Passed Away On: 25/02/2011

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, Barry G. Maye of Monkstown aged 51 years. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Hattie, brother Donald and buddy Jason Maye. Left with fond and loving memories his brothers, Gerald (Gladys), Chris (Lillian) Scott (Cindy), Betty (Wayne Dunphy), Phyllis (Wayne Masters); sister-in-law Daphne Maye, nieces and nephews, special cousins Lisa and Craig, good friend Cathy and a large number of relatives and friends. Remains rested at the Salvation Army Citadel, Monkstown. Funeral took place on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Monkstown. Cremation has taken place. In his memory, donations accepted to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of ones

Harold Bowles
Passed Away On: 06/02/2011

Passed peacefully away on February 6th, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, Harold Bowles of Catalina, NL, aged 62 years. Leaving to cherish his fond loving memories is his wife of 36 years, Georgina; two sons: Harold (Mary) and Sheldon (Nancy); and daughter, Christina. Greatly loved and dearly missed by his three granddaughters: Emily, Kiana, and Hannah. Also left to mourn are his brothers: Sandy (Irene) and Guy (Barbie); his sisters: Barbara (Thomas) and Frances (Michael); mother- in-law, Corella Strickland; brother-in-laws: Earl (Shelia), Wayne (Kimberley); sister-in- laws: Olive, Linda, and Sherry (Steve); ten nieces; nine nephews; and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Eric and Martha Jane Bowles; two sisters: Mildred and Paulette; father-in-law, Ernest Strickland; four brother-in-laws: Brian, Donald, Danny and Don; and niece Donna. Visitations were held in Catalina and Ramea. Funeral took place at St. Boniface Anglican Church in Ramea on February 11, 2011, with Rev. Maryrose Colbourne officiating.

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, Eldred Lambert of Southport, Trinity Bay, aged 75 years. Predeceased by parents Jane and Henry Lambert; brother William and sister Blanche. Leaving to mourn his passing are wife Enid (Dawe); sons Henry (Paulette), Lloyd (Brenda); grandchildren Janine and Cassandra; great grandson Logan, Wayne (Denise) and granddaughter Chelsea, Glen (Sandy), grandchildren Samantha and Tiffany; brothers Gordon (Ivy) and Lawrence (Nancy); sisters Mildred Smith (late Issac), Edith (Max Lambert) and Joyce (Jim Dean); and a large circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 8:30 p.m. William Cecil Jacobs at the age of 95 years. William was the son of John and Gertrude Jacobs of Little Hearts Ease, Trinity Bay. He was predeceased by his grandson Richard King, brothers Walter and Lindsey, sisters Susie and Katy. He is survived by daughters: Judy, Diane and Beverley and their mother Verna (Drodge); grandchildren: John MacCallum, Alison Barrett, Nicole Williams, Kathleen Murray and Susan King; great-grandchildren: Calvin and Solomon Barrett, Jack MacCallum, Benjamin Herriott, Abigal and Molly Williams, Jamie, Katy and Liam King. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. A service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations to the SPCA gratefully accepted. A very sincere thank you to the wonderful staff of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital and staff at Deer Lake Foodland especially the bakery sisters Glennis William and Lorenda Cross and also friends Ivan Pittman and Bernard Schwartz. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving sister at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at the age of 73 years 11 months, William John Rose formerly of Georgetown, Brigus. Predeceased by his parents, Charlie Rose, 1959, mother Catherine (Rose) Barron, 2007, stepfather John Barron, 1985. He leaves to mourn his ex wife Betty whom he stayed friends with during the years, his three children, sons Dwayne (Joann), Burton. N.B., Shawn (Sharon), Calgary, daughter Debbie (Randy) Wheeler, Alberta, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews, brother Charles (Diann) with whom he resided, Bancroft, On., Allan (Muriel) Gander, NL, his sister Louise (Raymond deceased) Lethbridge, NL. whom he came to spend the holidays with. Cremation has taken place. Funeral later at the U.C. Cemetery, Georgetown, Brigus.

Passed peacefully away with his daughters at his side on Friday, March 4th, 2011 at the Pentecostal Senior's Home Clarke's Beach, William J. Northover, age 81 years. Predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Norma Joan (Ash), and his second wife Blanche (Vivian). Left behind are his five daughters; Heather Northover, Valerie Northover, Debbie Northover, Sharon Coombs (Vince) and Michelle Northover. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, Liam Reaney, Kristina Carroll, Jeffrey and Rodney Stafford, Shawn and Pamela O'Neill, Melanie, Dylan and Devin Porter as well as three great-grandchildren Zakary Snow, Brianna Connolly and Ellyana Stafford. Predeceased by his brother George (Joan) and his sister Evelyn Oliver. Also leaving to mourn brother Bob (Ruby), sisters Shirley Thompson (Dave), Mary Northover and Gloria Northover-Brown (Craig), sisters-in-law Ada Vey and Madeline Dewling (Norman), and a large circle of friends and relatives. Hedley Lorne "Ed" Penney,
77, New Glasgow, formerly of Bloomfield, Nfld., passed away peacefully Friday, March 18, 2011 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Bloomfield, he was a son of the late Edward Robert and Delilah Elizabeth (Oldford) Penney. He was a member of Musgravetown United Church, Newfoundland. In earlier years, Ed had been employed as a cook with A & D Company and Bowater Company. Prior to retirement due to ill health, he had been a flagman with Eastern Road Builders. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and animals. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Verlie May (Kean), New Glasgow; daughters, Kay Penney (Gerald Skiffington), White Court, Alta; Donna (Stephen) Forbes, New Glasgow; son, Dale Penney (Fluvia Bello), Fort McMurray, Alta; grandchildren, Devin and Ashlee Penney, Sydney Forbes; sisters, Anita Chaffey, Joyce (Walter) Day, Musgravetown, Nfld.; brothers, Marvin (Mary) Penney, Bloomfield, Nfld.; Bob (Winnie) Penney, Botwood, Nfld.; brother-in-law, Winston (Donna) Kean, Burlington, Ont; numerous nieces, nephews , cousins and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Louise Coles, Myrtice Martin; brother, Milton Penney and brother-in-law, Dalman Chaffey. Funeral service was held on March 26, from P & K MacDonald Funeral Home, chapel, New Glasgow with Gordon Spurrell officiating.
