex and Jean Stephenson at Lethbridge and Lorne and Edna Matthews at Musgravetown; great-grandparents May Harvey at Sault Ste Marie, ON; Aunts Lynn Matthews`(Darren Wilkinson) at Cambridge, ON, and Rachel Dalton (Karl) at Clarenville; Uncle Harold Stephenson (Paulette); cousins Amy, Jessica, Leah and Hannah; and other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville, where the funeral service took place Wednesday, May 25, 2005, officated by Patrick Long of Oshawa, ON. (Eric’s uncle). Interment took place at the Gospel Hall Cemetery, Musgravetown. If so desired, donations can be made in memory of Bethany for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Janeway Children’s Health Centre.
