It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Whiffen announce her passing at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre on Friday December 28, 2012. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Evelyn Whiffen; brother Harry. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Sue Ann, son Robert, daughter-in-law Natalie; sisters Gertrude, Gladys, Grace, Hilda, Ruby, Anita; sister-in-law Yvonne; and a large circle of extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit in Bonavista or the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (www.cholangiocarcinoma.org).

Evelyn (Ev) Ruby Hollett (nee Noel)
Born In: Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, Canada
Born: December 14th, 1929
Passed on: December 20th, 2012

Passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 at the River Crest Nursing Home in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. Evelyn was born December 14, 1929, in Grand Falls, NL, the daughter of George and Annie Noel. An exceptional mother and homemaker, she was predeceased by her first husband William Stacey and her 2nd loving husband; Harold Leroy Hollett and Daughter Isabella (Terry) Organ. She is survived by family members Edward (Jeanette) Stacey, Walter (Shari) Stacey, Jenny (Hughie) McMillian and Terry Stacey. Gordon (Patsy) Hollett, Wilbur (Shirley) Hollett, Freeman (Marg) Hollett, Jean (Stan) Wareham and Lillian (Gord) Ackerman. She is lovingly remembered as well by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her remains will be cremated in Edmonton, AB and her ashes will be laid to rest beside her Husband in the summer of 2013. The Family wishes to thank the staff of River Crest Nursing Home who cared for Evelyn with gentleness, kindness and compassion, as well as those who played a role in her life during the time she was with us.

Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Senior Citizens Home on Saturday December 22, Margaret Parsons of Trinity, Trinity Bay Newfoundland. Margaret who was 92 years of age was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Raymond in 1996 and by her best friend and Sister Evelyn in 2009. She leaves to morn her son Eric (Gladys Burke), grandchildren Stephen and Heather and great grandchildren, Sadiya and Oceana and their mother Tami. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home in St. John's and at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Trinity. Funeral service took place on December 27, 2012 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity with interment in the Anglican Cemetery in Trinity. Donations in Margaret's Memory to St. Luke's Senior Citizen's Home, St. John's.

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, December 20, 2012, Florence Harris of Port Blandford, aged 72 years. Predeceasd by her husband Leslie Harris; son Gordie; daughter Glenda; her parents Gordon and Evelyn Wiseman; sister Shirley Wiseman. Left with fond and loving memories her children Greg, Boyd, Dale (Navanda) and Dana (Craig); grandchildren Neil (Tasha), Alison, Sarah, Dylan, Jaden, Tyson and Emily; great grandchildren Nathan and Chase; sisters Ena (Auburn), Bonnie (Don) and Linda (Graham); brothers Winston (Norma), Wilfred (Georgina), Bruce (Ivy) and Glen (Barb); and a large circle of family and friends. Passed away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Friday, December 28, aged 87 years. Predeceased by husband of 65 years, Levi; sister Priscilla; daughter Jessie Martha; son Rhodri; grandson Steven; and great-granddaughter Tate. Left with fond and loving memories, her sons Oswald (Angela) and Wesley (Evelyn); daughter-in-law Audrey; grandchildren Kimberley (Kevin), Lexine (Tim), Kelly, Jeffrey (Mary), Gavin (June), Leroy and Jason; and great-grandchildren Lyndsay, Sarah, Tristan, Levi, McKinley, Madison, and Amy. Visitation took place at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at St. Clares Hospital, St. John's on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, Dorothy Ella Mae Penney, aged 89 years of Canning's Cove, a dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Mother-in-law and Friend. Waiting in heaven for her are her husband, Leslie (1971) and son, Dexter (2002); her parents Catherine and Heber Chatman and all her brothers and sisters. Leaving to mourn her loss are her sons, Sterling (Janice), Murdoch & Monty; daughters Vera Brockerville (Allan) and Ena Young (Mike); her precious grandchildren Lesley Davis (Mike), Trevor Young (Giselle), Mitchell Stead (Erika), Ryan Penney (Joanne) and Jonathan Young (Kristie); one special great grandchild Ethan Davis; daughter-in-law Florence; also left to mourn a large circle of family and friends. Elizabeth Louise Muller
Born: February 26th, 1938
Passed on: January 27th, 2013

