GILES, Alma Triffena: Passed peacefully away at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL on December 28, 2007 at the age of 82 years, Alma Triffena Giles of Garden, Cove, NL. Predeceased by father Douglas Hollett, mother Minnie Hollett, sister Blanche Hollett, brother Ernest Hollet; and; daughter-in-law Shirley Giles. Leaving to mourn with fond and; loving memories, her husband Ralph of 63 years, son Roland, Garden Cove, daughter Sheila (Bill), Drayton Valley, AB, son Douglas (Wanda) Garden Cove, daughter Edna (Billy) Whitecourt, AB, daughter Barbara (Francois) Labrador City, NL son Norman (Connie) Garden Cove, daughter Gloria (Steven) Edmonton, AB, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral services held on» January 1, 2008 at the Garden Cove Memorial United Church with interment at Garden Cove United Church Cemetery.

BURGE, ALFREDA - Passed peacefully away at Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, St. John's on Thursday, December 27, 2007, Alfreda Burge of Clarenville, aged 93 years. Predeceased by husband Ralph. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Shirley Reid (Tom), Ruth Vardy (Allan), Linda George (Gerald) and Diane Adams (Lyle); sons Manuel (Lu Lu) and Larry (Trudy); sisters Beulah Moss, Trixie Russell and May Stroude; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville Funeral service held on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from Salvation Army Citadel, Clarenville with interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Clarenville. In her memory; donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

HOBBS, Terrance Edward (October 15, 1966-December 28, 2007): Passed suddenly away in Canning's Cove on December 28, 2007, Terrance Hobbs of Bunyan's Cove in his 41st year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Timothy of Bloomfield and daughter Tiffany at Alberta; brothers Raymond (Whilimena) at Bunyan's Cove, Alex (Audrey) at Bunyan's Cove, David (Glenda) at Bunyan's Cove, Enos (Elva) at Bunyan's- Cove, Kirby (Rodena) at Bunyan's Cove, Kater at Toronto and Bernard at Bunyan's Cove; sisters Rosalie Chatman alJ Canning's Cove, Marie Ellis (Watson) at George's Brook, Alvina Skiffington at Lady Cove and Whilimena Skiffington (Clayton) at Bunyan's Cove. Predeceased by mother Deborah, father Reginald and brother Perry, sister Louise and brother-in-law David. Funeral service was officiated by Pastor S. Wiseman from Bunyan's Cove Pentecostal Church on Monday, December 31, 2007 with interment following at Bunyan's Cove Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were brother David Hobbs, cousins Freeman Hobbs and Manuel Hobbs, friends Steve Kelly, Ernesl Tucker and Murley Tucker. Predeceased by parents Bert and Clara Keats, brother David, brother-in-law Ross Reader and companion Mary Brown. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Bonnie (John Matthews), Lethbridge; sister Florence Reader, Bloomfield; brother Graham (Ida), Lethbridge; grandson John Matthews and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Lethbridge with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Lethbridge. COOPER, Dan Mason: Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Hospital, St. John's on January 7, 2008, Dan Mason Cooper, age 85. Predeceased by wife, Shirley, parents, Willis and Amelia, brothers Max, Victor, Allen and sister Rebecca. Leaving to mourn are his children Judy (Linda Cooper), Rick (Vivian) and Mike; grandchildren Danny, Stephanie, Danielle, Nick and Krista; brother Chester (Phylis); sister Vernie (Jim Warren), Mildred (Claude Brown), Miriam (Clar Gover); his friends at Swan Avenue, Clarenville and many other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Trinity East from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. R. Peddle, took place on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, with interment following. GRANDY, Ellen - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, Ellen (Myles) Grandy of Shoal Harbour, aged 92 years. Predeceased by husband Max in 1986 and daughter Margaret in 1988. Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories her sons Harold (Betty), St. John's and Gordon (Effie), Winterland; daughters Maud Brooks, Grand Bank and Ruth Ivany (Earle), Clarenville; sister Carrie Hiscock, Grand Beach; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held Friday, January 11, 2008 from Shoal Harbour United Church with interment at the United Church Cemetery, Grand Bank. AVERY, Jemima: Passed away suddenly at her son's (John) residence on January 16, 2008, Jemima (King) Avery of Hickman's Harbour (formerly of Deer Harbour ) in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Elias; son Silas and parents Naomi and Jabez. Leaving to mourn with fond and lasting memories; sons Ewart (Ethel), John (Roberta), Jim (Bernice), Junior (Madeline), Rex (Karen) and daughters Maisie, Emily Roberts (Lindsay), Betty Martin (Wayne), Doreen Robertson (Allan), Sheila Mitchell (Clare); 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers Welvin (Marcia), Austin (Madeline); sisters Amelia Marsh, Rhyna Marsh (Harold) and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Vera Abbott, took place on Saturday, January 19, 2008 from the United Church, Hickman's Harbour with interment following.

