AVERY, Yvonne (Bonnie)
Passed on: January 12th, 2019

Bonnie's family are saddened to announce her sudden passing on January 12, 2019 at the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's. Predeceased by granddaughter Lauren, brother Spencer, and father Emmanuel. Leaving to mourn husband Edgar, son Tony (Sherry), granddaughter Robyn (Cam), her loving mother Ida Leonard, brothers Alister (Val), Reg (Lola), Ronnie (Peg), sisters Gloria (Ed), Marion, Denise, and Lori, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation took place and the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Robert Mercer, took place from the United Church, Deep Bight, with inurnment to follow at a later date. In her memory, donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

BENSON, Violet Marguerite

Violet Benson
passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by her husband William Thomas Benson; parents Uriah and Annie Churchill; brothers Kenneth, Arthur, Douglas and Malcolm; sister Ethel. Left with fond and loving memories her children Austin (Evelyn), Lorne (Diane), Inez Durant (Russ), Eldon (Cynthia) and Calvin; her grandchildren Natalie Benson Goodyear (Dion), Stephanie Freire (Humberto), Pamela Balsom (Mark), Paula Drover (Rocky), Paul Benson (Mila), Kimberley Kieley (Roddie), Peter Durant (Pilar Iglesias), Jill Tucker (Sheldon), Nancy Harkness (Stuart), Foster and Jordan Benson; great grandchildren Tom Goodyear, Ana and Charlotte Freire, Alexandria, Ashley and Avery Balsom, Chase Drover, Keegan and Khloe Benson, Benson and Olivia Kieley, Lola and Zara Durant, Emma and Evan Tucker, Braden and Jacob Harkness; sisters-in-law Leila and Meta Churchill, as well as a large number of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Hillview with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Hillview. Donations in Violets memory can be made to St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Hillview.

GOOBIE, Garry Brenton Craig
Passed on: January 20th, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family would like to announce the passing of their dear beloved brother Garry at GB Cross Memorial on January 20th, 2019, surrounded by his family which he so dearly loved. Born on December 24th, 1962 in Come By Chance NL, he was the son of the late Herbert (Donald) and Irene (Forsey) Goobie. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Donna, twin sister Christine, and brother Shawn, brother-in-law Enos Hobbs and nephew Daniel Goobie. Garry is survived by his loving siblings, Ivy (Eric) Barrett of Goobies NL, William (Sadie) Goobie of Goobies NL, Leonard (Brenda) Goobie of Hampton NB, Elva Hobbs of Goobies NL, Brian (Mary) Goobie of Willow Grove NB, and Roger Goobie (Tammy) of Come By Chance NL. And many nephews and nieces, several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. Garry worked at North Atlantic Refinery for 28 years where he made many friends. Garry was a very hard worker who helped others before completing his own work. He enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, riding his quad and skidoo, spending time at his cabin and growing vegetables in his garden. He was well known for sharing his abundance of tomatoes. He also thoroughly enjoyed his annual trips to Cuba with his brothers and made many great memories there. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at GB Cross Memorial Hospital of Clarenville, especially Dr. Salomon and the nurses in the chemo ward. Arrangements are under the care of Fewer's Funeral Home, (709 466-3468) Clarenville NL. (fewersfuneralhome.com)   Visitations took place at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Goobies, NL from Monday, January 21st and on Tuesday, January 22nd . The service was held on Wednesday January 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from Bethel Pentecostal Church, Goobies with interment at Pentecostal Cemetery, Goobies. If you wish to make donations, they may be made to a Living Memorial Fund.

SNOW, Bessie (Betty)
Passed on: January 22nd, 2019

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, Betty Snow of Swift Current, age 80 years. Predeceased by sisters Elsie and Pearl; brothers Rhodie, Allister and twin brother Eric. Left with fond and loving memories her husband of 57 years, Eugene; children Pauline (Don) and Wanda (Mike); grandchildren Andrew, Danielle, Chelsea, Colby and Brendon; sister-in-law Ivy; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at the Pentecostal Church, Swift Current. Funeral service took place on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Pentecostal Church, Swift Current with interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Swift Current. In her memory, donations may be made to the Pentecostal Church, Swift Current.

VEY, Gordon Theodore
Passed on: January 19th, 2019

Surrounded by his loving family, he passed peacefully away, at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL on Saturday, 19 January 2019, aged 88 years. Predeceased by 6 brothers, 1 sister, parents Alfred T. and Mae Vey, and loving wife of 58 years Alma Joyce Vey (Smith). Left with fond and loving memories are children Bernice Vey (David), Valerie Lambert (Calvin) and Rick Vey (Anne). Grand children Jeremy Lambert, Amelia Lambert, Deanne Spurrell, Adam Vey, Matthew Vey and Harrison Lambert. Great grandchildren Sommer Lambert and Jaspar Lambert. Sister, Gwen Peddle and brother Roy Vey and a large circle of family and friends. Christine Spurrell, Home Care, whose support and loving care has been invaluable to this family and Gordon, over the past 7 years. Visitation took place at St. Mark's Anglican Church in Long Beach, NL. Funeral service was held on 22nd January at 2:00 PM at the St. Mark's Anglican Church in Long Beach, NL, with interment at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery, Long Beach, NL. In his memory, flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to St. Mark's Anglican Church.