On Sunday January 27th, Elizabeth Louise Müller (Strong) passed away peacefully surrounded by her children. Survived by her daughters Kirsten MacTaggart (Christopher), Sonja Müller-Simpson (Troy); her son Stefan Müller (Krista); her grandchildren Ryan, Gabriel, Lily, Amalia, Reid, Norah and Lachlan; sisters Lorna MacDonald (Vaughn) and Joan Duffitt; brother Angus Strong (Winnie); her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lillian Strong, sisters Rosemary Hoskins and Gladys Butler, brothers Raymond, Arthur, William and Cecil. Elizabeth graduated as a registered nurse in 1959 from the General in St. John's. She had a long nursing career in many locations across Canada. Elizabeth was active in all the communities she lived in most notably in Clarenville: member of town council, President of Rotary and Historical Society, Treasurer of the Legion. Her most favourite activity was her book club with her wonderful friends. Memorial service will take place on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Memorial United Church, Clarenville with interment at United Church Cemetery, Church Hill, Clarenville. In her memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in lieu of flowers.
Elizabeth was an avid traveler and visited many places. She loved gardening, reading, music and was an excellent cook. Elizabeth was a creative, energetic woman who loved life, learning and never missed an opportunity to try something new. She will also be missed by her many friends around the world.
Thank you to the caring staff at Lions Manor in Placentia, Waterford Hospital in St. John's and special mention to Dr. Brentnall, Nicole Hickey, Eileen Burton and the Alzheimer's Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Predeceased by his parents Oswald and Elsie Wheaton, sister Ida Whitt, brothers-in-law Anthony Careen and Cliff Rideout. Leaving to mourn are his wife, Fay (nee Kearley); daughter Michelle (Mike Vardy); son Michael (Tamara); grandchildren Ashley (Robert Moore), Aaron (Tara Cooper), Michaela, Mackenzie, and Morgan; great-grandson Jace; brothers: Newman (Yvonne), Gordon (Mavis), Jim (Patsy), Ellis; sisters Yvonne Careen, Gwen Rideout, Iris (David Highstead), Pauline (Bob Sander); brother-in-law Ike Whitt. Winston Greening
Passed on: January 22nd, 2013

Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family, Winston Greening of Musgravetown, age 71 years. Winston was predeceased by his parents Ethelbert & Bessie Greening of Musgravetown and Brother-in-law Woodrow Smart of Lethbridge. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife & best friend of 50 years Marjorie. Winston was a wonderful and devoted dad to daughters Gay and Rhonda (Carl Cleary) of St. John's and son Paul (Shelley) of Musgravetown. He will be forever remembered by his precious grandchildren Andrea, Jessica & Sarah Greening and Meghan & Alexander Winston Cleary. Also left with fond and loving memories his sister Lela Smart of Lethbridge. Winston was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor who put family above all. He will be greatly missed by a large circle of family & friends and by all who had the privilege to know him. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service took place on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Musgravetown with interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgravetown. Left with fond and loving memories her husband Don of 34 years; son Kerry; sisters-in-law Rodina Hobbs (Kirby), Velma Tucker (John), Katherine Moss and Judy Baker; brother-in-law Raymond Moss (Patsy); cousins Betty, Barry, Gerald, Gar and Clyde; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Lethbridge with interment at Salvation Army Cemetery, Lethbridge.

Barbara Penney (nee Hillier)

Born: April 17th, 1928
Passed on: January 16th, 2013

Surrounded by her loving family, she passed peacefully into the hands of God on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in her 84th year. Left to mourn her passing are children Donna (Terry), Orleans, ON, Andrew (Lynn), Orleans, ON and Eileen (Phil) Tsawwassen, BC. A legacy of love and memories are left to grandchildren Greg, Mark, Kristina, Daniel, Stephanie, Justin, Laura and Michael. She will be sadly missed by brothers Mac (Georgina), Brampton, ON and Ray (Carol) in Long Point, ON. Predeceased by her husband Bill (February 2012), father Waldemer, mother Selina, sister Gwendolyn and brother Howard. Family and friends may pay respects on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 after 10:00 a.m. at Kelly's Funeral Home, 2370 St. Joseph Blvd, Orleans, Ontario. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
