LAWRENCE, David William - Passed peacefully away at Peterborough Regional Hospital on May 15, 2004, David William Lawrence in his 37th year. Beloved son of Lemuel and Marie; brother, Darren in Alberta, also a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial service to be held at a later date.

 

MORRIS, Gloria - Passed away peacefully at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville,. Saturday, May 29; 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, Gloria Morris of Clarenville, for­merly of Port Rexton, aged 57 years. Predeceased by her father, John Charles Morris (1988). Leaving to mourn her loving corn­panion, Ivar Balsom; mother, Madeline Morris; sister, Lorraine Goldsworthy (Herb) at Clarenville; nieces, Christal Palmer (Derrick) at Weybrldge, Dana Price (Bruce) at Brampton, Ontario, Heather Brown (Russell) at Consort, Alberta, nephew Neil Goldsworthy (Lorraine) at Bonnyville, Alberta; three grand-nieces, two grand-nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville and Port Rexton. Funeral service held Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Christ Church, Port Rexton, with interment at the Anglican Cemetery in Port Rexton. Donations in her memory, may be made to Christ Church, Port Rexton.

 

EDWARD JAMES MCGRATH - Passed peacefully away on May 28, 2004, age 81 years. Predeceased by wife, Gertrude (April 2000); parents, Isreal and Elizabeth McGrath; and sister, Martha ""nitty Stone (April 2004). Leaving to mourn one daughter, Eileen Dulman (friend Doug); two grandchildren, Lisa and Jason at Halifax, Nova Scotia; friend, Florence Dewling with whom he resided; two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Eltreda Webster (George); one brother, Whitfield McGrath (Nina) at New Bonaventure; nieces and nephews; and also a large circle of friends. Rested at the Mortuary Chapel, Trinity. The funeral serv­ice, ofliciated by the Rev'd N. Chatman, took place from St Paul's Church, Trinity on Monday, May 31,2004, at 2 p.m. Interment fol­lowed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Trinity. Funeral arrange­ments entrusted  to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

IVANY, Willie Mark - Passed away suddenly on May 31, 2004, at his home in Milton, Willie Mark Ivany, in his 65th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving mem­ories brother, Sam (Beulah) at South Brook; sisters, Mable (Thomas Hibbs) at Milton and Bernice (Frank Ivany) at Milton; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were his nephews Hubert Hibbs, Keith Hibbs, Dwight Hibbs, Wallace Ivany, Warren Ivany and Dennis Ivany. Rested at Blundon’s Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour Funeral service was offi­ciated by Reverend Brian Hannon from the Untied Church Milton, June 2 2004, with interment at Milton/George’s Brook Cemetery.

HOLLOWAY, Murdock - Passed peacefully away on June 1, 2004, at the G. B. Cross Hospital, Murdock Holloway of Musgravetown, in his 76th. year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Dove; daughters, Gloria (Boyce) and Beverley (Wilfred); grand­daughter, Stephanie (Darron); grandson, Cole; pallbear­ers were Boyce Hancock, Dennis Reader, Keith Holloway, Baxter Parsons, Kirby Hobbs and Gary Holloway. Funeral service was officiated by Pastor David Wells, Pastor John Wiseman and Major Robert Froude from the Pentecostal Church, Bunyan's Cove, on June 4, 2004, with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery Musgravetown. Funeral arrangements entrusted  to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

WATTON: Passed away at the Health Science Complex on June 7, 2004, Irene Watton age 75, from Trinity East. Predeceased by sister, Julia. Leaving to mourn with many pre­cious memories, her loving husband of 55 years, Walter; daughter, Julia (Keith Bailey); sons, Chesley, Lindburgh (Barbara), Mackenzie and Gary (Valerie); seven grandchil­dren; sisters Greta Fowlow (Oscar) and Pearl Cooper (Gerald); nieces and other friends. Rested at the Anglican Church in Trinity East from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev Gillam took place on Thursday June 10, 2004. Irene was laid to rest at the Anglican cemetery, Port Rexton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island.

KING, Lawrence - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, Lawrence King of Weybridge, aged 73 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memo­ries his mother, Susan Drury at Bracebndge, ON; aunt Gertie (John Bruckmuller) at Bracebridge, ON; uncle Baxter King at Scarborough, ON; and a large number of cousins, family and friends. Rested at Central United Church, Random Island.. Funeral service held on Thursday, June 10, 2004, from Central United Church with interment at United Cemetery, Weybridge. In his memory, donations may be made to Central United Church, Random Island.

 

SHORT, Pearl - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on June 4 2004, Pearl Short of Deep Bight, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband, Gilbert (1984); and son-in-law, Maxwell Green (1994). Left with fond and loving memories daughters, Muriel Green at Deep Bight and Melvina Moores (Charles) at Mount Pearl; sons, Lloyd and Wade (Margueritha) at Deep Bight; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a large cir­cle of relatives and friends. Funeral took place on Monday, June 7, 2004, from Trinity United Church, Deep Bight, with interment at Untied Cemetery, Deep Bight. Donations in her memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.

