READER, Ross: Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Ross Reader of Bloomfield, aged 79 years. Predeceased by parents Bramwell and Jessie Reader; sister Dove Holloway. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Florence of 54 years; sons Dennis (Jennette) of Bloomfield, Bob of Labrador City; brother Oliver (Rosalind) of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Dennette, Shane, Shawna; one great-grandchild, Jessie and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2007 from the Islandview Citadel, Musgravetown with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgravetown.

BEST, Vera: It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Vera Best, age 80, from George's Brook, at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on February 21, 2007. Predeceased by husband Charlie. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her children: Eddie (Jenny), Nellie (Eric), Barbara (Roy), Charles (Judy), Christine (Jim), Annie (Eddie), Mabel (Jim), Alex (Darlene), Wayne, Linda (John), and Charlotte (Mark); stepchildren: Kittie (Erwin), Bill (Jean), Cec (Alice), Joyce (Harold), Joan (Mark), Alma, Melvin (Catherine), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters and other relatives and friends. Rested at the United Church in George's Brook from where the funeral service, officiated by Reverend Bob Mercer, took place on Saturday, February 24th with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

COLES, (nee Andrews) Marcella - Passed away at G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, March 2, 2007, Marcella Coles (nee Andrews) in her 83rd year. Predeceased by husband A.W. (Bill), brothers Zebeedee and Chesley, sisters Ella Norman, Josie Gibbons and Dorie March. Survived by brother Baxter Andrews (Bernice) of Lumsden; brother-in-law Walter March of Corner Brook; eight nieces and five nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista. Internment at United Church Cemetery, Elliston. Donations may be made to the Elliston United Church.

HISCOCK, Harrison (1923-2007): Passed away peacefully at Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, March 3, 2007, age 83 years, Harrison Hiscock of Little Heart's Ease; formerly of St. Jones Without. Predeceased by parents, Robert and Sara Anne Hiscock; brother Hayward, sister Alice Drodge; brothers-in-law Simeon Drodge and William Jacobs. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; his nephew Lawrence Drodge and wife Beatrice, (with whom he resided for 34 years); two special great-nieces Madeline Smith and Ashley Drodge; his sister Marian Jacobs; brother Archibald and sister-in-law Lucy Jane Hiscock. Also, leaving to mourn, six nieces and 11 nephews, as well as, a number of great-nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at the Salvation Army Church in Little Heart's Ease. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at Little Heart's Ease. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

PENNEY, Samuel John: Passed peacefully away after a short illness on March 9, 2007 at the Dr. G.B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville; Samuel John Penney of Hickman's Harbour in his 77th year. Leaving to mourn wife, Elsie; sisters, Lilly McCann, Edna Ivany (Reg), Dorothy Senior (George), Ivy Ivany; brothers, George (Myrtle), Charles (Rita) and Ellsworth; also a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins and his many friends at Miraquinn Hilltop Manor, Hickman's Harbour. Rested at Random Island Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 13 from the United Church, Hickman's Harbour with interment in the United Church Cemetery, Hickman's Harbour. Donations in his memory may be made to the United Church Cemetery Fund, Hickman's Harbour.

PIERCEY, W. Austin:
Passed peacefully away at Bonavista Hospital after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer, W. Austin Piercey of Port Rexton on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Predeceased by his father, John R. (1998) and infant great­grandchildren, Caleb Myles and Madison Lynn Cooper (2006), Toronto. Leaving to mourn; mother, Phyllis Piercey; wife, Patsy (nee Norman); son, Keith (Robbi); daughter, Cathy (Brian); two grandchildren, Sheldon (Becky), Leon, and their father, Clayton Cooper; sisters, Yvonne Stagg (Warren deceased), Donna Haynes (Roy) and Marilyn Miller (Brian); special nephew, Darrell Piercey (Pauline); brothers-in-law, Graham Norman, Lewisporte and Jack Spencer, Mexico; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral service held at Christ Church, Port Rexton on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Port Rexton. MAIDMENT, Alma - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, Alma Maidment of Shoal Harbour, aged 88 years. Predeceased by husband, Bertram, son-in-law, Clyde Wells, three infant sisters and infant grandson, Randy Greening Jr. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters, Marilyn (Leland Maier), Redcliffe, AB, Linda Wells, Milton, Daphne (Lloyd Wells), Shoal Harbour, Alvina (Ernest Simmons), Robinson's Bight, Effie (Randy Greening), Shoal Harbour and Madeline (David Cooper), Clarenville; sons, Melvin (Marion), Milton and Andrew, Shoal Harbour; brother, Frederick Vokey (Mildred), Shoal Harbour; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Friday, March 16, 2007 from Shoal Harbour United Church with interment at United Cemetery, Church Road. CURL, Vera J. (Quinton): It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear loved one under the loving care of her husband. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Hazel Quinton. Leaving to mourn with many cherished and loving memories her husband of 49 years, Hollis; daughter, Kathy Butt (Curtis) of St. John's; son, Paul (Lori) of Toronto, ON; sisters, Sandra Becker (Juergen) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joan Clifton (Gene) of Wilmington, NC, Donna Pettie (Elson) of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Karl Quinton (Dallas) of Princeton; grandchildren, Shanna Bentley (Keith), Sacha Daniels (Mike); great-grandchild, Chanelle Daniels also many nieces and nephews along with many other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 12, 2007, from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Shoal Harbour. In her memory donations may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.

