Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G .B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on May 26, 2013, Edmund John Spurrell, age 83 from Queen's Cove. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, sister, son, Craig and son-in-law, Desmond. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Faye; children, Sandra Little, Vera (Al) Lambert, Brian (Joan), Diane (Marvin) Best, and Rodney; grandchildren, Alex (Brittany) Spurrell, Jennifer Spurrell, Jillian Spurrell, Jonathan Lambert, Christine Goobie, Natasha Best and Kyle Best; great grandchildren, Landon Etherington and Alexander Goobie; brother, Andrew (Phyllis- deceased) Smith and a large circle of family and friends. The family of the late Ronald Joseph Lane, age 65, from Tickle Cove, regrets to announce his peaceful passing on May 31, 2013, at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville. Predeceased by his wife, Barbara. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons, Jimmy (Marilyn), Len, Derek (Karen), Terry and Jeff (Char) and grandchildren, Stephanie, Melissa, Matthew, Mackenzie and Sean; special companion, Blanche and a large circle of other family and friends. Rested at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Open Hall from where the funeral service, officiated by Father Brian Colbourne, took place on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 with interment following at the St. Michaels and All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Red Cliff. Passed away peacefully at home in Open Hall, JAMES D. BARKER , aged 91; retired businessman and taxi operator. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Daisy (Fry); daughters Patricia and Sheila, sons Jim (Jane) Rick (Frances) Lou (Patsy); grandchildren Ashley, Joshua, Kimberly, Cody and Emily; brother-in-law Nelson Fry, sister-in-law Stella Fry; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Sacred Heart RC Church Open Hall, with funeral service Saturday, June 8 at 2pm. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Open Hall. Flowers gratefully accepted.

Left with fond and loving memories her husband Robert of 61 years; sons Lloyd (Linda), Austin (Regina), Roy (Dale) and Rodger; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Frances (Bill); brothers-in-law John (Dorothy) and Lawrence (Myrna); and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Long Beach.

Susie Jane Bowen

Passed on: June 7th, 2013

It is with great sadness the family of SUSIE JANE BOWEN announce her passing on June 7th, 2013. She died at her home in Jefferson Pines, in the Annapolis Valley, a place she loved for 38 years. Born in Winter Brook NL on the 16th of Dec. 1941, she was the second of five children born to the late Manuel and Ada (Wells) Butt. Susie was a proud and respected nurse. She began her career in St Johns NL and extended it across Canada, finishing her career at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS. Susie had two spiritual places, one was her flower gardens, which she tended with loving care, the other was her Grandmother Wells` home in a little cove in Jamestown, NL. Susie spent her summers sailing the south shore of NS with Eli. The many evenings spent with friends at the yacht club in LaHave with a glass of wine or two were always very special. She also enjoyed traveling and took advantage of Eli's Air Force postings to experience with Eli some of what the world had to offer, from the beaches of Southern France to the wine country of Northern California. Susie is survived by her husband Eli; daughter Annette (David), Moshers Corner; son James (Pamela), Fredericton. She was Nanny to Justin (Ramey), Ashley, Keegan, Thomas, Seamus (Allie), and Lucas; She was Great-Grand mom to Spencer; Also survived by her sisters Betty and Effie, and her brother Gary, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Barbara. Nanny B was extremely proud of her family and all their accomplishments. A memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican church, Middleton, NS at 11 AM, June 11th with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating assisted by Rev. Mike McKeage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia or the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). Interment will take place at a later date in the Anglican cemetery, Winter Brook, NL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. Predeceased by grandson Trevor Smith; sisters Mary (Ebe) and Susie (Sam); brothers Harvey, Lester, Nes (Susie) and George (Nellie); brother-in-law Ingham. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Margaret of 62 years; daughters Lillian (Robin), Valerie (James), Marilyn (Sidney), Shirley (Gerard), Chris (Derrick), Rowena (Andrew) and Maxine (Steve); sons Clyde, Terry (Jackie), Rick (Wanda) and Nicholas (Jennifer); 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters Blanche (Austin) and Cecilia; sisters-in-law Alice and Stella; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Bethel United Church. Little Hearts Ease with interment at Bethel United Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.
