Stacey, Myrtle Eileen - Passed peacefully away at her home in Buchans on December 21, 2005, surrounded by her family, Myrtle Eileen Stacey, age 73 years. Predeceased by her husband Willis (1992) and her parents Marcus and Minnie Hiscock. Left with loving memories are Mervyn Stacey (Ada) of Buchans, Jerry Stacey (Jane) of Clarenville, Paula Flood (Dennis) of Whitbourne, Peter Stacey (Donna) of Appleton, Karen Stacey (Fred) of Gander, Kelly Stacey of Buchans. She also leaves behind three sisters, Elizabeth Walsh (Malcolm) of Buchans, Annie Cluett (Herman) of Grande Prairie, AB, Joan Tilley of Buchans; four brothers, Peter Hiscock (Daphne) of St. John’s, Mark Hiscock (Pats) of Buchans, Ralph Hiscock (Ethel) of Mount Pearl, Gary Hiscock (Mary Blanche) of Winterton, Nan Stacey always will be loved and remembered by her 13 grandchildren,

Paula, Shannon, Liam, Meghan, Jonathan, Laura, Daryl, Denis, Jennifer, Katherine, Vivctoria, Hannah and Robert; as well as a large circle of other family and many friends. Rested at Buchans United Church. Funeral service was held on December 23 with Rev. David Pearce officiating. Interment took place on December 24 at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in her memory can be made to the Janeway Hospital Foundation or the Children’s Wish Foundation. Fitzgerald, Violet M. (nee Abbott) Passed away peacefully on December 24, 2005, Violet M. Fitzgerald (nee Abbott) at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, age 85. Predeceased by her husband Fred Fitzgerald. Leaving to mourn nieces and nephews. Rev. John Gillam conducted funeral services at the Anglican Christ Church, Bonavista. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Strathie’s Funeral Home.

 

Holloway, Gertrude - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, Gertrude Violet Holloway of Bloomfield, aged 87 years. Predeceased by her husband Wilson. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her  daughters, Adelaide (Maurice Holloway) at Bloomfield and Margaret (Everett Pike) at Labrador City; sons, Robert (Fern) at Bloomfield, Clarence (Mildred) at Mississauga, ON, Cluett (Grace) at Bloomfield and Leander (Judy) at Bloomfield; sister, Lily Cole at Elliston; sisters-in-law Gladys Chaulk at Elliston and Millie Russell at Musgravetown; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a circle of family and friends. King, Lewis - Passed peacefully away at the Miller Center on December 16, 2005, Lewis King, aged 81, orginally of Dunfield, Trinity Bay. Predeceased by his wife, Pearl (1976). Leaving to mourn four sons, Les (Jane), Lorne (Geneva), Gerald (Coralee) and Clyde (Diane); six daughters, Lorraine (Herb) King, Frances Madeline (Leonard) Marsh, Joan (Merv) Humber, Diane (Mike) Ryan and Shirley (Bruce) Kenny; twenty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held December 19, 2005, at Church of Good Sheppard, Dunfield, Trinity Bay. Interment at Anglican Cemetery, Trinity, Trinity Bay. Arrangements entrusted to Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo, Trinity Bay. 

 

Butler, Bruce - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, Bruce Butler of Shoal Harbour, aged 82 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Lillian Butler; and brother James Butler. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his brother Carl (Pat)(Marie) at Grand Falls-Windsor sister-in-law Rose Butler at Shoal Harbour; first cousin Edna Butler of Shoal Harbour and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Friday, December 30, 2005, from Shoal Harbour United Church with interment at United Cemetery, Church Road, Shoal Harbour. Clark, Eliol - Passed peacefully away at G. B. Cross Hospital, Clarenville on December 23, 2005, in his 91st year. Veteran of Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit WW11. Predeceased by his oldest son, Vernon (1970). Left to mourn with loving memories, wife Gladys (Simmons) of 62 years; sons, Rex (Heather) and Morris (Joyce); grandchildren, Jonathan (Sarah), Tristram (Nancy), Sam, Colin (Karen), Jo-Anna and Ian. Also two special great-grandchildren, Bella and Jasper; brother Hughie (Margaret) at Ontario; sister Charlotte at Snooks Harbour; sister-in-law Maude Blundell (Ralph) at Hickman’s Harbour; Lizzie Ivany (Ted) at Lower Lance Cove; Mabel Marsh at Ontario; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy’s Funeral Home, Random Island. Funeral service, officiated by Reverend Elsie Squires, took place on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at two o’clock from Britannia United Church with interment following. King, Beatrice - Passed away in the presence of her family at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Friday, December 23, 2005, Beatrice King, aged 77 years. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Whalen; stepmother, Lillian; and brothers Kitchener, Nathanial, Edgar and Harold. Left with fond and loving memories her husband, Otto of 52 years; two sons, Donald (June) at Adeytown and Clyde (Lorraine) at Hillview; one daughter, Barbara (Woodrow) at St Jones Within; three grandchildren, Janie, David and Kyle; three brothers, Albert (Kathleen) at Kilbride, Fred (Alma) at Caplin Cove and Eldred (Jean) at Long Beach; two sisters, Alice Wade at Caplin Cove and Gertie (Edgar) Smith at Gooseberry Cove; three sisters-in-law, Rosetta and June Whalen at Caplin Cove and Lillian Whalen at St. John’s. She will also be remembered with fond memories by William and Venie King at St Jones Within and Dulcie Flight and Walter Greeley at St. John’s; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.

