Passed suddenly away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on June 22, 2007, Ada Goldsworthy of Champney's West in her 76th year. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Errol. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons: Douglas and wife Jessie of Champney's Arm, Thomas and wife Susan of Brandon, Manitoba; Ernest and wife Delores of Winnipeg; daughters Florence Norman and husband Donald of Port Rexton, Dorothy Rixon and special friend Shawn of Paradise, Frances Goldsworthy and special friend Celestine of Lawn, Nancy Barry and husband Leonard of Champney's Arm and Ruth Goldsworthy and special friend Joe of Champney's West; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters Joan of Mississauga, Ruth of Victoria, BC; and twin sister Lucy of Port Rexton and brother Robert of Corner Brook; plus a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was officiated by Rev. R. Peddle from St. Clements Anglican Church, Champney's West on June 26, 2007 with interment following at St. Clements Anglican Cemetery, Champney's West. Pallbearers were sons Douglas, Thomas and Ernest; grandsons Michael Barry and Leonard Barry and Godson Neil Barnes. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

SKIFFINGTON, Myrtle - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on June 22, 2007 Myrtle Skiffington of Brooklyn aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband Gideon, two sons Leonard and Clayton, two grandchildren Shawn and Kathy-Jean and one great-grandson Gary. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters; Belinda (Eli Russell) of Brooklyn, Mildred (Undo Ellis) of Brooklyn, Barbara (Boris Wiseman) of Bloomfield and Dale (Lome Russell) of Brooklyn; sons Fred (Shirley) of St. John's, Eric (Christine) of George's Brook, Robert (Eileen) of Brooklyn, Leander (Violet) of Brooklyn, Hubert (Barbara) of Brooklyn and Hayward (Barbara) of Musgravetown; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Remains rested at Fewer's Funeral Home in Lethbridge . Funeral took place on Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church with interment at the Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery in Lethbridge. In her memory, donations may be made to the Sunshine Manor Nursing Home, Clarenville.

BUTT, Gladys: Passed peacefully away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at William Osier Hospital in Brampton, ON, aged 66 years. Predeceased by her parents George and Emily Vaters. Leaving to mourn loving husband Arthur; devoted children Bryan (Lisa), Annette, Robert, Janice (Gary); grandchildren Candice, Renee, Meaghan, Christopher, Josh, Lawrence and Joel; brothers and sisters Walter (Pauline), Mark (Vida), Jim (Verna), Evelyn, Henry (Betty), Eugene (Ruth), Joe (Marie), Bill (Sheila), Mary (Frank). Funeral service was held on Friday, June 29 at All Saints Anglican Church, Northwest Brook at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to William Osier Hospital, palliative care ward, Brampton, ON. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

HOWSE: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Deliah Belle Howse, age 88, from Queen's Cove, at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on June 25, 2007. Predeceased by parents Edmund and Mirah; loving grandson Mitchel Avery; two brothers and five sisters. Leaving to mourn her passing are her husband Nelson; daughter Marilyn (Clifford Avery); granddaughters Melissa, Stephanie and Carol; sister-in-law Hazel and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the Queen's Cove United Church from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Glenn Jarvis, took place on July 2, 2007 with interment following. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

HAMPTON, Elfreda
(October 30, 1914-June 27, 2007)

Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista on June 27, 2007, Elfreda Hampton of Bonavista, aged 92. She was predeceased by her husband George, sisters Lily, Phoebe, Helen and Florence, brothers Eli and Frank. Left with fond and loving memories are three sons; Reg (Marina), Lloyd (Roma), Carl (Anita); grandchildren; Ross, Terry, David, Peter, Jason, Jill; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sister Gertrude Udle, and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held June 30 at Memorial United Church, Bonavista, Rev. Tony Cole and Ms. Margaret Hicks officiating, with interment at Lookout United Church Cemetery, Bonavista.

SMITH, Jim: Passed suddenly away in Sunnyside on Saturday, July 7, 2007 Jim Smith of Sunnyside aged 60 years. Predeceased by his father Moses. Left with fond and loving memories his mother Bessie, sisters Livy Green of Sunnyside and Bertha Crocker (Clem) of Swift Current; brother George (Angela) of Sunnyside, a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Remains rested at the Anglican Church in Sunnyside. Funeral service held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from the Anglican Church, Sunnyside with interment at the Anglican Cemetery in Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Anglican Church Cemetery Fund.

ROBBINS, Stephen Gordon
(1939-2007)

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Gross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, July 6, 2007 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Gordon's last several days were like his life, surrounded by friends and worrying about the well being of his family Gord was a friend to many and his presence will be sadly missed by his loving family and all who knew him. Gord is predeceased by his wife Marge, 2006: son Ted: 1980; and parents Irene, 2001 and Eli John, 1995. Left to mourn are sons Gregory (Carolanne), Scarborough, ON; Geoffrey (Lynn), Comox, BC; Glenn (Cheryl), Greenwood, NS; and Bruce, Vancouver, BC; daughter Debbie (Dave), St. John's. Gordon also leaves sisters Belinda (Edgar), St. Jones Within and Ella (Don), Scarborough, ON; brother Ted (Kay), Burnaby, BC; sisters-in-law Ruby (Colin), North York, ON and Norma (Paul), Toronto, ON; brothers-in-law Wade (Linda), Gander and Neil (Linda), Gander. Gord also leaves to mourn his cherished grandchildren Melanie, Cory, Stephen, Nicholas, Daniel, Shawnie, Chelsea and Shelby as well as a large circle of relatives and close friends. Visitation took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville, cremation followed. Memorial service to be held at Emmanuel United Church in Carmanville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 with interment to follow. Due to allergies, please no flowers or scented products.

