Watton - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Friday 24, 2006, Walter William Watton, age 83, from Trinity East. Predeceased by his wife, Irene. Leaving to mourn are his children, Chesley, Lindburgh (Barbara), Mackenzie, Gary (Valerie) and Julia (Keith Bailey); brothers, Stanley (Mildred), Roy (June) and Vincent; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and other relatives and friends. Rested at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Trinity East, from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. R. Peddle, took place on February 27, 2006, with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

Gosse, Doris (nee Ash) - Passed peacefully away on February 25, 2006 at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Doris Gosse of Gander in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1997; parents, Lewellyn and Jenny Ash; and her brother Hedley Ash. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughters, Helen (Glen Goobie) of Gander and Patsy (Leonard Stratton) of Clarenville; grandchildren, Heather Fowlow (Robert), Chad Goobie (Meghan Carew), Allan Smith and Brian Smith; step-grandchildren, Alison Stratton and Christopher Stratton; sister, Hazel (Willis Regular); brother Walter Ash and sister-in-law Beatrice Ash and other relatives and friends. Whalen, James (1945-2006) - Passed peacefully away at his residence on February 25, 2006, James Whalen of Sweet Bay in his 60th year. Predeceased by parents, William and Mary; brothers, Raymond, Gerald, Joseph and Daniel. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, sisters, Mary (Boyd) at Princeton, Theresa (Fred) at Labrador City and Madeline (Cyril) at Gander; brothers, William (Mary Ellen) at Sweet Bay; Ronald at Sweet Bay and Leo (Leona) at Badger; plus a large circle of family and friends. Father Hearn officiated funeral mass on February 28, 2006, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Sweet Bay, with interment following at the RC Cemetery, Sweet Bay. Pallbearers were, Eddie O’Neil, Gerard Maloney, Felix Dooley, Matt Maloney, John O’Neil and Jerry Dooley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blundon’s Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

Greening, Belcher - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G, B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Monday, February 27, 2006, Belcher Greening of Musgravetown, aged 88 years. Predeceased by his wife, Drucella, and daughter, Loretta Waye. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons, Larry (Yvonne), Musgravetown, and Rick (Debbie), Hodge’s Cove; grandchildren, Darrell, Lori, Lisa, Tina and Corey; great-granddaughter, Lauryn; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by brother, Herbert, sister, Nellie; ans infant son, Gordon. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Elizabeth Green, of 63 years; daughter, Violet Green (Lee), Clarenville; son David (Judy), Clarenville; grandchildren, Tracey Soper (Murley), Kurt Green (Stephanie) and Corey Green; great-granddaughter, Jade Soper; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held Sunday, February 26, 2006, from Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville, with interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery. Stowe, Robert - Passed  peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sunday, February 26, 2006, Robert Stowe of Clarenville, aged 67 years. Predeceased by his father, John, and mother, Nora, brothers, Douglas and Reg. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sisters, Phyllis Baggs (Chesley) and Joan Balsom (Ray), Mount Pearl; brother, Jerry (Edie), Hamilton, ON; very close nieces and nephews; and a large number of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at Fewer’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Memorial service held Wednesday, March 1, 2006, from Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville. In his memory donations may be made to Salvation Army, Clarenville, or Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

 

Drover, Robert Stewart (Bob) - Passed peacefully away on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, NL. Predeceased by parents, Albert and Kate; son, Scottie; sisters, Joyce and Grace (Frank Nugent); and infant brother, Marmaduke. Leaving to mourn his loving wife and best friend, Glenda; daughter, Roberta (Bobbi) and Perry Ashley; son, Derek and Shanna; daughter-in-law, Sandra; sisters, Amelie (Millie) and Bill Edwards, Amy and Bill Graves; brother, Rennie and Jean; brother-in-law, Frank Coles; sister-in-law, Shelia and Dan Touhey (New York); brothers-in-law, Ken (Jean) Edwards (Nova Scotia) and Robert (Bob) and Clara Edwards (New Brunswick); special grandchildren, Benjamin (Kelly) and Julie (Paul) and pappy’s little man, Dylan; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Rosalyn, Ed, Joshua and Heather Blackwood. Bob retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 25 years serving his country overseas in Cyprus, Egypt and Germany, as well as several Canadian Provinces. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Masonic Lodge. Remains rested at St Andrew’s Church, Sunnyside, Trinity Bay, NL, from where the funeral took place on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Sunnyside, Trinity Bay, NL. or the Discovery Health Foundation, Clarenville, NL.

