OLDFORD, Edna B. - Passed peacefully away at Greenwood Rest Home, Musgravetown, on Saturday, May  1, 2004, Edna B. Oldford, aged 91 years, of Musgravetown. Predeceased by husband, Eldon (1992); Sister Dora; brothers, Caywood; Garland, Chesley and Harold. Left with fond and loving memories sisters, Elsie White at Musgravetown and Joyce Coles at Steady Brook and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home Lethbridge. Funeral service took place on Tuesday, May 4,  2004,  from  the  Heritage  United  Church Musgravetown, with interment at the United Cemetery Musgravetown. In her memory, donations may be made to the Heritage United Church, MusgIavetown.

 

GREENING: It is with great sadness the family of the late Eveyln Greening, age 80, announce her sudden passing at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on May 2, 2004. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her husband, Allister; children, Sylvia Holloway-(Calvin), Glenys Adams (Alvin), Carol Power and Derek Greening (Tammlyn); brothers and sisters, George Penney (Bea), Rayrnond Penney (Evelyn), Chesley Penney (Bernice) and Margaret Wicks. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Paul Holloway, Patrica Moulton, Blair and Arlene Adams, Wade and Devon Power, Jordan and Danilee Greening; great-grandchildren, Jessica Holloway, Lucas Moulton and' Laura Adams; and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Alden's Anglican Church, Port Blandford, from where the funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Chuck Lockhart, took place on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, with Interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random island.

BALSOM, Maude - age 90, of Newport, Hants County. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Friday, April 16, 2004, at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor. A daugh­ter of the late Mark and Marion (Summers) Baker, Maude was born in Bishop Falls, Newfoundland, but resided most of her adult life in Clarenville, Newfoundland, until 1994, when she moved to Nova Scotia and resided in Newport. Wife of the late Roland Balsom for 63 years, mother to seven children. Maude is survived by Wilma Walters, Garnish; Glenda (William) Rodgers, St. Jones; Elaine (George) Cluett, Frenchman's Cove; Loren (Eileen) Clarenville; Vernon (Louise), Garnish; Murray, Clarenville; all of Newfoundland; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Butler, Halifax; Joyce Easton, Greenhill; Nellie Hunter, Labrador City. Predeceased by her husband, Roland William Balsom; daughter, Judy Balsom; brothers, Robert Pretty and Ellis Baker. Funeral serv­ice was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in the South Rawdon United Baptist Church. Burial in the United Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

BURSEY: Passed peacefully away, after a short illness, at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on May 4, 2004, Lawrence W Bursey, age 72. Leaving to mourn with many precious memories are his wife, Theresa; son, Dennis (Minnie): daughter, Bernice (Karl Hillier); grand­sons, Blair and Tyler; brother, Edgar (Alvina); sisters, Lily Kirkland and Elder (Charles Walker), nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the United Church, North West Brook, from where the funer­al service, officiated by Rev. Glenn Jarvis, took place on May 6, 2004, with interment following. Funeral arrange­ments entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

HOLLOWAY, Lindbergh - Passed away afler a long coura­geous battle with illness at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, Lindbergh Holloway of Port Blandford aged 71 years. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Clara Holloway and his brothers and sisters. Leaving to rnourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Merita of 49 years; son, Gary (Donna), Port Blandford; grandchildren, Tracy Greening (Terry), Coldbrook, NS, and Pamela Holloway, Port Blandford; one great-grandchild Gavin; brother-in-law, Tom Howe (Frances); sisters-in-law, Dawn Price (Wilson), Joyce Holloway and Ella Holloway; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Alton United Church, Port Blandford. Funeral service held on Thursday, May 13, 2004 from Alton United Church, Port Blandford, with inter­ment at United Church Cemetery, Port Blandford.

GARLAND, Leonard - Passed peacefully away at Dr G B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Saturday, May 15, 2004, Leonard Garland of Monroe, aged 83 years. Left with fond and loving memories his wife, Millicent of 60 years; daughters, Lillian Wiseman (Freeman) and Marie Toope (Garry), both at Shoal Harbour; sons, Alec (Goldie) at Labrador City and Art (Betty) at Mount Pearl; one sis­ter, Jessie Syvret of Montreal; eight grandchildren, Norma Boozan, Derrick Garland, Nancy Garland, Christopher Garland, Dana Mercer, Melissa Wiseman, Craig Toope and Trevor Toope; seven great-grand-children, Kristen Beozan, Cameron Boozan, Jordan Toope, Hayley Toope, Zachary Garland, Cody Garland and Emily Mercer; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at the United Church, Harcourt, with interment at the United Church Cemetery in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Unted Church Cemetery Fund, Monroe.

Someone very special has gone from our lives

RIDEOUT, Edith Cavell of Prince George went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2004, at the age of 75 years. Survived by daughters Helen (Bruce) Gabriel at Prince George, BC and Janet (Dave Ryder) Rideout at Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Brian and Allison Gabriel; sister Joan Faulkner at Botwood, NL; sister-in-law Maude Goulding at Gander, NL; several nieces and nephews in Newfoundland. Predeceased by her Mom and Dad (Rachel and William), sister Margaret and brother Allan. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Assman's Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held on Thursday, May 27, 2004, from College Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Sandford officiating. Interment followed at Pnnce George Cemetery. Funeral service under the direction of Assman's Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flow­ers, donations may be made to BC Heart and Stroke Foundation. Edith will be remembered for her teapot cozies and crossword puzzles the Englishl anguage and playing the piano.