CAMPBELL, Tina Jane - Passed tragically away on July 8, 2007, Tina Jane Campbell of Catalina aged 31. Predeceased by her father Charlie Prince. Left to mourn are her husband Merlin, son Brandon, daughters Caitlin and Amelia, mother Sylvia Prince, brothers Charles, Jeff and families, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor George Cramm at Triumph Pentecostal Tabernacle, Catalina on Saturday, July 14, 2007. Interment at Pentecostal Cemetery, Catalina. Funeral arrangements by Strathie's Funeral Home.

PENNEY, Mitchel Larry - Passed away suddenly at Lethbridge, B. Bay on Monday, July 9, 2007, Mitchel Larry Penney of Lethbridge, aged 22 years. Predeceased by grandfathers Ernest Howse and Isaac Penney, grandmother Elizabeth Penney, uncle Arthur Howse and aunt Charlene Howse, cousins Brenda Tobin (Howse) and Dean Penney. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his parents Larry and Valerie (Howse) Penney, sister Vanessa (Marc) Penney, girlfriend Melissa Diamond and grandmother Edna Howse and a large number of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge . Funeral service held Thursday, July 12, 2007 from Memorial United Church, Lethbridge with interment at United Cemetery, Lethbridge.

READER: Passed suddenly away at his residence on July 9, 2007, Oliver Gerald Reader, age 74, from Bloomfield. Predeceased by his parents, Bramwell and Jessie; son Bruce, brother, Ross, sister; Dove Holloway. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Rosalind; son Barry; sisters-in-law Florence Reader, Pansy Keats, Nada Colbourne; brothers-in-law Ralph and Jetro Keats, four nieces, six nephews and many other relatives and friends. Rested at the Salvation Army, Musgravetown from where the funeral service, officiated by Major Rex Paddock, took place on Friday, July 13, 2007 with interment following. JACOBS, Lindsay - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, July 16, 2007, Lindsay Jacobs of Clarenville, formerly of Little Hearts Ease, aged 78 years. Predeceased by son Maxwell; parents Gertie and John Jacobs; two sisters and two brothers. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Joyce of 46 years; sons Marvin (Marge), Springdale and Cluney (Denise), Little Hearts Ease; daughters Bernette (David Peach), Arnold's Cove and Cheryl (Randy Martin), Dundalk, ON; brother Bill Jacobs, Deer Lake; grandchildren Jonathon, Ryan, Cody, Tyler and Cassandra. Lindsay also helped raise 21 foster children. He also leaves to mourn a large number of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 from Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville with interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery.

PRINCE, Harold Rex
(Dec. 8, 1926-June 21, 2007)

Passed peacefully away on June 21, 2007 at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, in the presence of his family, Harold Rex Prince, aged 80 years. Predeceased by his wife Miriam; son Ford and infant baby; daughters Effie and Karen. Leaving to mourn; four sons Larry (Jackie), Roy (Bonnie), Monty (Debbie), Jeffrey (Lela); four daughters Ivy (Wesley) Barfett, Jennette (Dennis) Reader, Bernice (Shannon) Holloway, Cavelle (Rocky) Stringer; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother Horace (Anitha); and a larger circle of relatives and friends. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the kindness and sympathy shown to us in our time of sorrow. We gratefully acknowledge the many phone calls, visits, gifts of food, sympathy cards, floral tributes, monetary donations and those who travelled so far to attend the funeral. Special thanks to Daisy Hobbs and staff, Bunyan's Cove for their excellent care of Dad during his stay there, the staff at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, the Salvation Army of Musgravetown and Clarenville, Captain Ernest and Shirley Chaulk, Captain Leaman Eveleigh, and Pastor John Wiseman for their support and conducting the funeral service, to Pam Fewer, Fewer's Funeral Home and Ambulance Service for the kindness and professionalism shown to us. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son David, Jamestown; brother Guy Butt (Nellie), Mount Pearl; sisters-in-law Hazel Butt, Clarenville, Jean Smart (Fred) Scarboro, ON, Doris Dykeman (Paul) Oshawa, ON; special niece Jacquie Crewe, Lethbridge and a very special mom to Melvin Hampton (Wanda), a special nan to Remanda (Leonard) and Krissy and a special great-nan to Alexis and Zachary (Portland). NORTHOVER: Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Hospital on July 24, 2007, Joan (nee Ash), age 77. Leaving to celebrate her life, her loving husband of 56 years, William; daughters Heather (Rick Reaney); son Liam, Valerie (Brendan McGrath) her children Kristina Carroll, Jeffrey and Rodney Stafford; great-grandson Zakary Snow, Debbie, her children Shawn and Pamela O'Neill and their father Jim O'Neill, Sharon Coombs (Vince) and Michele; her children Melanie, Dylan and Devin Porter and their father Bruce Porter; sisters Ada Vey (Petley) and Madeline Dewling (Norman), also a large circle of family and friends. At Joan's request, a cremation has taken place. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, St. John's and the Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville from where the funeral service took place on Friday, July 27, 2007. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Kane (Pasadena, NL) announce his passing on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 67 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 43 years Annie; three sons Wayne (Jackie), Lloyd (Heather) and Cory (Tarragh); grandchildren Tia, Dustin, Matthew and Jordan; sisters Marline Peddle, Elsie (Ben) Hiscock and Jean (Carl) Miller; sisters-in-law Joan Kane and Geraldine Kane; brother-in-law Edward (Betty) Miller; sisters-in-law Emma (Wilfred) Chaulk and Lucy Miller; special niece Michelle Chaulk-Cull. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents David and Helen Kane; brothers David and Morris Kane; sister Sarah Kane; parents-in-law Hubert and Dorothy Miller; brother-in-law Walter Miller. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m. from All Saints' Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Canon Derek Thomas and Canon Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