Rested at Faith United Church, St Jones Within, from where the funeral service, officiated by Reverend Glenn Jarvis, took place on December 26, 2005. Stagg, Frederick - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit, Leonard A. Miller Centre, on January 4, 2006, after a short battle with cancer, Frederick Stagg of Catalina, age 69. Predeceased by parents, Frederick and Elizabeth, and sister, Edril. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife, Annie (nee Lane); daughter, Minnetta (Jerry Matchem); sons, Winston (Wendy) at Burnaby, BC, and Michael (Robin) at Mississauga, ON; two grandchildren, Zachary and Claudia (poppy’s little treasure); brothers, John (Pat), Heber (Rose) and Harley (Margaret); sisters, Lillian (Ron Dalton, deceased), June (Eugene Johnson), Mary (George Cooper, deceased), Myrtle (George Russell) and Phyllis (Dennis Legrow); brother-in-law Tom Lane (Anita) at Catalina and Jerry Lane (Franchine) at Oakville, ON; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Little, Andrena - Passed away on December 26, 2005, Andrena Little, aged 91, at Mississauga Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario. Leaving to mourn two daughters, Susan Augot of Mississauga, Ontario, and Isabelle (George) Grant of Inverness, Scotland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Major Green at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista, on December 30, 2005, with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Predeceased by his parents, Attwood and Alice March, and brother, Harry March. Blundon, Olive D. (nee Knee) - Passed peacefully away on January 5, 2006, at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, in her 88th year, Olive Blundon, of Jamestown. Leaving to mourn husband, Reginald; children, Dwight, Belle (David) Bannister, Robert (Lolita), Mary (Nelson) Porter and Joy; sister, MaryLou Bennett; brothers, Hubert (Daisy) Knee and Stafford (Marie) Knee; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a large circle of friends and extended family across Canada. Olive’s last gift is the donation of her body to medical science. A memorial service will be held in Jamestown at a later date. Donations in Olive’s memory may be made to St. James’s Anglican Church, Jamestown.

 

Inkpen, Pearl (February 28, 1920 - January 12, 2006) - Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on January 12, 2006, Pearl Inkpen of Clarenville in her 85th year. Predeceased by parents, Richard and Jane Fry; four step-brothers and two step-sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his brother, Thomas (Shirley), Charleston; a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Charleston. Perry, Walter L. - Passed peacefully away Sunday morning on January 15 at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Walter Leonard (Len) Perry of Bloomfield, Bonavista Bay. Len was in his 81st year. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Blanche Perry of Bloomfield; brothers, William and Josiah of Bloomfield; brother, Tobias of Sydney, NS; sister, Lillian of New Jersey; and Marjorie Bennett of Bloomfield. Left with a lifetime of loving memories, his wife, Rita (Muggridge) of 55 years; daughters, Loan (Howard Shirley) of Marystown and Gail (Rick Barnes) of St. John’s; and granddaughter, Milana Wilson (David Capandeguy) of Marystown. Len will be remembered by his many friends and relatives in the Bloomfield-Musgravetown area, as well as in Dunville, Placentia Bay, from his career as fire chief at the US. Naval base in Argentia. Remains rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge. Funeral service held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at the Heritage United Church in Musgravetown, with interment at United Church Cemetery in Musgravetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage United Church or to the Musgravetown volunteer fire department.

 

Martin, Eli George - Born November 7, 1919; passed peacefully into the arms of his Saviour on January 18, 2006. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruby, in 1993. Left to mourn his passing and give thanks for his long life are his children, Austin Martin and wife Peggy, Watson Martin and wife Eva, Vera Penny and husband Ross, Sara Mior and husband Ennio. He was the proud grandfather of Deborah Guillemette, Marcus Penney, Darryl Martin, Jody Martin, Stacey Weiner, Adam Weiner, Ryan Mior, Chase Martin and Cole Martin. He was a great-grandfather to Dee and Josh Guillemette, Blair Murphy and Daniel Martin. Visitation was at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, on January 19 and 20. His body was moved to Bethel United Church in Little Hearts Ease where visitation was on the 21st with funeral services following. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Predeceased by brothers, Fred, Wallace and Joseph. Balsom, Doris (Nana) - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sunday, January 22, 2006, Doris Balsom of Hodge’s Cove, aged 95 years. Predeceased by husband, Daniel (1982); son, Frederick (1966); and daughter, Nina (1977). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters, Nita Whalen at Little Heart’s Ease and Annie Whalen (Randolph) at Brampton, ON; sons, Duncan (Carrie) at Hodge’s Cove, William at Hodge’s Cove and Edwin (Brynee) at St. John’s; sisters, Florence Martin at St. John’s and Annie Drover at Halifax, NS; sister-in-law, Louise Smith at St. John’s; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, from St Mary’s Anglican Church, Hodge’s Cove, with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Hodge’s Cove. In her memory donations may be made to Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville.