 

EFFORD, George W. - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Friday, June 4, 2004, George W. Efford of Port Blandford, aged 91 years. Predeceased by daughters, Jessie, Wilma and Gladys; son, Vernon and wives, Olive Garrett, Isabella Peddle and Amy Davis. Left with fond and loving memories, daughters, Shirley Hawco, Edna Matthews (Lorne) and Fannie Oldford (Rev. Robert); sons, Robert (Gloria),  Jacob (Beatrice), William (Donna) and Calvin (Mary); step-sons,  Laban Davis (Ena), Gerald Davis (Elsie) and Eric Davis (Dulcie); sister, Gladys Metcalfe (Harvey); brother, Reuben (Florence); 27 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at St. Alton United Church, Port Blandford. Funeral service held on Sunday, June 6, 2004, from St. Alton United Church, Port Blandford, with Interment at United Cemetery, Port Blandford. TRICKETT, Sheila - Passed away suddenly at her residence on Saturday, June 12, 2004, Sheila M. Trickett of Clarenville, aged 58 years. Predeceased by father Brishel (1965). Leaving to mourn with fond and lovinc memories, her son, Greg; mother, Blanche (Johr Preston); brothers, Ray Strong (Shirley) at Clarenville Hervine Strong (Patsy) at Smith Falls, ON, Derrick Strong (Ella) and Lloyd Strong (Linda) both a Clarenville; sisters, Mervia (Jack Soucey) at Ottawa ON, and Beulah Strong at Shoal Harbour; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home Clarenville, with  interment  at  Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. In her memory, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

 

MCQUINN, Glenys M. - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, June 14, 2004; Glenys Mary (Greenland) (Curtis) McQuinn, wife of Doug McQuinn of Quispamsis, NB. Born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland. She is the daugh­ter of the late Hayward and Susie Greenland. Glenys had a great love for children serving as leader with the Girl Guides for many years. She also served her community as a mem­ber of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Surviving in addition to her husband, Doug; are her children, Justin Curtis (Leah Collins) at Moncton, N.B. Lisa Curtis at Quispamsis and Tracy Edwards (Randy Phillips) at Saint John, N.B.; broth­ers, Jim (Judy) at Mount Pearl, and Bob (Marg) at Clarenville; sisters-in-law, Ruth McQuinn and Lorna (Bill) Balemans; brothers-in-law, Dave McQuinn and Don (Lois) McQuinn; grandchildren, Erin, Kevin and Stephanie; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rested at Castle Kings Chapel Funeral Home, 154 Hampton Road, Rothesay, NB, (506-849-1702), from where the visitation was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Thursday, 1 p.m., at St. David's United Church, Rothesay, NB. A recep­tion immediately followed the service at the church hall, fol­lowed by interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Donations to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or the Brain Tumor Research Centre of McGill University would be appreciated by the family. Predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Russell. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memo­ries her husband, Ralph of 38 years; daughter, Lisa (Ken) at Jamestown; sisters, Winnie Trembleff (Elias) at Charleston and Ann Russell at Clarenville; nieces, Candy (Eugene Holloway), Norma Tremblett and Jodi Tremblett; great-nieces and nephews, Asia and Brett Holloway and Tyler Hobbs; and a circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Sunday, June 20, 2004, from St. James  Anglican Church. Jamestown with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Jamestown.

 

PENNEY:  Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on June 22, 2004, Reta Penney, age 76, from Britannia. Predeceased by her husband Stan. Leaving to mourn her children, Lindsay (Ina), Joan Langor, Judy (Jerry Marsh), Hank, Eddie (Leslie) and Robin (Krista); 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grancchildren; two brothers, Selby and Curtis, and many other relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. Funeral service took place on Thursday, June 24, from the United Church, Britannia, with interment following.

Predeceased by his wife Addie and infant son Charles. leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughters, Neta (Ray Layden), Joyce ( Pearce Osmond ) both at Cannning's Cove, Dorothy (Walter Osmond - deceased) at Port Aux Basques and Ruby (Ron) at Ontario; sons, Alvin (Jose) at Canning's Cove, Maurice (Fern) at Portland, Cecil (Emma) at Canning's Cove and Ron (Mary) at Labrador City; one brother, Albert Simmonds at Canning's Cove; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at St John Divine Anglican Church, Canning's Cove. Funeral service held on Saturday, June 26, 2004, from St John Divine Anglican Church with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Canning's Cove. DROVER, Beulah - Passed peacefully away at the Heafth Science Center, St. John's, on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, Beulah Drover of Labrador City, age 68 years. Predeceased by her husband, Hedley Drover. Left with fond and loving memories her children, Carson (Lori) at Seal Cove, Sylvia (Leonard) at Labrador City, Russell (Grace) at Labrador City, Calvin (Vicki) all at Labrador City, Delores (Stewart) at Moncton, NB, Dennis (Alison), Roxanne (Mario) both at Labrador City, Lisa (Neville) at Seal Cove and Roger (Rikee) at Labrador City; brothers, Roy Whalen (Ruby) at Caplin Cove, Wayne Soper (Sue) at Brampton, ON, Don Soper and Derrick Soper; sisters, Alice (Mike Healey) at Thompson, MB, Elva (Luke Critch) at Hillview, Sally (Ron Ploughman) at Port Blandford and Ida - deceased (Frank Peddle) at Port Blandford; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildien and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
