Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Sunday, February 19, 2017 Roland Slade of Arnold's Cove, aged 83 years. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Myrtle Slade; brother Clem Slade; great grandchild Kahlen. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Rita of 58 years; children Dale (Kathleen), Rick (Colleen), Holly Snook (Don), Lajuan Hollett (Mervin); grandchildren Christopher (Holly), Ricky (Terri-lynn), Megan (Scott), Mason, Taylor (Tiffany), Mackenzie; great grandchildren Georgia, Dayton, Addison, Benjamin, Destiny, Peyton; brothers Herman (Pic) (Doreen), Wayne (Linda); sisters Marge Mugford (Roy), Maude Reid (Winston), sister in law Violet Slade and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Arnold's Cove on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Funeral service took place at 2 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St. Michael's All Angels Anglican Church, Arnold's Cove. Interment to take place at a later date in Kingwell, P. Bay. In his memory donations may be made to St. Michael's All Angels Anglican Church, Arnold's Cove.

Bertha Cooper

Bertha Cooper
, aged 87 of Bonavista, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Februrary 23, 2017 at the Bonavista Hospital. Bertha was born in Bonavista on March 7, 1929 to Albert and Clara Butler. She was married to James Cooper for 60 years. Bertha worked at Eastern Health in Bonavista for many years. She enjoyed her family and friends, travelling with her two daughters and daily rides with them. Bertha is survived by her husband James, her two daughters Christine (Ralph), Delores (Fred), 4 grandchildren Lorne (Cynthia), Cathy (Greg), Connie (Keith) and Lori-Lee (Tyson), 5 great grandchildren Joshua, Jayden, Jolan, Emma-Lee, Lily-Anna, 2 step great grandchildren Justin, Jordan, and one sister Annie Reid and many nieces, nephews and family. Bertha was preceded in death by her brother Cecil, her three sisters Frances, Myra and Gertrude and her mother and father Clara and Albert Butler. Her family wishes to thank all doctors, nurses and staff at Clarenville and Bonavista hospitals and to everyone who helped us in any way over the past few weeks since she was very sick.

Passed peacefully away at his home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, March 2, 2017, Roy Smith of Hatchet Cove, aged 82 years. Predeceased by his wife Joan; sisters Belinda Smith and Ida Drover. Left with fond and loving memories his children Harold (Alice), Della (Dave Ivany), Michelle (Al Curtis), Roger (Kim Kelly), Kimberley (Dean White), Garrison, Tina (Rod Bushey) and Dennis (Kelly); grandchildren Danielle, Robyn, Jessica, Shane, Allison, Ashton, MacKenzie, Nathaneal, Joshua and Gavin; great grandchildren Dominic and Devan; step-grandchildren Dayna, Tammy, Kerri, Keith and Jeremy; special family Olive, Diane and Lorraine; sisters Gloria (George), Rachel (William-deceased), Eva (Patrick), Myra (Russell) and Alice (James); brothers Eliab (Hannah Jane-deceased) and William (Frances); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at St. Stephens Church, Hatchet Cove. Funeral service took place on Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Stephens Church, Hatchet Cove with interment at the United Cemetery, Hatchet Cove. In his memory, donations may be made to Daffodil Place, St. John's.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, February 26, 2017, Marie Cooper of Clarenville, aged 72 years. Predeceased by her husband Gordon; parents Maxwell and Anita; son-in-law Louis Melanson. Leaving to mourn her children Yvonne, Clifford (Wendy), Roger (Jody) and Donna (Richard); grandchildren Nick, Joanne, Gordon, Justin, Madison and Maxx; sisters Cecily (Darryl), Sheila (Pleeman), Louise and Delphine; brother Cecil (Suzanne) and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Clarenville.

Left with fond and loving memories his wife Linda of 43 years; sons Bradley (Lori) and Gavin (Kim); grandchildren Katie, Riley, Braden, Bailee and Brianna; sister Mary Lambert; brothers Lewis (Frances), Derrick, Earl (Arlene), Sterling (Edie); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Bethany United Church, Southport with interment at the Bethany United Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Elsie Louise Dewling, of Trouty, aged 87 years. Predeceased by husband Mark and daughters Marilyn (4 1/2 years) and Dianne. Left to mourn, son, Harry, Niagara Falls, daughter-in-law, Mary, Vancouver, sisters, Rosalind Coleridge, Trinity, Viola King, Shirley's Haven, Catalina, brother, Roy Janes (Genny) Elliston, nephews and nieces, cousins, friends and caregivers at Miraquinn Hilltop Manor, Hickman's Harbour. Resting at St. Matthew's Church, Trouty. Funeral to take place on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. Interment at Trouty Cemetery, Trouty. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to St. Matthews Church, Trouty.

Passed away suddenly at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, March 18, 2017, Yvonne Gordon of Clarenville, formerly of Harcourt, aged 80 years. Predeceased by her husband Maxwell, brothers Freddie and Captain Morley Stone and sister Una Stone. Left with fond and loving memories her daughter Carole Decker (Rex); grandchildren Grant and Andrew; sisters Cavelle Goodyear and Anne Stanley and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Memorial Service took place on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Fewer's Memorial Chapel, Clarenville. In her memory donations may be made to the Janeway Childrens Hospital or Clarenville Area SPCA.