Hollohan, Brendan - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross, Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, aged 67 years. Predeceased by parents, James and Julia; brother, Robert; and sister, Margaret. Leaving to mourn his companion, Eileen Curl; daughter, Karen (Derek Lebunbon); son, Kenneth (Patricia); grandson, Ryan; brother, Thomas (Vera); sisters, Angela Brennan, Dorothy Walsh (Frank King), Cecilia (Bill Nolan), Letitia (Felix Philpott) and Carmel (John Rothwell); sister-in-law, Daisy; aunts, Daisy and Marion Hollohan; and a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at a later date with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Summerville.

 

Smith, Edward - Passed away at Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, Edward Smith of Shoal Harbour, aged 62 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons, Carl (Sandra) at Port Aux Basques, Craig (Joanne) at Lethbridge and Todd (Rose) at Milton; brothers, Lawrence, John, Russell, Herb and Clyde all at Hare Bay and Blair at Toronto; five grandsons; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Blundell, Edna Goldwyn (nee Penney) - Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 5, 2006, in her 57th year after a long battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Mary; brothers, Lester, Montgomery, Herbert and Stanley; sisters, Malvina (Pynn) and Ruby; daughter, Gale (Green); grandson, Brandon (Green); nieces, Marie and Beverly; nephews, Gary (Pynn) and John; sisters-in-law, Lettie and Reta; and brother-in-law, Reginald (Wheeler). Predeceased by parents, George and Marcia Cole; husband, Rance (1970); brother, Garland Cole; and grandson, Jesse Elliott. Lovingly remembered by daughter, Marie; sons, Reg (Sharon) at Pouch Cove, Tony (Annette) at Mount Pearl, Earl (Della) at Boat Harbour West and Alvin (Kim) at Mount Pearl; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Rance Cole (Hazel) and George Cole (Cecelia); sisters, Rosie Cole and Laura Hayward; special aunt, Florrie Cole; and numerous other relatives and friends. Peddle, John - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Saturday, March 11, 2006, John Peddle of Little Hearts Ease, aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents, Gillis and Priscillia. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his common law wife, Rose, of 22 years; daughter, Mirandra; sisters, Zelda Vivian (Lenvoll), Frances Whalen (Norman) and Beverly Prias (Robert); brothers, Allan (Winnie), Wesley (Christine), Willie, Lenvall (Karen) and Lawton (Colleen); and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, from Salvation Army Citadel, Little Hearts Ease, with interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.

 

Rev. A. George Moore, B.A., B.D., S.T.M., Doctoris Divinitatis (honoris causa), died on March 15th at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, despite the best of care, in the 93rd year of his life, in the 64th year of his ministry and in the 60th year of his marriage. Survived by wife, Jean, and sons, David (Janet) and John (Keisha); grandchildren, Linda (Drew), Amber, Nick; as well as Niasha and his beautiful great-granddaughter, Denver. A private funeral held in Ottawa. George’s memorial service will be held at St. John’s United Church, 98 Aurora Avenue, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, on may 6th at 2 p.m Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s United Church (514) 697-6459. Lambert, William - Passed peacefully away at Hilltop Manor, Arnold’s Cove, on Saturday 11, 2006, William Lambert of Southport, aged 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his sisters, Mildred (Isaac) at Southport and Joyce (Jim) at Portland; brothers, Eldred (Enid) at Seal Cove, Gordon (Ivy) at Gooseberry Cove and Lawrence (Nancy) at Ontario; and a large number of relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters, Matilda Price (Gordon) at Little Hearts Ease, Joan Stringer (Bill) at Little Hearts Ease and Selina Stringer (Ron) at Little Hearts Ease; son, Nathan (Florence) at Little Hearts Ease; brother, Harry; twenty-two grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. N. Chatman from St Mary’s Anglican Church, Hodge’s Cove.