BLUNDELL, Lori Lyn: It has saddened our hearts to announce the peaceful passing at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Lori Lyn Blundell (Noftall), age 37, on January 13, 2008. Lori is survived by her husband Robin Noftall; parents Heber and Shirley Blundell; grandmother Lilah Blundell; mother-in-law Muriel Collins; sister-in-law Dallas Noftall; aunts, uncles, cousins, her two dogs and two cats and many loving and extended family and friends in Newfoundland and Houston, Texas. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. The funeral service, officiated by Captains David and Melanie Rideout took place on Monday, January 21, 2008 from the Salvation Army, Hickman's Harbour with interment following.

BAKER, George - Passed peacefully away in Toronto October 6, 2007, age 73, formerly of Port Blandford. He leaves his wife Helene, and stepson Freddie, grandchildren Ryan and Robyn, loving brother of Maxine and Wanda, nieces Cheryl, Michele (John) and, great-niece Katie, great- nephews Matthew and Michael and many other family members, cousins and friends.

ABBOTT, Isabella: Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her family at the Agnes Pratt Home, St. John's, on January 12, 2008, Isabella Abbott, age 91 years, formerly of Summerville, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Richard and Martha Humby, one brother, four sisters and grandson Scott Prince. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, three sons Clarence (Betty), Dolph (Ellen), Eric (Marilyn); three daughters Loretta Russell, Elizabeth Prince and Olive Stacey (Clarence); 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Rested at the United Church, Summerville from where the service, officiated by Rev. Silas Rodgers, took place on Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Left with fond and loving memories wife Madeline; daughters Patricia Lambert (Roger) and Karen Foote (Lafaunce); son Corey (Shelly); daughter-in-law Corrine Seward; sisters Frances Andrews (Neil), Kathleen Pike (Felix); brothers Lawrence, Alphonsus (Doris), Gerald (Vera) and William; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Megan, Emily, Samantha, Brandon, Brady and a large number of relatives and friends. VEY, Lucinda "Ollie" - (August 8, 1913-January 10, 2008)
Passed peacefully away, age 94 years, at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Predeceased by daughter, Marion Morris (February 1995) and husband Cecil (May 1995). Ollie leaves behind one son, Hedley (Barbara), Hillview; daughter, Anita Smith (Victor), St. John's; daughter, Loretta Gosse, Kilbride; and son-in-law, Bruce Morris, Goobies. She also leaves one sister, Mary Avery of Deep Bigh; along with numerous stepsisters and brothers. Her eight grandchildren are Barbara, Diane, Jeff, Cindy, Gail, Cheryl, Jackie and Joanne, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Simone, Charlotte, Jaime, Emily, Lori, Spencer and Jill. Funeral took place from the United Church in Hillview on Sunday, January 13, 2008. Donations in Ollie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to a charity of one's choice.

ADEY, Charles - Passed away at his home in Weybridge on Sunday, January 13, 2008, Charles Adey, aged 79 years. Predeceased by parents Attwood and Deborah; brothers Robert and Frank; sister-in-law Myrtle and granddaughter Amanda Adey. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 55 years, Ida; daughter Sharon (Leonard) Tricco; son Blair (Joy) Adey; granddaughter Jennella Tricco (Jim Warren); grandson Jonathan Tricco; sister Ivy (late Harold) Vey; also left to mourn nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Eric. Predeceased by sisters Susie Skiffington and Winnie Penney; brother Joseph. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Iris of 60 years; daughter Sherri (Gerry Frampton), St. John's; sons Rev. Nelson (Vida), Hodge's Cove, Rick (Jennie), Canning's Cove, Ron (Irene), St. John's, Shawn (Pauline), Lethbridge and Murray (Cindy), Canning's Cove; sisters Elsie (Gordon Chatman) and Frances Penney, both of Canning's Cove; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends.