BAILEY, Graham: On March 11, 2007, Mr. Graham Bailey of Two Hills, Alberta, passed away at the age of 67 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Caylee of 38 years; two sons and one daughter, Kerry Ann Bailey (Randy Wiseman) of Edmonton, AB, Brandon of Onoway, AB and Sean (Leighann Grossman) of Edmonton, AB; four grandchildren, Sara, Tyler, Taylor and Ethan; two sisters, Geraldine Bailey of Port Rexton, Newfoundland and Muriel Grove of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Laura Bailey of Temagami, Ontario and Dorothy Bailey of St. John's, Newfoundland. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and one sister, Roy, Jack, Ruby and Gordon. A Memorial Service was held Friday, March 16 at 3:30 p.m. at the Two Hills United Church. Reverend Dawn Herman officiated. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice c/o Box 42, St. Paul, AB TOA SAO.

SAINT, Rex - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville after a short illness on Monday, March 19, 2007, Rex Saint of Musgravetown in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife Winnifred of 63 years, his parents, brother, one great-granddaughter and son-in-law. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters Doreen Stryde (Maxwell) and Ruby Power (Tyrone-deceased); son Clayton (Joyce); grandchildren Kimberly, Penny, Jayme, Sean and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Lucas and Marcus; sisters-in-law Barbara Saint, Elsie Chaulk and Sybil Blackmore and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Power's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service was held Thursday, March 22, 2007 from Heritage United Church, Musgravetown with interment at United Church Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital or Heritage United Church, Musgravetown.

FOWLOW, Mabel of Dunfield, who passed away peacefully at G.B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in her 50th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her arother Vincent and her mother-in-law Leah Fowlow. Leaving to nourn her loving husband, Ernest who sat by her side through it all; her beloved poodle Shylo; her parents Cyril and Gertie Woolridge; sister-in-law Gertrude Woolridge; nephews Morris Wanda), Eugene and Kenneth (Lisa); niece Beverley (Ned); great-nephews Eric and Justin; great-niece Tara-Lee; father-in-law Robert Fowlow (Geraldine), Trinity East; brothers-in-law Calvin (Audrey), Freeman (Doreen); sisters-in-law Ruby Cooper (Fred), Gloria Noonan (Aidan), Pat Anthony (Lem); also saving to mourn, beloved god-children and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home. Mabel was a very loving, caring and generous person who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

VEY, Alfred Lester (July 13, 1939-March 8, 2007) - Passed peacefully away at Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, N.S. on Thursday, March 8, 2007, Lester Vey of Hillview, NL, aged 67 years. Predeceased by father Kenneth Vey, mother Mildred Vey-Crocker (nee-Stoyles), sister Lovie and husband Kenneth Hastings. Leaving to mourn partner, Bertha Lunn; daughters Lovie (Brian), Debbie (Clyde); sons Scott, Duane (Heather); brothers Chester (Jessie), Everett (Norma), Herbert (Agnes), Hughie (Barb), Clyde (Joy), Sam Martin (Elaine); sisters Marg (Alex), Bea, Marilyn (John), Dolores (Ralph); along with seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service held on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Grace United Church, Hillview. Donations may be made to the Grace United Church in his memory.

TOOPE, Selwyn - Passed away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, Selwyn John Toope of Shoal Harbour, aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents Enurchus and Una Toope and sister Georgina. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Shirley; daughters Sharon (Dennis Sceviour), Sheila (Michael Greening) and Holly; son John (Joanne); sisters Brenda (John Vantent) and Linda (Warren Lambert); brothers Warrick (Naomi), Gilbert (Madalyn) and Garry (Marie); grandchildren Krista, Felicia, Courtney and Natasha and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held Saturday, March 24, 2007 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery.

MILLER, Robert -- Passed suddenly away in New Bonaventure on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Robert Miller of New Bonaventure aged 52 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Juanita Miller of 30 years; daughters Amanda Hookey (Donald Jason) of Edmonton, AB and Charlene Locke (Roy) of New Bonaventure, NL; son Justin (Deirdre) of Dartmouth, NS; sister Doreen Seaward (Dan) of Clarenville, NL; brother Gerald (Shirley) of New Bonaventure, NL; four grandchildren Dominique, Olivia, Jillian and Dylan and a large number of relatives and friends. Memorial Service took place on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, New Bonaventure with interment at Anglican Cemetery in Port Rexton.

GILES, Kevin - Passed away suddenly at Clarenville on Monday, March 19, 2007, Kevin Giles of Clarenville, formerly of Goobies, aged 61 years. Predeceased by mother and father Mary and Walter Giles. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Linda; children Jeff Giles (Dena), Kim Norman (Brian), Lucretia Ford (Bradley Brown) and Lisa Soper (Dionne); sister Phyllis Crewe (George); brothers Joe Giles (Betty Hart), Reginald Giles (Lorraine), Roland Giles (Edna) and Randy Giles; grandson Cole Norman; the Ford and Francis families, other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Friday, March 23, 2007 from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery.
