It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Julia Elizabeth Philpott, age 78, from Tickle Cove, at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on February 27, 2015. Predeceased by parents, Isaac and Julia Legge; siblings, Raymond, Brendan, Anthony, Nellie (Patrick), Theresa (Alvin), Mary Anne, and Lucy and 2 infant daughters. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories are her husband, James; children, Leona (John), Rhonda, Melinda (Ian) and Tina (Mike); grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, William, Keira and Allie; brothers, David (Betsy) and Gerald (Hilda); sister-in-law, Florence and many other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the St. Patrick's Nursing Home, St. John's on February 20, 2015, Jacob (Jake) Clarke, age 85, from Dunfield. Predeceased by parents, Alexander and Beatrice Clarke, best friend, Sarah Spurrell and brother William (Marjorie). Leaving to mourn are his sons, Alex (Tish) and Larry (Karen); grandchildren, Juanita (Charlie), Julian (Pam), Dustin (Bonnie), Nicole (Kent), Bridget (Michael); great grandchildren, Kyle, Dylan, Ayden, Gabriel and Isaac and many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband, Max; parents, Samuel and Minnie Whalen; sister, Jane; brothers: Ches, Ernest and Frank. Leaving to mourn with many fond and special memories, sons: Terry (Kathryn), St. John's, Craig (Paula), Lloydminster, Alberta, Doug (Darlene), Burnt Point, Brad (Margie), Old Perlican; daughters: Valerie, Old Perlican and Janice (Fabian), Clarenville, with whom she resided; grandchildren: Dwayne (Nicole), Adam, Bryan (Alicia), Ryan (Jessica), Ian, Danielle (Andrew), Max, Emily, Alex and Liam; great grandchildren: Kennedy, Lakelyn, Charlotte and Charlie; sisters, Delilah Belle Soper, Clarenville, and Joyce (Sam) Soper, Shoal Harbour; sisters in law, Mildred Whalen, North West Brook and Eva Best, Toronto, Ontario; special niece, Judy (Kent) Martin, Little Heart's Ease; as well as a number of other nieces, nephews extended family and circle of friends. (65): Treasured wife of Dave Legge of Clarenville NL. After battling lung cancer and then brain cancer, with strength and courage Betsy passed away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital. Betsy is survived by her husband Dave; sons Sid Reid, John (Susanne Reid), Barry Legge; daughters Barb Reid and Debbie (Phil Sheppard), Cheryl (Wayne Dick), and Lorie (Kevin Blayney) Grandchildren; Tyler, Annabelle, Russell, Kevin, Kayla, Johnny, Nikki, Justin, Alisha, Jason, Doug, Joey, Amanda, Katelyn, Matthew, Michael. Great grandchild Amarion. Sister Joanne (Alex Coffin) and brothers Bill Verheyne and Joe (Susan Verheyne), and her best friend of 50+ years Eileen Gosse. Predeceased by her mother, Matilda and father Peter Verheyen. Betsy formally of Calgary, Turner Valley AB, and Cambridge, Ontario. She was the mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always had a laughing, joking smile, and hugs to give. Betsy loved life; fishing, camping, the outdoors but most of all she loved people. He is mourned by his wife Verley; step daughters Tammy and Kim; step sons Morley and Kevin; and four grandchildren; mother Priscilla; brothers Gary (Marie), Ed (Doreen), Troy (Charmain), Rene (Candace); sisters Joan (Raymond), Norma (Floyd), Mona, Cindy (Rick), Lori (Pearce), Paula (Jim); nieces and nephews; and a large number of extended family and friends. Predeceased by her first husband Clarence (Barney) Barron (1995), sister Stella Boutcher (Llewellyn), her parents Malcolm and Louisa Slade. Left with fond and loving memories her husband Rev. Lloyd Collett of 15 years; daughters Valerie Barron Warren (Bob) of Arnold's Cove, Joanne Barron of Colombia; three step children, two grandsons Dakota and Cass; sisters Hilda Waine (Late Richard) of Brooklet, Georgia, Violet Slade (Late Clem) of Arnold's Cove, Lena Rose (Eric) of Arnold's Cove; brother Berkley Slade (Ettie) of Arnold's Cove and a large number of sisters and brothers in law, family and friends. Hazen Clouter

HAZEN CLOUTER (1927 - 2015)
Passed away peacefully in the presence of his daughter on March 7, 2015 at Caribou Memorial Veteran's Pavilion in St. John's, NL at age 87. Predeceased by brother, Frazer and half-sisters Cordelia & Selma Ford. Survived by Flora (nee Noseworthy) wife of 59 years, children Paul (Darlene), Valerie (Roger) and Bill (Danielle); nine Grandchildren Melissa, Nadine, Sheldon, Shane, Kyla, Alex, Sabreena, Nathalie and Nathan and one Great Grandson Mason. With a steadfast sense of duty, Hazen was a decorated veteran with an extensive military service. He was recognized for his service with the Merchant Marines by the Norwegian Government during WWII and served in the Army with Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps during the Korean War. After service to his country abroad he returned home and served his community acting as the First Fire Chief for the Clarenville Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his 36 years of employment with the Department of Highways as a machinist, he continued with part time military service with the Canadian Forces as a Canadian Ranger. Ever supportive toward fellow veterans and with utmost respect for those still serving, he was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Visitation held at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place at the Clarenville United Church on Marine Drive Wednesday 11 March 2015. Hazen was a strong supporter of the Canadian Armed Forces and a lover of all animals, therefore the family would appreciate any donations be sent to the charity "Paws Fur Thought". They match military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) victims with service dogs to improve their quality of life and ability to function in society. Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, March 16, 2015, Alex Piercey of Garden Cove, formerly of Woody Island, aged 84 years. Predeceased by daughter Shirley and brother Chesley. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Addie of 63 years; daughters Edwina, Greta and Leona; grandchildren Carmon, Elvis, Terry, Ernest, Julie, Tina, Karen and Holly; great grandchildren Emily, Riley, Alexis and Natasha; sister Greta (Gerald Dawe); brother-in-law Clarence Lockyer; sister-in-law Elsie Piercey; and a large circle of family and friends. Left with fond and loving memories her children Tina Mackey, Lethbridge , Peggy Mackey (Chad), Calgary, AB, Tammi Mackey-Little, Saint John, NB, Cynthia Stagg (Roger), Port Hardy, BC and Ron Mackey (Louise), St. Catharines, ON; step-son Scott Vokey; grandchildren Tiffany, Kamran, Amber, Gillian, Felicia, Angelica, Ryder, Hunter, Dylan and Denim; sister Hilda Chaulk (Wallace), Little Catalina; nieces Roxanne Kelly and Linda Kelly; nephews Rudy Kelly and Christopher Kelly; and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by husband Clyde; son Ronald; brothers Jack, Victor and George Goodyear; sisters Irene Blundon, Laura French and Blanche Blundon; grandson Harvey Adams; great grandson Zachary Strong; great granddaughters Denika Adams and Hayley Adams. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters Ethena Pitts (Oliver), Canning's Cove, Phyllis (late George Strong), Shoal Harbour and Geraldine Mercer (Gordon), Sherwood Park, AB; sons Lindsay (Daphne), William (Arlene) and Austin (Carol), all of Shoal Harbour; daughter-in-law Wendy Adams, Cochrane, AB; 26 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends.
